Do you think the goth community is ever gonna stop putting an unreasonable weight on aesthetic?

Like maybe I’m just a grumpy old man, but it’s about the music. It’s the music, and the literature, and the history.

You can be the gothest mf in the world and not dress goth, identify as goth, or even really fw them, AND STILL be goth because your core interests and personality is goth. (Ex: Nicolas Cage admitting he’s goth after being outted as playing Dracula, living in a castle, and having a pet Raven who curses at him.)

I’m just so tired of going in the tags on various sites and it’s just fashion. Nothing but fashion. Which is cool and all, love the fashion and aesthetic. But it just makes it all feel so shallow and forced.

Where’s the discussion? Where’s the conversation about the deeper emotional meaning of lyrics and prose?

I don’t wanna hear about how you got your demonias on posh mart.

I hate when I say things like "oh I want an ipod classic but with bluetooth so I can use wireless headphones" and some peanut comes in and replies with "so a smartphone with spotify?" No. I want a 160GB+ rectangular monstrosity where I can download every version of every song I want to it and it does nothing except play music and I don't need a data connection and don't have to pay a subscription to not have ads and don't have popups suggesting terrible AI playlists all over the menus.

Gimme the clicky wheel and song titles like "My Chemical Romance- The Black Parade- Blood (Bonus Track)- secret track- album rip- high quality"

Hey everyone, I know it's going to be a busy day for a lot of people, but Google enrolled everyone over 18 into their AI program automatically.

If you have a google account, first go to gemini.google.com/extensions and turn everything off.

Then you need to go to myactivity.google.com/product/gemini and turn off all Gemini activity tracking. You do have to do them in that order to make sure it works.

Honestly, I'm not sure how long this will last, but this should keep Gemini off your projects for a bit.

I saw this over on bluesky and figured it would be good to spread on here. It only takes a few minutes to do.
