Heres my board gameee! Games are awesome portals because you enter the world of the game and follow the rules and guidelines and even get invested into the lore of the game and its characters. I added backstories for every character to make the players feel more involved with the story and why these characters are going on this journey

Hey guyss so this was my final project! Like i showed in class i made a board game! Its a cool example of a portal because I love playing games and to me a game is a portal into a world where youre literally following all the rules and guidlines and lore behind it. To add more depth i made backstories for every character to get an insight into who they are and why they are going on this journey! I had so much fun making it. 25/10 would do again haha

I used to not like food that wasn't American or Americanized. Then I went to Mirch Masala on El Cajon. I will say that I went through a pretty big transformation as Indian food is straight fire, and I literally eat it probably twice a week now.

I definitely like Donnie Darko, and I am happy that Alex showed it to us. Honestly, I showed it to my friends and they loved it too. Thank you Alex!

Deadpool is very uncanny
Dead pool is very busted in the face, and honestly I found the lack of skin that he displays to be uncanny. I think its fair to say that the lack of skin on a living mammal is pretty damn abject.

Ready Player 1
I thought this novel was a really creative interpretation on the hero's journey. I liked that it was a futuristic story that also held close ties to the past, especially since our class wasn't alive yet in the 80's. The only thing I trouble with was the fact that everything kept falling into place for Wade. Yes, there were many trials and difficult things he had to face, but the ending seemed too easy for me.

The Power of Myth
For anyone who is interested in going further with Joseph Campbell's philosophies, this book is a 10/10 recommendation. I opens up so many doors to see the world through, and connects the dots between cultures and time periods to help us understand our place in time right now.

Joseph Campbell had already been an influence to me before this class, but now that I've taken this course I find the hero's journey in our culture and myths all the time! You can see that hero myths have been part of the foundations of entire cultures and societies.

RP1
I especially enjoyed ready player one this semester as one of our readings. It was a bit longer and more dense than the other books for this class, however it gave so much opportunities for discussion and reading. When reading I was constantly finding myself deep into thought about the book and how it was a great representation of a portal, and how it was interesting that the portal lead the characters into a virtual dimension, rather than a physical one. I thought that was a great change from the other books to show that portals do not necessarily have to always be fully physical.

THANK YOU
I just wanted to thank you Alex for an amazing English class this semester, and it opened my eyes again to literature and how interesting and captivating it can be. The class was always engaging and always had an interesting topic discussed at hand. I was especially thankful that the class was adapted to the students constantly throughout the semester. You are an amazing teacher & I am excited for your future students next semester to experience the great class we did!

Adaptations - A Wrinkle in Time
I took my niece and nephew to see the film adaptation in theaters this past weekend, and they loved it! I actually thought it was a great film and they stayed loyal to the story. The three Mrs. were very different from what I had imagined them to be, however. That was my only "complaint," but I got used to it pretty quick!

Project
For my project I painted a picture of a girl looking into a mirror with the reflection of a brain. My project was based around the idea that a mirror was a portal into the mind, as what we see reflected is highly subjected to what is held in our mind. No two people will ever see the same image reflected, which is due to our brains. If we are happy then we see better things of ourselves in the reflection, just as if we are sad or depressed we see worse things. The image in the mirror is so subjective, and we should not stress ever too much about it due to this.

Adaptations
As I have talked about previously I don't believe we ever truly know the consequences of our actions good or bad. This theme is adapted into many different mediums but my favorite remains Alan Watts the Story of The Chinese Farmer. If you haven't heard Alan Watts tell this story please look it up on youtube immediately.
