online fandom is so fun because we’ll be talking about very serious character moments and analyzing them and stuff and there will be a lull in the discussion and someone will be like “and then they fuck about it” and then we’re all like yeah and then they fuck about it

Today, Dean finds that the smell of campfire smoke has lingered on his collar, and for the first time in a long time, he was able to tie the burning scent to family and love as opposed to loss and heartbreak.

Today, Dean accidentally cuts his hand while cooking. Cas immediately crosses the room and heals the wound with a soft touch. Dean thanks him and continues on preparing the meal. Later, he looks down at his hand and notices a very faint crop of freckles, now residing on the same stretch of skin he'd been healed. They're so faint, he wouldn't have even noticed them if he didn't know the back of his hand like, well, the back of his hand. He wonders how many of the freckles that litter his body had been there before Cas, and how many were markers of the angel's growing fondness for humanity since.

Today Dean, Sam, Charlie, Cas, and Jack all went to the Renaissance Festival. Charlie is obviously in her full royalty attire, Sam is dressed as the eleventh doctor, and Jack has gone as Marty McFly,but Dean doesn't dress up at first. A few hours into the day Charlie and her very conveniently loaded credit card have secured him a very cool leather-accented costume that they're all sure they'll find him in casually around the bunker for the next month or so. Dean is also very excited when he buys two full turkey legs at one of the food vendors. Cas does not dress up, but Dean buys him a flimsy pair of fairy wings to wear on his back. Cas calls them demeaning, but happy wears them the rest of the day.

Today, Cas felt that the world was a bit to loud and bright for him, and so stayed in his room reading most of the day. Dean came in and sat with him for a bit under the soft glow of Cas's new lava lamp. They speak every now and then, asking eachother questions, ones that would never have come up in regular coversation, each bookended with comfortable and content silences.

Today, Dean's hand lingers a few seconds too long while patting Cas on the back. Cas looks up at him smiling, grabing Dean's hand and squeezing it with a knowing glance. Now that their lives have calmed down, there is no rush to define themselves. They'll be happy together, come what may.
