Hello! Now that we've gotten a decent number of submissions, the polls will start!
First off, though, we'll do some polls for most of the submissions, individually asking the fandoms if they fit the criteria. With these kinds of characters, it's a lot easier to glean from the story itself whether they fit, as opposed to an outsider trying to understand a fandom wiki. Some of them we already are certain fit, but the rest are unclear, so we call on the fandoms for clarification.
After we have confirmed the number of characters fit the theme of the poll, we shall start the bracket itself!

does it count if the transmigrator transmigrated into the protagonist of the in-universe story? like character a is the protagonist of the in-universe story but character b is the protagonist of the real-world story and character b transmigrates into character a. if character a is still an important character separate from character b can you submit character a?
Yes, if A is the protagonist of the in-universe story, and B is the real-world character who takes their place, then A can be entered into the tournament-- but only the original character A from the original story, without any of the character traits or storyline of the transmigrator.

You said Luo Binghe gets in automatically (as he should), but which version of him? Bc Bing-mei and Bing-ge are decidedly different. I'd sort of assume Bing-ge, since he's the original flavor from pre transmigration, but I figured instead of just assuming I could ask.
(I will be voting for him either way I just wanted to know)
As explained in this post, the "Luo Binghe" in the polls is both, as both fit the nebulous role of "original protagonist". The only difference is one lived in the world of the transmigrator, and the other did not.

Hi! I hope you are having a nice day. Sorry for bothering you with this ask, but I'm a bit confused qwq My first language isn't english and It's hard for me to understand the rules. I was the one who sent in Penelope Eckhart. Does she enter within the specifications of the tournament?
From what we've seen in your submission and the wiki, it seems like she fits! I'll put this in the main tags for her since neither of us mods know the source material, though.

Going off of the previous post, an example of a sort of gray area that would not be a valid submission would be either Aslan or the Pevensies from the Chronicles of Narnia.
Aslan might be able to be considered the protagonist of the Narnia world, since the world’s events center around his actions, but because Narnia is a parallel world and not one written about in the real world, there is no narrative, and thus no protagonist.
Similarly, the Pevensies could be argued to be protagonists of the Narnia world since they fill the role of the fulfillers of a prophecy, a prophecy is not so much an in-world story, and in that case the story would have never existed at all without the transmigrators so it wouldn’t count.
Notably, there has to be a story-within-a-story for there to be a character which qualifies as a protagonist; just plain isekai doesn’t count. Neither Aslan or the Pevensies are characters of a story-within-a-story, and Narnia itself is not a “story world” but just a parallel world, so these characters couldn’t be submitted.
If you have questions about the validity of any submission, always feel free to send us an ask about their specific case!

There appears to be a bit of confusion in terms of what characters can be submitted, so for clarity:
The character must be from an isekai/transmigration story, specifically one where there is a book world and a real world, or some other way a story (whether it is from a book, a movie, a comic, an oral story or any other form of fiction) is the key to a world. The submitted character must be the protagonist of the in-story story.
Some examples via the dealer's choice submissions:
In "Scum Villain's Self-Saving System", Shen Yuan reads the book "Proud Immortal Demon Way", and when he dies he transmigrates as Shen Qingqiu. The protagonist of PIDW is Luo Binghe, so he can be submitted.
In "Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint", Kim Dokja reads the book "Three Ways of Survival In A Ruined World", and one day, the events of the novel begin happening in real life. The protagonist of TWOS is Yoo Joonghyuk, so he can be submitted.
In "Devil Venerable Also Wants to Know", a book miraculously appears near Wenren E, and when he reads it, he discovers it tells a future of the world through the perspective of a "Mary Sue protagonist". "Abusive Romance" is the novel, and the protagonist of that novel is Baili Qingmiao. While it's an atypical version of this, she is the protagonist of a story within a story, so she can be submitted.
Additionally, in some stories, there are two versions of the story-within-a-story protagonist, the difference being the actions of the main character, or some other reason. To keep things simple, they'll be treated as one character.

Note
must the og main character and the transmigrated character be of the same world? what if narratively the true protagonist of the story is invading the og main character’s world because they weren’t supposed to be part of it. i realize i’m stretching the definition of isekai but im asking just in case
I asked the other mod about this one and I think we need a bit more context. What character are you talking about?

One small reminder— if you want to submit a character to this tournament, please do so using the form linked in the pinned post, so that the submission can be counted! Submissions sent through asks or replies to the post are not actively recorded! Feel free to submit as many as you would like!

Note
The form says "character source", you mean the name of the media, right? Not what they used to be the protagonist of? (I just don't want to mess it up)
Yes, that is correct! The source is the fandom.

Tagging for Reach!
@danmei-in-polls @tournament-announcer @hybrid-battle @the-ghost-bracket @most-tragic-character-tournament @character-of-all-time @jerktournament
Welcome to the Transmigration Destination Protagonists’ Ultimate Showdown! °˖✧◝(^▿^)◜✧˖°
This is a tournament for characters who were the original protagonist of a transmigration/isekai story’s target world— not the transmigrators themselves, but the main character of the in-universe story they transmigrate into.
《 SUBMIT YOUR BLORBOS (and the MCs’ blorbos) HERE! 》
Submission Requirements:
Character must be from a transmigration destination— another world into which the source’s main character is transported.
For the sake of this tournament, the destination must be something that existed in narrative form within the story itself, with a clearly defined protagonist/main character in that narrative that is separate from the canon’s mc (the nebulous idea of a “chosen one” does not count for this poll), and exists within the destination world with or without the mc’s arrival in that world.
MCs who transmigrate into the protagonist’s role do count, HOWEVER, the character submitted must be the original protagonist from the in-universe work, not the transmigrator-as-protagonist.
You don’t have to submit propaganda with your character, but good propaganda can help us with narrowing entries down if needed!
If you aren’t sure a character qualifies, feel free to send an ask about them!
Submissions will remain open until we have enough for a good bracket. The size of the final bracket will depend on how many submissions we actually get. If the number is not even, there will be a preliminary poll between the submissions with the fewest nominations to decide who gets in.
“Dealers’ Choice” characters automatically included:
Luo Binghe (The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System)
Yoo Joonghyuk (Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint)
Baili Qingmiao (Devil Venerable Also Wants To Know)
