This year is lining up to be a great hunting season. Have my new home state of Montana tags and received this email last night. I drew my elk tag in one of the prettiest, most black bear infested, and coolest elk woods. The La Sal mountains cover everything from the alpine, to conifer and aspen forests, to P&J lands, to sagebrush flats. Elk can be found in all of it. Thanks for tje going away gift Utah! Day 1 of @conservationalliance fly in in the books. Great day meeting with Senators and Representatives from many states to discuss LWCF and public land packages. Progress was made (hopefully) and the next few weeks during the lame duck session will be key. Montana. Thanks for a great week. Good times with lots of great people. However, 2 things happened that I am most thankful for: 1) Meat crisis averted. We were on the verge of running out of wild game. While this won't last too long I am extremy thankful to the buck and birds to help fill the freezer back up. 2) Don't hunt having expectations. The biggest lesson for me this week is that zero of my expectations going into the hunt were realized. And thats a good thing.
