We had to suddenly put one of our dogs to sleep on Tuesday. I couldn’t take the whole day off but I got to be there when she left. My Angie looked so scared. My heart hurts and I spend most of my alone time crying to the point of hyperventilating. I have to be up for work in a few hours but I can’t stop crying. I can’t call out a second day though.

Logically I knew it was time. I spent two weeks at my sister’s last month for her and our other dog. She was in pain and crying all the time. I didn’t know how to help her. She didn’t eat as much which is hard when she loved food. Yet every time I walked through the door she was excited and tried jumping. Still, there were moments I jumped up because she looked too still. There were moments she would hide in the bathroom in the dark instead of being with me. I knew even then. It didn’t click until right before it happened when she wouldn’t even eat a Hershey’s kiss candy. Just a couple months ago she would have taken my hand off to eat that. But not this time.

She was the gentlest girl who wanted nothing more than to be held, pet at all times, and have endless snacks. When I was a teenager she would jump on the couch and we’d cuddle while we would take naps almost every day. Sweet isn’t enough to describe her.

I got pulled in by my supervisor partially because someone told on me for being late to the afternoon clinic over an hour. Mind you, my coworker and I were locked out and no one told us they were locking the office for lunch since we rarely do that. I also notified my supervisor when it was clear I wouldn’t be on time. But I still got pulled into a meeting.

I’ve been house/per sitting for a couple weeks and I went home to eat and just nap 😅

Sometimes I think about getting a second job so I can pay down student loans a bit faster and save money for school, trip, car, etc. but then I remember I barely make it through a regular work day. That’s including the days that are laid back 😟
