“I can’t wait for you to see more, either! It’s a lovely little island, if a bit sleepy at times,” Ellen said, box held under one arm as she took Iris’ other arm and walked toward her place of business.
The tips of her ears turned red in embarrassment at being called adorable… it wasn’t the first time the diminutive woman had been called that. She’s slightly caught off-guard by the question, but answers all the same. “Oh, you look just as elegant as I imagined you, although–I didn’t expect you’d be so tall,” Ellen said.
Iris giggled as she saw the slight color change Ellen was undergoing. She must not take compliments well... Either that or Ellen was intimidated by her! She simply couldn’t stand it if the other woman was uncomfortable around her! Before she could begin to concoct a plan, the brunette called Iris elegant and tall, which made her smile from ear to ear.
“You’re simply too much, Ellen,” Iris replied, using one of her hands to wave away the compliment. “You know, when I was a girl, I hated that I was taller than many of my friends, boys and girls. Now, however, I’ve come to love my height. I feel...dignified, if that makes sense.” A butterfly caught her eye and distracted her from continuing the thought. She’d never seen a variation like that before...
“Pardon me,” she said, snapping out of the stupor. It was almost like that butterfly was glowing in the sun... “Would we happen to be close to this shop of yours?”

Rosalind had been having a lovely dream, in her dream she was laying on the soft sand of the beach in the height of summer, not a care in the world, and certainly no important tests coming up.
She awoke with a start, the image in her mind shattered as the view changed to that of the library she was oh so familiar. A familiar voice, familiar appearance. She smiled sheepishly up at the librarian.
“Goodness… I was just resting my eyes for a moment,” she said, rubbing her eyes, “I didn’t mean to fall asleep. Perhaps I’ve been overworking myself a little. Coffee would be nice about now.”
Iris gave a soft laugh, noting the fact that Rosalind seemed to get cuter as she tried to wake up. “I do believe you have been, dear.” She placed a hand on the other woman’s shoulder, tilting her head to the side. “Don’t worry about falling asleep here, though. There are no rules against it. Plus, you’d hardly be a student if you didn’t fall asleep studying a time or two.”
The blonde stood up and said, “I’ll grab you a drink from the cafe - it’ll only take a moment.” Then, she turned and hurried to make Rosalind one of the best cups of coffee she hoped the woman had ever had. She might as well make herself some, too...
She returned with two mugs in hand - and some cookies to dip into the coffee if Rosalind wished - then sat down next to the student once again. “Here you are,” she started, pushing one of the mugs toward Rosalind. “Hope you like it~ Now, why are you pushing yourself so hard? Do you have something important coming up?”

“Oh! It’s alright,” Arthur replied, “I’m Arthur…i-it’s nice to meet you as well, Ms. Iris.” He flustered a little at the compliment, not really used to hearing that kind of thing. Arthur awkwardly scratched the back of his head, smiling nervously at the woman. He didn’t know how old she was, but she looked like an adult. But then again, Arthur tended to be a bad judge of age. His older sisters always looked older than they actually were.
“Thank you…I can’t see without them, so I’m glad it looks nice…” Arthur took the time to adjust his thick frames, “Are you headed somewhere? There’s a lot of boats leaving.”
Iris only felt more drawn to the poor boy when she saw how nervous he was. How adorable!! If Mistel were here, he’d probably tell her to stop bothering the lad, but he wasn’t, luckily enough for Iris. She just wanted to ensure he was okay; she didn’t see his parents or friends anywhere. Plus, this would be a welcome distraction.
“Oh, glasses don’t have to be just about sight. I believe that a true test of one’s style is finding glasses that frame the face so that they work with any look.” She beamed and glanced toward the large ship her father had boarded. “Oh, no, no. My father’s on that one,” she replied while motioning to the vessel. “He’s going off somewhere and refuses to take me. He says it’s ‘much too risky for a young lady of sixteen’. C’est la vie, je suppose~”
She gave a dramatic sigh before glancing back down at the boy. “So, tell me, Arthur, are you headed on a voyage or seeing someone off?”

Alice was now making almost weekly trips to the bathhouse, and was encouraging her employees to do the same, finding that the relaxation and destress really helped with productivity, and productivity opened up doors forexpansion. Today Alice was working a halfday, although, when she got home she would definitely be working there.
She was surprised and slightly irritated at her solitude being interrupted, however when she turned around and saw the beautiful woman who wasclearly of high society her irritation disappeared, and she even went so far as to smile.
“Devereux? Is that French by any chance?” Alice queried, “Alice Richelieu is my name, and really, the pleasure is all mine. I’m always happy to meet new people.”
Iris was delighted by the woman’s guess and nodded. “Why, yes, it is! My father was sure that we learned the language, as well, to make our ancestors proud.” She gave a light, ringing laugh and bowed her head politely. “It is certainly one of life’s many pleasures. If I may ask, are you of French heritage, too?”
It wasn’t too often that she ran into someone as peculiar as Alice. She was warm, yet Iris sensed something behind the woman’s smile that tugged at her gut. But what was the fun of listening to your gut all the time?
“By the way, I must say that your hair is divine,” she added, admiring its unusual color and brilliant sheen. “You must have some sort of secret. Even salons can’t make hair shine so brightly.”

“It’s wonderful to finally meet you, too!” Ellen said with a bright smile and a laugh, shaking the woman’s hand with an excited fervor. “Yes, it most definitely did help out a lot, I really appreciate it!”
Ellen looked at the box, taking it in her hands and admiring the wrapping. She looked back to the woman, smiling even wider. ‘I’m sure I will love it, Miss Iris, but should we head to the bakery to make the exchange a bit nicer than exchanging by the docks?” Ellen said with a light laugh.
Iris gave a warm smile and nodded in agreement, feeling silly that she had been so giddy about the present. “You are absolutely correct, dear Ellen. The area must have slipped my mind! I can’t wait to see more of the island.” She took a moment to glance around and breathe in the sweet air. It felt much different here than it did on Leuda. Something made her skin tingle, but she wasn’t quite sure what.
Pulling herself out of her thoughts, Iris took Ellen’s arm and began walking down the docks. She could at least get out of the port without any directions, as there was only one way to go. “You know, you are quite like the picture I had of you in my head. Adorable and as sweet as your confections. I wonder, how did you imagine me?”

[ 💎 ] —- Keira turned her attention to the two books the librarian pulled out. She nodded briefly at the books before the woman took her hand. Her heart leaped a bit at the gesture. She wasn’t used to physical contact, but she didn’t pull away. Instead, Keira followed the blonde to the table and sat down in the chair that was pulled out for her. Most people would have just found the correct section and then be on their way…but not this woman. Perhaps, Keira just looked that pathetic.
The librarian’s next question caught Keira off guard. A project? Well, Keira couldn’t really tell her the truth. She would most certainly think Keira to be mad, so Keira opted to go with it and nod.
Iris beamed at the other woman when she affirmed that it was for a project. “Oh my, what an interesting topic! I haven’t had anyone in here looking for genealogical records in quite some time, you know.” As Iris spoke, she realized just how overbearing she might have seemed. Most people enjoyed solitude and silence while working.
“Goodness, I haven’t even asked if you would prefer my help or not! I would be more than happy to stay if you require assistance, but please don’t hesitate to tell me to ‘butt out,’ as they say.” She gave a good-natured laugh and sat down next to the elegant library patron, fully intending to get up and go if need be. A look of utter shock dawned on her porcelain features as she realized that this poor girl didn’t even know her name. “My manners have slipped my mind far too often today! My name is Iris; it’s lovely to meet you, miss.”

Tea and Shit Talk || Charles and Iris
@heartmadeofgears
Ever since Iris had heard about it, she’d been dying to go to the Chamomile Tea Room. Not only was the tea supposed to be spectacular, there were maids, too. While Iris tried to keep up her prim and proper image in public, it was very hard to resist such a tempting place. Therefore, she had phoned her old friend Charles immediately and requested that he join her for tea. She knew he was probably rather busy doing whatever job he had now, but it was important for them to catch up from time to time. Plus, he would help reign her in if she got too wrapped up in it all.
Iris arrived first, which was a bit unusual, due to her enthusiasm. Not only for the maid cafe! She was equally as excited to see Charles. It had been ages since they last took some time to chat. Giving a gorgeous smile to the host, she asked for a table for two. The woman obliged and led Iris, who was having trouble maintaining her composure, to her table. She smiled at the woman as she left and glanced down at the menu to distract herself. My, what a lovely establishment...
There were so many varieties of tea (and distractions) that Iris couldn’t make up her mind. Luckily, Charles arrived before the waitress. A genuine smile bloomed on her face as she saw the shock of red hair near the doorway.
“Charlie, darling,” she called just loud enough for him to hear her, knowing that he would probably dislike the attention brought by her boisterousness. “Do come sit!”

Iris straightened up at the sound of her name. Had she even entered this raffle? Perplexed but enthused, Iris made her way onto the stage and took her prize from Dia, offering her a polite nod of the head and thank you. She then made her way to the bar and cocked her head to one side as she read the card that described the prize.
Her heart immediately froze as she saw that it was a romantic getaway. Like she would need this... Charles would surely laugh if he were nearby. Sighing, she let the card flutter onto the counter and asked the bartender for a drink. Maybe one day...

Iris’s father had a meeting with some dignitary in some far off land and had refused to take her due to the nature of the country. She wasn’t sure what all the hullabaloo was about, but she didn’t appreciate not being allowed to take in the sights and culture. Inspiration was not always found at home!
Despite her malcontent, it was still her turn to see her father off at the port. He gave her his usual warm goodbye, tucking a few bills into her hand as a half-assed apology, and boarded the large, gaudy vessel. She waved goodbye as her father disappeared below deck and turned to make her way to a few shops. Perhaps she could pick something up for Mistel...
As she walked, she noticed a boy that had some sort of air about him. Being surrounded by dignitaries and royalty all her life, Iris could almost always pick the wealthy out of a crowd. This boy looked so out of place; what brought him here?
Iris smiled as the boy approached her and shook her head. “Oh, no. Pardon me for so blatantly staring. I thought I recognized you.” She gave a slight nod in greeting and continued. “My name is Iris Devereux. It’s an absolute pleasure to meet such an adorable boy.”
A chuckle escaped her lips. “You remind me of my little brother! Though, he doesn’t wear glasses. I think they suit you,” she added.

Arthur adjusted his glasses as he walked around the Leuda docks, deciding to watch the ocean instead of partake in the official business that his father was there for. His older brothers and sisters were enough of a handful for their guards to protect, and honestly as the odd thirteen year old Prince out of the group, it was easy enough to slip away and enjoy some alone time.
At the rate of his father’s meetings with the mayor, he would probably have another hour or so before people would be out looking for him. So, Arthur wanted to be by the sea and look at all the ships. All the cargo, the different ship builds, and the people most of all. One small part of him thought that maybe if he walked around the pier long enough, he would get a glimpse of his real mother.
He took in a deep breath, easily sliding through throngs of people without trouble. He was thin, short, and kept quiet enough that people barely noticed him pass by. However…he got the distinct impression that someone was watching him.
Arthur tilted his head to see just that. Someone on the docks, watching him intently.
Honestly, he didn’t know why he was being watched. His family didn’t come wearing any regal clothes to really stick out in a crowd, and he was sure nobody would know the face of the fifth son of a king that didn’t even have authority here. Was there some other reason?
Well, no other way to find out than to ask.
Arthur walked up to the person, curious pink eyes watching them through thick glasses, “Is there something you need?”

Sharron couldn’t find Gale. He was supposed to be on duty today, but he still has yet to show up to work. It was irritating, particularly because she usually had him in front while she took care of the store part of her observatory. Not that many came in during the day hours, most wanting to see the stars in observatory, so when she heard someone step into the building, and ask to talk to her about a ‘ghost’, Sharron was a bit surprised.
She stepped out to the main room and gave a smile in the direction she heard the woman come in, “I am, actually. Though I can probably assure you, whatever ghost you heard of isn’t real. Mostly because I’m not quite dead yet.”
She gave a small humming laugh, “I’m sorry to disappoint.”
Iris could only stare at the woman before her. Though she was vastly disappointed the rumor didn’t pan out, the emotion was dwarfed by the awe she felt standing in this woman’s presence. There was something about her, something that inconceivably outshone her beauty and made Iris feel like she was talking to a deity of sorts.
Surprisingly, the descriptions given of the ‘ghost’ were spot on, though, which made Iris hope that there might be something to it after all.
Forcing herself out of her trance, the blonde approached the other woman and noticed how her eyes looked into the distance and were not focused on any particular point. “Oh, this isn’t the first rumor that I found to be false, and it certainly won’t be the last,” she chuckled, smiling at the other woman despite the fact that it would be impossible for Sharron to see.
“My name is Iris Devereux, and I’m an author from Leuda. I was wondering if you would mind terribly if I asked you a few questions anyway? Perhaps I shall find inspiration despite the non-existent ghost.”

A Ghostly Tale || Sharron & Iris
@ghostlyoracle
For the past few weeks, Iris had been trying to find some inspiration for a novel that would allow her to spend much more time in Arcadia. She had been asking random patrons at the library, her students at school, and even her publisher about rumors of strange happenings in Arcadia. Finally, she heard something that piqued her interest.
She heard tell of a mysterious ghost that walks Arcadia at night, and has been seen on the beach on numerous occasions. Her skin is said to be as white as the moon; her hair silver as the tide. What sticks with most, however, are her pale blue eyes that seem to stare in perpetuity at some distant memory.
Iris couldn’t wait to follow up on this lead. Her source gave her the address of Kismet Observatory and told her to ask the proprietor about the ghost. Apparently, they had first-hand details about this apparition.
So, she packed up her notes and took a ride to Arcadia from a small pirate. The blonde didn’t even stop to look around when she arrived. She simply made her way to the observatory as quickly as possible. When she stepped into the magnificent building, she finally allowed herself to take in the wonder of the place. Arcadia was supposed to be filled with magic, but she never really felt it until now. There was something about this place...
A flicker of movement in front of her caught her eye. “Excuse me? Are you the proprietor of this lovely observatory? I do hope I’ve come to the right address. I have a few inquiries for you about a local ghost!”

Nina had been out for a stroll, her SLR camera in hand as she snapped photos of the falling leaves. She preferred the spring, but she did love the fall. It was hard to dispute how lovely the falling leaves looked when they were such bright colours.
She had paused in front of an old tree, checking the screen on her camera to make sure the photos were turning out well. THe pinkette was just about to pack the camera away when she heard footsteps coming toward her, followed by a pleasant sounding voice. Of course, she hadn’t thought the person was referring to her, and she looked up at the beautiful woman with a look of confusion on her face.
“Uhh—” Nina was about to let the lady know she was mistaken, as she was certain she had never met her before, but then there there was a whispering in her ear and her eyes widened. Was this woman running from a stalker?! She had only recently had to deal with a mugger, so that didn’t seem too far off.
Putting on a smile she hoped was genuine, Nina started walking casually down the sidewalk with the beauty, “Nina was starting to think you weren’t going to make it. Did you get held up at work? We better go, we’ll be late for–” a brief pause, but then, “The art show they’re hosting at my work.”
She hoped the stranger would get the hint and take off, but she dared not look behind her.
Iris’s shoulders relaxed as the woman she had approached played along with her. It was good to know that the world still had genuine people. Giving the pink-haired woman a thankful smile, she shrugged. “Oh, you know me, Nina darling. I always have to be ‘fashionably late’, as they say.” She gave a light chuckle to hide the small quiver in her voice and took the other woman’s hand for solace.
She glanced over her shoulder as casually as possible and saw that the creep was hanging back considerably. Hopefully, they would be gone in the next few blocks. They Iris could properly apologize to the woman and repay her for her kindness.
“I’m thrilled about the exhibition, you know!” She noticed the camera in Nina’s hand and pointed to it. “Are you putting any of your photography on display? I’m sure it would get marvelous reviews, love!” she cooed, hoping to keep Nina distracted, as well. This had to be just as stressful for the pinkette...
“Would you mind showing me a few?”

Ellen had been keen on arriving early to meet her penpal on the docks, but she still ended up running a little bit late as she ran around her home, trying to find the gift she had made her friend.
As soon as she found the mermaid tail blanket she knitted for the woman, she darted off to the docks and was able to catch the woman just as she got off the boat. At least… she thought it could be her, since she had worn violets in her hair. “Iris, hello!” Ellen said, waving to her.
Iris perked up as she heard her name being called and smiled when she spotted the most adorable brunette waving at her. Smiling brilliantly, the blonde made her way over to the woman addressing her and stuck out her hand. “Hello! You must be Ellen, yes? It’s absolutely wonderful to finally be meeting you!”
She let out a delighted laugh. “I see my choice of wardrobe was fruitful after all!” Her eyes glinted as she remembered her gift, causing her excitement to skyrocket. “Speaking of wardrobes...” She held out a clothing box that had been wrapped in a way that one could still take off the lid without ripping the paper.
The box was covered in shimmery ivory paper with a purple bow resting daintily on the box’s lid. Inside was a dress that Iris had made herself. “I hope you like it! I can always make some alterations if necessary!”
