Sparks eyes narrowed at the box, huh he was right. She suppressed a laugh and just nodded silently to him in agreement. In her head, she tallied what inventory they had. They hadn’t found any extra water on this trip. 

“Well seeing as we didn’t find any water bottles, it’s just the three extra bottles we have and our canteens. Do you wanna check to see if maybe they have running water in their bathroom’s and see if we can fill up our bottles?”

“Yeah, that would probably be best. It could become a serious problem if we run out. Ain’t got much use for everything else if we die from dehydration.” Collin held his hand out for her to lead the way. “So, after you m’lady.”

Maybe Daryl should have approached things with a bit more tenderness. It wasn’t that he had been mean to Colleen, but he had been direct with her. Stern, even. He had to make sure his point got across, and that she understood that he wasn’t going to put up with anyone playing the blame game over the matter, no matter who or what they lost. Seeing Colleen start to cry sealed the idea in his mind that he had fucked up and he resisted the urge to curse at himself under his breath - he hadn’t exactly ever been good with these kinds things, so really this was to be expected. “Hey,” he said quietly, taking a step forward towards Colleen. “S’alright. She wouldn’t want you cryin’ this much. I know that. She would want ya to kick ass and fight for her, but she wouldn’t want you cryin’. You know how Tara was.” 

“I know but the tears just won’t seem to stop.” She dried the tears away with her sleeve as another soft sob left her, though it only made space for new tears to run down her cheeks. “Either way, the alternative of abuse aside... Do you really think Alexandria is the best place for the kid to stay? I mean, it’s not like having to deal with the bullying is much better.. Especially with what happened when Negan had to step in..”
