Because greed is the point. You could characterize the hypothetical "lazy socialist" as greedy because they are being lazy and not contributing to the system that sustains their livelihood. With capitalism the system is that you make the system yourself and sell it to the highest bidder, and because the incentive is profit. Perhaps capitalism needs infinite growth so that the upper class can keep up with advancements that make higher standards of living cheaper for the lower class and in so doing maintain the relative wealth/livelihood gap. Just a thought.
