Gabriel Agreste Is, And Always Has Been, Abusive Towards Adrien

(some of these are probably out of order, i’ve said before i haven’t been able to rewatch the show in a while so i don’t remember details that aren’t brought up a lot sksk I have really been wanting to rewatch and make a full, detailed list of all the times Gabriel’s a bastard, but with uh certain posts I saw today it’s just…really irritated me so here we are :) )

idk some of y’all can genuinely be out there believing wholeheartedly that Gabriel is a good person, let alone a good father.

Like yall really don’t understand abuse and it really fucking shows. 

He’s abusive.

Even before knowing he’s Hawkmoth, he’s still not a good father. Adrien barely sees and when he does Gabriel is almost always cold and distant towards him. He’s neglectful towards his son, who’s just lost his other parent, from the very beginning. 

He refuses to let Adrien go to public school so much that Adrien tries to sneak out and enroll himself. 

He refuses to allow Nino to throw Adrien a birthday party, because why??? he’s a dick. that’s why. (and knowing he’s Hawkmoth, it’s likely he did this just to create an akuma in the end, he literally purposefully upset his son’s new friend so he could brainwash and control him, great dude.)

also Adrien tells Nino “He always forgets my birthday” mind you, pretty sure this is the first year since Emilie’s disappeared…

He also couldn’t even bother to

1. buy his son a present

2. couldn’t even leave his office to give his son a stolen present.

Also him “buying him pens” for his birthday in some dubs?? isn’t any better..literally at all. 

He didn’t show up to Parent day, despite it being very obviously important to Adrien. Didn’t even bother picking up the damned phone and telling him he’s not coming.

He allowed Adrien to be captured by Pixelator

while being extremely cold and not even looking at him during the scene, even 

while Adrien is trying to explain why he took it (after his father asked)

said the man who’s guilt tripping and telling his son he can no longer trust him over accidentally losing a fucking book. 

gonna quote something from this perfect analysis about some of these scenes

“Adrien’s literal FREEDOM is being threatened by his own father because he lost a book. I don’t even need to explain how extreme that is and how manipulative that is.” 

He broke a picture Adrien drew he was a little, despite not actually being upset or mad at all, and was simply trying to make Adrien feel guilty over him being akumatized. He purposefully destroyed a drawing a 3-6 year old Adrien probably gave him. 

And mind you, all of this is while he’s got a digital copy of the book, he did all of this to his son knowing he didn’t actually lose anything, but paper. 

Also was trying to capture Adrien in the episode after he was akumatized, cause that’s not gonna traumatize a child at all right?

He went after Adrien himself, he’s not being mind controlled by Hawkmoth. He purposefully went after his own child to scare him into obedience, because he took a book. 

He made his son believe that he’s the reason his father got akumatized, Adrien blames himself for this and it’s not real. Gabriel wasn’t angry. He’s clearly not losing control of his emotions.

he just yeeted the photo like it was nothing, but it clearly was something to Adrien.

Akumatized Kagami into Riposte, knowing fully well her target was Adrien. 

If Adrien wasn’t Chat Noir, he would have died in this scene. 

He had no intention of allowing Ladybug to use her cure, he didn’t have a safety net. Adrien was 100% going to die from this and Gabriel had no reason to believe, in his own little “I’m gonna win” mind, that Adrien would come back from this. 

Gabriel Agreste was 100% willing and ready to let his son be murdered in order to get the miraculous.

Hawkmoth in Mayura

He didn’t care Style Queen turned him into a gold statue. 

Akumatized Manon, knowing damn well Adrien was in the building with her.

Wax Hawkmoth attacked Adrien and would have caused serious damage if Ladybug hadn’t grabbed him.

He didn’t really care he sent his own flesh and blood into FUCKING SPACE

He was going to tell his son that he’s Hawkmoth, a terrorist who’s caused most of his friends and loved ones to have PTSD, on the 1st anniversary of his mother’s disappearance. 

He got mad at his son for telling him he’d be okay with him moving on from his mother and being happy. 

This is 100% NOT how a caring, but mourning parent would treat/talk to their child when telling them they’d be okay if they moved on. I know the English version is a bit…eh softer? but you cannot listen to the French Dub and tell me Gabriel doesn’t sound mad af, if my parent talked to me like that I’d probably have panic attack and need to go to the hospitial. 

CHAT BLANC  

1. Blackmailed Adrien’s girlfriend, who he was so openly and very obviously in love with and who made him very happy, into breaking up with him. 

He threatened to take Adrien out of school, in turn isolating him from his friends and from public in general. 

This is a common thing for Gabriel, holding school and the idea of it being taken from him as a bargaining chip to keep Adrien from acting out or stepping out of line. 

2. Had his son’s heart broken so he could akumatize the girl he’s in love with 

3. When this fails because he transformed and thus Gabriel found out his son is Chat Noir, there was not a single ounce of “oh shit..maybe i’ve fucked up.” or “oh maybe I should stop???” 

All Gabriel saw from this was an opportunity to get a bigger, and stronger akuma. 

4. Reveals Emilie’s body in a coffin in their basement to his son, who’s believed she’s dead (or disappeared but lets be real, I’m sure he’d rather believe she’s gone because she has to be, rather than she left him alone on purpose.) 

5. Does this to upset Adrien, he does all of this to break his spirit and his strength so he won’t disobey him. 

When Adrien charges at him, but stops to ask why, to beg him for an answer, he hits him. 

(Would like to remind you that Gabriel in no way, shape or form attempted to convince Adrien to join him. His one and only plan was to akuma his son.) 

6. He Physically Abuses Him

He hits him once, to knock him into the air and then again (yall see how hard Chat hit the tower right? like…if he wasn’t suited up he’d have died/seriously injuried from that hit/the fall)

When Adrien lands he literally started crawling away from him in fear. 

This is it, if you’re so unable to comprehend and understand emotional and mental abuse and neglect, this is the moment for you. This is them painting out very clearly that Gabriel is abusive. 

Striking your child is abuse. 

He hits him so hard he flies through the ceiling and then he hits him again like he’s hitting a fucking baseball, so hard that he bounces off the Eiffel Tower. 

You cannot say this isn’t abuse. He is knowingly hitting his child, that’s abuse. 

7. Gabriel akumatizes his son, while he begs him to stop. 

8. He tries to make, and command Chat Blanc to murder the girl he’s in love with. 

+ 1 good thing Gabriel did. He died

I've been searching for a fanfic on ao3 for a week now.

Master Fu told Marinette Chat Noir's identity in the beginning (plot takes place somewhere after Volpina) and she didn't take it good. She's been freaking out for some days and then Chat discovered her identity too and they are ok.

It's what I remember. I read it some months ago and I really can't find it

All the people being all “skskskks Chat is so dumb falling for the wax/sentimonster Ladybug” and using Ladybug recognising fake Felix as proof.

The situations are different.

1) Marinette already had a heads up something was off thanks to the video.

2) Marinette does not have the same background as Adrien. Aka, she is not love starved. Aka, she is not going to grasp at every little scrap offered and want to believe it is real/sincere.

3) Ladybug has had moments where she is soft and flirty with Chat. There is foundation there for him to work with.

4) Marinette has it half-convinced in her head that Adrien can’t love her thanks to all her anxiety. Chat, on the other hand, leans towards being hopeful. In other words, Marinette is expecting to be let down and looking for the “ha, gotcha” moment.

5) nothing. I just wanted 5 points.

Why the point that “Adrien only dated Marinette because he knew that she was Ladybug” is completely invalid *Post contains Chat Blanc spoilers!!*

I don’t know why people keep saying this, like, did we even watch the same episode??

When Adrien finally went to go tell Marinette about his feelings he literally said that he always knew that Marinette was more than a friend to him and now he knew why.

This reveal should be more significant to the fans, because this means that each fucking time Adrien referred to Marinette as “just a friend” he was lying to not only everybody else, but himself more than any other person.

“So why didn’t Adrien date Marinette instead of Kagami?” Because Marinette literally has rejected Adrien before. In “Puppeteer 2″ Adrien finally outright asks Marinette if she likes him, giving her an open chance to profess her love to him, while maybe not under the best of circumstances, this was an open window for Marinette to be upfront and honest!! This very well could have altered the events afterward.

Knowing Adrien and his admire for Marinette, even though he would have rejected her due to said love for Ladybug, he still wouldn’t have wanted to lose her as a friend because he obviously admires her just that much. 

This could have fixed Marinette’s inability to talk to Adrien now that everything was out in the open and given Adrien the chance to have a better understanding of Marinette. 

But their wasn’t much that he could do if he was *rejected.*

Also, crucifying Adrien for this, but not Ladybug/Marinette is very hypocritical. We could say this just as easily as we could say “Ladybug only loves Chat Noir because she knows that he’s Adrien.”

Well?? Yeah?? Of course. They still love one another’s authentic selves, but they love their alter egos even more and therefore feel conflicted. The only way that could have been balanced out was with a reveal from at least one side, which their was and that’s why the relationship turned out fine.

Can i just say how much I love chat noir? I've never had so much love for a fictional character it hurts.

He's been through so much and he still chooses to be good. He lost his mother and his father, and still finds it in himself to truly love his lady, with a love so big it almost destroyed the universe. Chat Blanc wanted the miraculous to fix what he's done, to wish for a never ending love with his lady whom he accidentally killed.

The look of grief in his eyes, the momentary tenderness he gives Ladybug because deep down he doesn't want to fight her, he just wants his lady back. He's been alone with the guilt of killing her for who knows how long. That's how desperate he was.

When she doesn't cooperate he tries to do it his own way, for how desperate he is.

In trying to convince her to gently give him her miraculous, he explained. He tried. Because he doesn't want to fight her.

Did you know if we unite our miraculous it will grant us a wish?

I wish for everything to be fixed

Our love will be intact

His father is a merciless douchebag who manipulated his emotional state, and abused him physically, making him choose between killing a teenage girl (whom he loves with all his heart and whom he find happiness with after his mother disappearance), and killing his father, the only family member left for him.

He never even considered siding with him when Hawkmoth talked about 'doing it for the mother'. In one moment he had hopes of being with his mother again when he saw her, only for both parents to be taken from him the next. moment.

And after all that, the love he has for Ladybug still lives. After all the misery he lived and still lives, after all the rejections that broke his heart, he still loves her because he's not willing to give up yet.

He's been through a lot, and Chat blanc just showed us the intensity of his love and the extent of his loneliness.

With all respect to marinette's struggles, Adrien is the purest character in the whole show. He's been through a lot but still holds on to the thinnest threads of hope to be happy.

The writers really nailed it with this episode.

Chat Noir deserves more recognition and I hope the episode ‘Chat Blanc’ gives him that.

Ok I’m not good with words so I don’t know how to express myself well BUT....

Chat Noir gets slept on by everyone in the show. They all just say he’s Ladybug’s helper, her sidekick who’s not as powerful as her. The writers even write the fight scenes like that sometimes where she saves the day and all he does is distract the villains.

But he DEFINITELY has the power and strength and ability to save the day, albeit not without Ladybug de-akumatizing the butterflies in the end. But he can totally handle everything else. He can fight the bad guys, he can use his cataclysm to destroy the objects holding the akumas. He can save the day.

Even so, it’s SUPPOSED to be a partnership between them. They work best together and they need each other to save the day. They both have strengths and weaknesses that compliment each other perfectly to be able to save the day together. Ladybug NEEDS him.

Chat Noir is NOT Ladybug’s sidekick, he’s her PARTNER, her equal, her literal other half. She has the power to create and he has the power to destroy. They EACH have one of the two (equally) most powerful miraculouses in existence.

I mean there’s a reason he’s always there to save the day too, and not just one of the extra helpers Ladybug calls for help every now and then like Rena Rouge, Carapace, etc.

And I know the fandom knows this, but I need the writers to show it more, and I definitely need the characters in the show to acknowledge it more.

That’s why I’m glad with this teaser for Chat Blanc we can see just how powerful he is. He effin’ transforms and saves Marinette from an akuma in like two whole seconds!! His akumatization is a huge problem because of how powerful he is with his miraculous. They’re all gonna (hopefully) finally see how strong and how powerful and how important he is!!! And I really hope they do!!! I hope they see just how much they need him when he’s no longer there.

He deserves just as much praise as Ladybug gets. Everyone in all of Paris freakin’ loves her and they don’t even acknowledge my boy. I need them to all be just as enthusiastic to see him. I need them all to cheer him on too. I need them all to thank him for saving the day too. Chat Noir needs to get the recognition he deserves!!!

Help me. I read a fanfic some months ago and I can't find it.

LB and Chat have defeated Hawk Moth. Don't remember what happened to Gabriel but Adrien was really hurt and he decided to disappear. Marinette, Alya and Nino were worried as hell. And then Chat revealed himself to Ladybug, she took him to her apartment, then Alya kicked Adrien for making them worry. And there was their happily ever after.

I haven’t seen anyone mention the fact that Chat Noir literally was the one who beat Miracle Queen. Like. He was the one who came up with the plan and put it into action. He was the one who had the idea of using Roi Singe against Miracle Queen. He told Ladybug what to do so that he could put it into action. Can we talk about this? Ladybug didn’t even have to use her Lucky Charm against Miracle Queen because Chat FIGURED IT OUT before she had to…………. Chat Noir stepped the fuck up and did the planning so that Ladybug, who he knew was overwhelmed, didn’t have to. 

Please. We need to talk about this. I keep thinking about it and it makes me emotional. He’s growing and he’s taking some of the weight off of her shoulders. It’s amazing. Please.

At the very beginning there LB's speech like in the Loveater. And she said that sometimes you can go astray. But there are people who will help you find your way.

It was the moment when Luka and Marinette appeared on screen.

We all know that Kagami and Luka are helping these two idiots Adrien and Marinette to develop their relationship.

But it was said in the episode. Straight and clear.
