My favorite underrated animated movies
The Prince of Egypt (1998): Dreamworks Animation’s beautiful take on the story of Moses from the Bible. It has complex characters fighting their inner demons and strong female characters ready to take freedom into their own hands even if the men aren’t. With mature themes, this animated movie has elements that younger children could never understand. The creativity is stunning, the music is delightful, and artistic style is breathtaking. With the voice talents of Ralph Fiennes, Michelle Pfeiffer, Steve Martin, Sandra Bullock, Martin Short and Helen Mirren (trailer)
Joseph King of Dreams (2000): Made with the same quality as its fellow Dreamworks Animation film, The story of Joseph, a young man with eleven jealous older brothers who sell him into slavery. After winding up in Egypt, the Pharroh discovers his gift for interpreting dreams and seeing the future. He is able to make a life for himself a comfortable life for himself in high society Egypt with his wife until his eleven brothers come knocking at his door, not knowing it is their brother. A story about never giving up on your gifts even in your darkest hour. With beautiful music, impressive animation, and the voice talents of Ben Affleck this movie is grossly underrated for the work that went into it. (trailer)
Anastasia (1997): The story of a royal victim of a massacre upon the Russian Royal family follows one of the only survivors of the rebellion. Anastasia, who remembers nothing of her royal past, is an orphan looking for family in Paris. An entire movie driven by a young woman’s motivation and determination to find herself after suffering from amnesia. With catchy animation, a thrilling and heartwarming story, and the voice talents of Meg Ryan, John Cusack, Bernadette Peters, and Angela Lansbury, it is a movie that can capture the interest of all audiences. (trailer)
Other animated movies that were over-shadowed by popular animation:
How To Train Your Dragon 1 (2010): DRAGONS! While the second one was more popular, this original still holds one of my favorite soundtracks and stories.
The Road To El Dorado (2000): Filled to the brim with witty humor and of course a kick-ass female character too.
Balto (1995): An action packed story about how even dogs can feel like outcasts and heroes.
Brother Bear (2003): Makes me cry every time because of the strength of family without any romantic aspect to it.
Please add more movies that you guys thought are incredibly beautiful and seriously overshadowed or underrated!

The library at Mafra National Palace in Portugal. Where, to keep books from being damaged by insects, they uses 500 bats! The bats are kept in boxes during the day but at night they are let out and eat up to double their own body weight in insects. (Info taken from this article at bookwire. Thanks to amygarvey for telling me about it!)
I think I need to go there. Do you think they’d notice if I moved in?
