Finally posting my cowboy Charr I did a while back and forgot to post him lol Im still on the fence about whether making him a thief or engineer in game though,he could have a steampunk look to him otherwise,hm... Anyway he's a legionless Charr, decided to dip after figuring out this path was not for him (even if this stunt probably painted him as a coward to the eyes of many other Charr) Now he goes on adventures stealing hunting for treasures and fighting other bandits who wants him dead, and keeping a low profile when theres bounties on his head. May steal a couple of wallets on the way,when he's not busy stealing hearts...

DISCLAIMER: THIS ISNT ME TRYING TO SOFTEN OR JUSTIFY ANYTHING FLAME LEGION HAS DONE IN THE PAST (as an anonymous user so "nicely" assumed 🙄) BUT RATHER A WANT TO MAKE THEM A BIT MORE DYNAMIC AND PLAY AROUND WITH DIFFERENT IDEAS

Plus I WILL be making a post on post IBS Flame legion and about a renaissance of charr culture and arts! So let's get into this

We know that for legion charr society pre IBS sires rarely have much interaction with their cubs during their formative years and will only watch from the shadows occasionally dropping gifts ans trinkets and then once fully grown will they interact with their cubs whether it be to wish them luck or in rare unfortunate cases to stop them from humilating them by fighting or even killing their own. I think that for Flame legion charr it would vastly different with flame sires being more involved and present, though not solely because of benevolence or them being family oriented.

So you know that meme that went something like "Wanting to rule over my own micronation with an iron fist and to wage war with the neighbors" and someone responded "That's just my dad starting a family"

yeah same logic with flame charr. Starting a family would be a high privilege typically reserved for most shamans and few HIGHLY skilled warriors and while shamans may be allowed to pick and choose, the average warrior would be assigned (and if he fucks up somehow he can be forced away from his family remember this for a later post).

Once in a family the male would be expected to be a "decent" mate ie. Abuse and excessive violence towards mates would be severely looked down upon and the male seen as weak for since female charr in their eyes are already lesser and she is expected to carry the future of flame legion. As such he is expected to care and provide anything and everything needed for the family to survive and thrive, this would mean providing the main needs: proper meats and food stuffs, shelter, access to fresh water, given the harsh firey lands they live in etc. But this also means providing things purely to show off his status to other males and in some cases to better relations with the females they're partnered to: Fabrics to make into clothing and jewelry to adorn their mates and cubs to show off during ceremonies and festivals, sugary sweets brought in from different regions, and if possible loot from the black citadel namely any surviving records of ancient magic from charr of ages passed.

The more a male can provide the better his standing socially would be. This idea comes from the nickname "Gold Legion" which I personally like to attribute to their focus on status and appearances.

As for the female charr it goes without saying their thoughts or wants aren't really considered, a charr who can prove herself as a proper "Domina" and govern her household with a steady claw is given more benefits than any other female by leagues. The Domina is expected to be the one keeping things in order and oversee the education of cubs: for sons to ensure they are obeying their teachers and follow shaman's teachings, for daughters to learn how to run a household and prepare her to find mate, and keep track of any unrelated females also in the household usually kept as slaves.

Being Domina being allowed to actually keep their cubs close to them instead of sending them off to the Fahar like most legion charr is one of the precious few blessings a female flame charr can hold, especially being able to protect their cubs something they can have total control over (this is also what would lead some brave females rearing their cubs to be better creating males like Efram). They would also have their time to "shine" in hosting celebrations in their compounds and on a more grim note showing newly enslaved female charr how "happy" their lives could be if they would simply obey.

Stopping here before it gets too long, but yeah! I have ALOT of thoughts about flame legion charr and they're by no means misunderstood or anything and I fully understand WHY they're just a misogynistic punching bag for our commanders, still I love stories where despite a horrible society and world, the hero manages to pull through while keeping their own identity and you'll be seeing that in my upcoming fanfic!

Baruhn's first and last mission in the name of the legions, just before joining flame.

He'd then, during a battle against Ebonhawke, meet the human girl Molly. And together, they would work towards peace between humans and charr. Baruhn did some mercenary work as an Ash spy during that time, mostly collecting intel on Iron by using his smoke shaman training, and later joined the Pact as commander.
