A new paradigm: Decentralize the local economy
The last few years have changed the perspective from which we are observing the world.
Many breakthroughs, that for a long time were thought to be impossible, as if they were mere science fiction fantasies, are now progressively coming to life. Newspapers and Twitter accounts talk everyday about chimps being cloned, self driving cars, humans going soon to Mars (after electric cars have been shot in that direction) or robots taking citizenships.
Technological innovations are leaving us astonished, numb to the overwhelming novelties coming next.
Another technology now is trying to transform how society is organized, from how we relate to money to the profound trust relation from which we live and understand the world.
As said by Yuval Harari:
“People are willing to do such things when they trust the figments of their collective imagination. Trust is the raw material from which all types of money are minted. When a wealthy farmer sold his possessions for a handful of gold coins and traveled with them to another province, he trusted that upon reaching his destination other people would be willing to sell him rice, houses, and fields in exchange for the gold. Money is accordingly a system of mutual trust, and not just any system of mutual trust: Money is the most universal and most efficient system of mutual trust ever devised.”
Now we are in the dawn of a new era, where a new paradigm is altering the rules embedded in our centralized world: the blockchain.
The trust now in this new economical framework is not given to human organizations or central banks, but to immutable algorithms rewarding hashpower from decentralized miners not subjected to external authority.
This technology is so giving the ability to remove many middle-men in economic transactions and is giving the opportunity to finance startups without venture capitalists, universities, banks or other institutions choosing in advance which project deserve to be funded.
This will bring a new wave of inventiveness and innovation we will be overwhelmed by. Through direct relation between investors and early stage startups, new ideas can so be brought to life. This because many little investors can have the same power of few VC. This already generated an explosion of hope where hundreds of new blockchain-related companies have been broadly financed with cryptocurrencies. Billions have been collected by less then a thousand projects, making this new funding system the first choice for many new startups.
This happened through ICOs, beginning from the publishing of white papers and the following crowdfunding campaigns. But… for the moment, no crypto-team have created a mainstream product… something that everyone uses everyday.
If we exclude the financial aspect from everything strictly connected with transactions of value, from wallets to exchanges or between different actors, the percentage of actual use of any blockchain based currencies in the common world, is still reduced to crumbs.
What is missing today for a blockchain technology to be easily adopted and brought to the masses for the benefit of all participants, in a new collaborative economical framework?
Probably, what is missing in the cryptosphere is a project whose tokens make sense to normal people, that do not encourage only inherent speculative use. A token looking at a broader purpose than merely raising funds during an ICO. A project that has a plan to distribute its revolution in a graceful way, without creating highly centralized capital gains, but a highly distributed growth between stakeholders. In short, a project that manages to create an utility token for the local economy and that believes in its token future stability.
Localflow aims to be that project.

After a quarter century into the Internet age we are seeing that net neutrality is gone, Internet Tech Giants are eroding standard economic ecosystems and centralized unicorns are sucking attention, time, data and money from every human local social-economic network around the world.
While on the other hand, the cryptosphere ecosystem is still seen as a place for techies and geeks, perceived as too complicated to understand or dangerous to be involved with.

IOTA was able to win a new e-mobility partner for cooperation. InnoEnergy intends to use the Tangle Protocol to optimize existing business models in the field of e-mobility and to make them future-proof.
IOTA reports that the IOTA Foundation and InnoEnergy Scandinavia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly research the development of e-mobility and smart contracts in the energy sector in the future.
InnoEnergy researches in the field of sustainable energy and supports startups and innovations throughout Europe. Together with one of the largest property owners from Sweden, ÖrebroBostäder (ÖBO), the company has launched a whole series of pilot projects including EVe.
Eve is an initiative within the E-REGIO project that specializes in the implementation of innovative e-mobility services. The IOTA Tangle protocol will be deployed as a pilot within the Eve Smart community based on open source distributed ledger technology.
The following video shows a charging station for electric cars based entirely on IOTA. Here, vehicles can connect to the charging station to charge the battery. The special thing here is that the car practically pays for itself the costs of the refueling process in IOTA and everything runs completely autonomously.

The Dutch knowledge and innovation centre ElaadNL has recently released the world’s first autonomously operating IOTA charging station.
This Wednesday, April 18, 2018, was the day when the world’s first IOTA charging station was released by the Dutch knowledge and innovation centre ElaadNL.
The innovative charger is located in the Netherlands, in business park Arnhems Buiten, as a part of the new ElaadNL test site that offers all kinds of charging facilities available within the country, including a fast charger, a charging island, a battery, two charging lanterns and the IOTA charger. The test site is publicly available, which means that anyone holding IOTA and driving an electric car can now easily access the newly provided opportunity.
Specifically designed for the Internet of Things (IoT) environment, the IOTA Tangle represents itself an open-source protocol that facilitates novel Machine-to-Machine interactions, such as secure data transfer and fee-less real-time micropayments.
The charging station operates autonomously, without a need for communication protocol, and does not require a charge card or subscription to conduct transactions. The meter values are stored every 15 minutes in the Tangle, which ensures reliable and irrefutable administration.
In today’s rapidly digitalizing world, this technology seems to be very promising and useful for further exploration in the field of e-mobility.
As Onoph Caron, Managing Director of ElaadNL, has commented to the recent release:
“This charger shows the ability of using real machine to machine communications and micropayments, with the use of IOTA as a secure layer for these payments and data. ElaadNL researches all kinds of innovative and smart technologies with regard to charging electric cars. DLT-technology might become a widespread thing in the near future. Now we can explore and research its possibilities on our testing ground in Arnhem.”
Alisa Maas, Head of Mobility at the IOTA Foundation has also expressed her enthusiasm about the breakthrough innovation:
“IOTA is thrilled to see ElaadNL take their IOTA smart charging station development to the next level. This solution demystifies IOTA’s potential to become the backbone for the Machine Economy. Thanks to ElaadNL’s cutting edge innovation, seamless e-mobility is taking one big leap forward and we look forward to sharing this achievement with the rest of our growing ecosystem, at the crossroads of mobility, energy and smart cities sectors.”
The charger leverages the charging cable and special hardware, which is also used for the newly developed communication in e-Mobility ISO 15118, between car and charger to setup this connection. When the car is connected to the charging station, the hardware within the charges establishes a TCP/IP connection, which in its turn allows for the exchange of relevant data, followed by payments (IOTA) in a Machine-to-Machine mode.
The station has already undergone a testing with a mini Tesla model car equipped with the hardware to support the transaction. If an electric car is not equipped with the required hard- and software, a driver has an opportunity to charge it simply by sending IOTA tokens directly to the charger using the normal IOTA wallet. At press moment, the IOTA token is equal to 1,95 USD, according to CoinMarketCap.
Initiated by the joint Dutch grid operators, ElaadNL represents itself a knowledge and innovation centre that researches and tests the possibilities for charging electric cars in a reliable, affordable and sustainable way.
IOTA is a Germany-based not-for-profit foundation which aims to support the development and standardization of new distributed ledger technologies (DLT), including the IOTA Tangle.

World renowned non-profit blockchain foundation based in Germany, IOTA, has today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with InnoEnergy Scandinavia (InnoEnergy), an innovative firm responsible for sustainable energy across Europe.
The partnership, which was made possible due to the involvement of InnoEnergy in IOTA’s Data Marketplace initiative, according Wilfried Pimenta’s (head of Biz Dev at IOTA) statement on medium, was directed towards advancement of “smart community solutions and business model innovation”.
Due to InnoEnergy’s affiliation with ÖrebroBostäder (ÖBO), a large public building owners that implements a pilot testbed facilities which includes EVe, a part of E-REGIO project, the IOTA- InnoEnergy collaboration will also involve ÖBO.

“The blockchain brings important advantages to vital areas of digital transformation. These include the decentralized structure and also the high inherent level of security, plus protection against manipulation.”
“Existing processes will be designed more efficiently and completely new business models will be developed.”
