he was broken. it's all dazai's ever known — ever felt. life spent walking a tight-rope between life and death, drowning in his own mind and distractions. love was something he's never thought of — thinking it was a waste of time and mentally. at best, it was a passing curiosity — from something between he questions to what he despised.

well, that was the case until he met you. warm, gentle, and heartfelt eyes met with his — a sudden wave of emotions washed through him like a rifle wave, practically silencing him, he was so memorized by you. his eyes fixated on you, even after you looked away or would walk by him — his heart suddenly feeling right, clenching his long black coat tight only proved his point.

which is what brought him to where he is now — sitting on top of a balcony of an abandoned building, the yokohama lights bleeding into the night sky, watching you fuss over a small scrape on his hand.

he couldn't stop staring at you. your hands fumbled with the roll of bandages you've kept handy — when you went out with dazai, you would keep a roll with you just in case — maybe you could wrap his heart up back together while your at it.

he watched you wrap the gauze around his hand gently, careful not to scratch him — "you have to be more careful, osamu." you whispered, enjoying the silent moment on the rooftop with it. for once, away from all the mafia drama and toxic life styles — him and you finally getting a moment of peace.

"careful?" he forced a cocky smile, "i hate to break it to you, but my whole charm rests in being reckless," despite his smug response, you kept your serious face — only this time you looked him dead in the eye. eyes speaking much more louder then any scream or cry ever could.

he froze. that's when it hit him. the realization he's been doubting all this time. the questions that rested heavy in his chest these past days — finally answered and it wasn't what you said, or what you did.

it was the way you looked at him. steady, exasperated, and unshaken. no matter how twisted his jokes are or how deep into the dark state of mind he wandered the world with — you saw him.

not a mafia executive, not as the demon prodigy — but as osamu.

his chest tightened, all the overwhelming answers come falling down on him like a pile of bricks. for once he didn't have a clever remark, or a teasy joke to full the silence. he just sat there — stunned, mouth dry, lips parted, the world tilting around him like an uneven hourglass.

arriving at the beach, you break your hand away from chuuya almost immediately and laugh happily as you run toward the ocean — leaving chuuya to unpack the car.

he wasn't upset. just grumbled at how hard it actually was to pull the umbrella out of the back seat — just as hard as it was to get in there in the first place.

"chuuya, come in the water with meee~" you tug at his arm, sitting in the sand by his sunchair with a pout in your lips.

HE FINDS YOU SO annoying in the beginning — your just one of mori's assistants, helping with organizing meetings, getting piled paperwork finished — but you were so childish.

he wouldn't at first because he doesn't want to come off as scary, but eventually he'll use rashomon to keep you pinned on your butt — he usually does this when he gets a migraine but he doesn't want to say anything out loud. this is is way of communicating.

he doesn't admit it, but he thinks you're adorable in your sea otter form — as much as he doesn't show it, when you fall asleep all curled up into him he only finds himself staring at the wall. not daring to move a muscle as you look so calm.

he doesn't give you a nickname, he thinks saying them out loud is awkward — but when you two are alone and tired, he'll call you by softer nicknames like "darling," or "hun'"

HE POKES YOUR LITTLE sea otter nose, making small boop noises as you slept — he was asked to wake you up. he found you sleeping on the agency's couch, curled up and warm.

EEEUGGGGH MATH 😡 never liked math, (sorry kunikida) im SO bad at it, i take like five business days to understand one session AND THEN THE NEXT DAY WERE LEARNING SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT 🫩 it was never my strong suit in school, i was mostly the art / music kid 🙂‍↕️👏🏻

anyways, enough of me complaining about how much i hate math — when i was fifteen i was in grade 10, soooooo if i remember correctly, (because this was like back in 2022) we covered mostly what we did in grade nine!

algebra, expanding and factoring polynomials — solving quadratic equations — and simple rational expressions

geometry, similarity and congruence of a triangle — properties of a circle — and surface area and volume of 3D shapes

trigonometry, diving deeper into sine, cosine and tangent — and solving right triangles

and you get into more financial literacy as well, but i did a lot of that more in grade 11 as well — most of what we covered is a lot like what u may have done last year, just getting deeper into it (⁠ ⁠◜⁠‿⁠◝⁠ ⁠)⁠♡ hope this answers your question — i wish u luck in your high school journey luv ❤︎
