Where to Stop – Most Amazing Places to Visit in Georgia in 202
Medieval castles, beautiful monasteries, deep caves, majestic mountains, rocky beaches and verdant hills, Georgia is a land of rock and stone, a country that is steeped in rich history and culture, thus becoming a universal appealing.
We can only say that you are spoiled for choices in this country. It has got so many wonderful places and breath-taking attractions under its belt that it will surely be a tough thing to choose. Here, we have tried to give you the best of Georgia for your short stay.
#1 Wander through the Colourful, Vibrant Old Town in Tbilisi: Georgia’s capital city, Tbilisi is one of the most important cities in the country to visit, not for just one reason. Lies on the banks of Mtkvari River, the city is surrounded by regal mountains and soring hills. Tbilisi has a long history, dating back to the fifth century. The best way to get around and appreciate the beauty of this unique place is to stroll through the colourful streets of Old Town and capture the hyper-modern and over-renovated buildings. You may like to enjoy a cable car ride at sunset, thus taking in the picturesque panoramic view of the city.
#2 Visit the Spiritual Capital of Mtskheta: Once the political capital before King Gorgasali shifted his base to Tbilisi, Mtskheta, today, is an important city where traces of human settlements (dating back to 4,000 years ago) can be found. The main draw here is the famous Jvari Monastery as it fetches some of the jaw-dropping views of the town. It is only 30 minutes’ drive away from the capital city.
#3 Put Mestia on Top of Your Bucket-list If Hiking Is Your Thing: Located in the heart of the mountainous region of Svaneti, Mestia bequeaths you plenty of hiking opportunities. Hiking or trekking is the best way to discover the natural treasure-trove of Georgia.
#4 Unravel Historic Home of Eponymous Tush People at Tusheti National Park: Made up grass-clad hills and staggering peaks, the Tusheti National Park is perched on the cusp of Russia and Chechnya, cascading down the edges of the Greater Caucasus Mountains. Ardent nature lovers will fall for the misty mountaintops, swatches of forests and sprawling sheep farms.
#5 Not a Mountain Person? Visit Batumi’s Black Sea Coast: If the mountain is not your cup of tea and when you are not so much into religion, head to Georgia’s Black Sea. One of the top-notch beach destinations of Batumi, Black Sea is gorgeous, idyllic and super-stunning. The beach doesn’t boast a sandy coast but made of rocks, thus cleaner and clearer.

How to book summer travel now in order to save money
Are you a travel procrastinator? While it may be only February, the best time to arrange your next summer trip is now, since the flight tickets, hotel rent, etc are very affordable now. If you want to save big, this is the time. Also, find out some other tips to save money for your next vacation below:
Save by purchasing all the necessities before the trip
Travel is expensive, so are the purchases. Most of the time when you add the cost of the little things you bought, the amount will be staggering, you wouldn’t realize it unless you do a post-trip budget analysis. Kinds of Stuff like Jackets, Toothpaste, Slippers, Sun Glasses, Hats, Shoes, etc would be expensive in your travel destination. So buy it before the trip from your local stores instead of paying a premium at any foreign destination.(Ref 1)
Special offers and last minute deals
You can always look for special offers advertised by various travel agencies in your area. Most of them will have seasonal festive offers, discounts on group travel, last-minute deals to fill up the seats, etc. For example, check these offers for Eastern Europe and Malaysia from Sharjah Airport Travel Agency(SATA). They had this special offer announced for a limited time which was very affordable. SATA Travels is a Travel agency in UAE, based in Sharjah.
Prefer Home/Condo Stay or Hostels instead of a Hotel Room
A very cost-effective measure if you are traveling in a group of not less than 3-4. It will be cheaper than a hotel stay option. The advantage is, you can not only save on the rent but also on food since most of the are equipped with cooking facilities. Being able to prepare some meals yourself will add a little fun to the trip, especially when you have a local acquaintance who can help you to prepare some native dishes. If you are a backpacker traveling with your partner or a friend then hostel accommodations are very affordable. Airbnb is one such platform that offers such services. (Ref 2)
Off-season travel
It might sound a little bit odd. But traveling to a destination during the off-season is a great way to save money. For example: Staying in a ski resort during summer, enjoy the luxury at a rock bottom price. Visiting a beach resort in winter would be another parallel. Check out the prices of the French Alps village during summertime, you will be surprised.
Make use of free bike rentals to cut down travel cost
Climate change is real and travel is indeed one of the industry which has got high carbon footprints. Some cities like Copenhagen, Zurich etc offer free bicycles for travel. Going this way has multiple benefits: Health, pollution, more local visibility etc. As per US Travel Association travelers end up spending a mammoth 37% of their total expenses on public transportation and auto transportation.
I have two recommendations for the best countries to visit in 2020 for unique events happening in 2020:
1. Japan Reason: Summer Olympics 2020 The land of the rising sun is hosting the summer Olympics in 2020 and thus buzzing as a top destination to visit this year. You can have a glance at the fragrant and delicate SAKURA, also called cherry blossoms. An ancient trekking route was opened last year after a gap of two decades, this trek is from temple to temple on a thousands of years old pilgrimage route historically favored by Buddhist monks and retired emperors. 2. Australia Reason:  250th anniversary of Captain Cook’s voyage to Australia The year 2020 marks the 250th anniversary of Captain Cook’s voyage to Australia. Special maritime celebrations are planned by Australia to mark this anniversary. Also, the event will see the return of aboriginal artifacts from overseas. There are cultural education programs to honor the aborigines in Western Australia’s Pilbara with Ngurrangga Tours and also by making the pilgrimage to Uluru, a sacred place in the Northern Territory. Also, there is a new flight route debuting, it means a new direct flight will start operation from Chicago to Brisbane in April 2020.   3. Vancouver Reasons: The greenest city Vancouver aims to be the greenest city in the world by 2020. In the middle of the preparation, one can see how the city is transforming to get into a sustainable way, kind of, eco-tourism. A new luxury ship expedition is on the rise to visit the Great Bear Rainforest, the program started in 2019, but expected to see more developments in 2020.
