Sparktail, a 22-year-old hedgehog standing 1.26 m tall, possesses a unique electrical power that was conferred on him after he was accidentally hit by an overloaded electrical outlet in his youth. Although he has developed incredible powers, he also bears the emotional scars of this incident. One day, while exploring the surrounding area, he was captured by Dr Eggman's forces.

Imprisoned in Dr Eggman's laboratories despite his small size, Sparktail undergoes experiments designed to harness his unique electrical powers. However, he remains determined to resist and find a way to escape.

After being captured, Sparktail becomes a central plot element. Sonic and his team learn of his imprisonment and do everything in their power to free him. Using his electrical powers, Sparktail manages to short-circuit the security devices, enabling the team to rescue him.
