Happy Hanukkah, everyone, from these two jerks! I’m posting this a little early this year. Line art by the amazing Ro Stein & Ted Brandt, and colour art by @deecunniffe. 

I want to point out what a technical achievement this story is on the art side. There’s a real joy to creating a whole story in eight panels, but this? This is some magic. We introduce four new characters. In panel 5, SIX PEOPLE are talking. SIX. In the world of comics, that’s almost un-doable. 

Yet Ro and Ted arranged everything so the conversations flow and are sensibly grouped, all the “acting” is fantastic, and then Dee laid on top these beautiful, almost fairytale colours – look at the subtle work, the blush in Henry’s cheeks, Frank’s five o-clock shadow, the shine of the wine bottle’s glass surface, the light texturing in the backgrounds… and of course the snow! This is some first-class illustration work on an incredibly hard script. (I fear Ro and Ted always get me at my worst – my very formalist script for them in the 24 Panels anthology was no cakewalk either. (The problem is, they��re just so damn good at it… check out their work on the Image comic Crowded!)

posting from my phone because the site doesn't want to post on my laptop lol. shit happens, we ball.

I AM HERE BEARING MUSIC! another little something, this one being one that i worked on for quite a long time and never planned on doing anything with UNTIL I found it lurking in my files in flstudio and I figured I'd draw up a quick cover for it and drop it on here.

it's a fun little guitar piece, I recall being very proud of the vocal mixing at the time and I'm actually still quite happy with it. I like the little chorus thing and the section in the middle has a fun gravity to it that carries the message well.

THAT BEING SAID! maybe I'm wrong? who knows! YOU DO!! tell me what you think, what you like about it and what you don't, etc etc.

first post holy shit

OKAY, GM!!! my name is jackson, you can also call me gray or graymatters if that's your preference!

my plan for this blog is a few various things. first of all, and this is the main reason i'm making it, I want to get over my issue with releasing music. I make a LOT of music, basically all of my time is spent working on it, and then I never put it anywhere for anyone to see. I'm gonna stop doing that. I want people to see it, I want to know what people think, I can't grow in a vacuum. the hope is that this blog will serve as a place where I can put whatever i'm working on at the time, talk about it a little bit, and just set it down and let people engage with it if they want to.

second facet of the plan is that I want to make music friends!! I listen to a lot of stuff, I have a lot of influences. I don't have a lot of friends who make music themselves or anything and I think it'd be cool to collaborate. tumblr seems like it's got a good community for artsy stuff so I figure this is a good starting place. if you like music a lot or you make music, feel totally free to shoot me a message. it says it in my bio but i'm always down to chat.
