J.D. here about to take the bar, if there’s a bag of weed, or anything that a police officer could reasonably believe to be contraband, they’re allowed to search/seize it under the plain view doctrine. As long as the police officer is legally allowed to be where they are, if they see illegal contraband in plain sight, they’re allowed to take it and potentially search the rest of your car without a constitutional violation, as you’ve just given them probable cause to search for additional contraband.
