After Yingxing’s ‘death’, Jing Yuan took it upon himself to learn the art of the forge from Huaiyan. Did it leave with absolutely ZERO downtime and cut into his sleeping? Yes. But at the same time, he insisted it was important for him to learn it that no one dared question him about it more than once.

#hc; jing yuan #//He’s no expert by any means #//But he learned enough to be satisfied with the idea he is connecting to YX in this way #//THAT was his real reason #//By learning; he would in a way have a piece of his old friend with him; esp learning from HIS master to begin with #//He wouldn’t dare try and replicate YX’s techniques tho #//THOSE are sacred #//But occasionally; he’ll forge little memento/decorative pieces to learn at his little shrine in JY’s home #//He talks to it frequently to; even knowing damn well he could get in trouble for it #//Preserving YX’s memory like this #//!But he doesn’t care #//Where he can afford a little defiance; he will do so and gladly #//The shrine itself is unmarked save for a few hints and a more overt tribute to BH #//Its separate from his own ancestral one; so people think he just truly loved and mourned BH #//Little do they know how much more he mourns #//But DF; YX; And BH all have their places on it #//And all get gifts from him; like they used to from YX back in the day #//He was tempted to make something for blade; but the idea wound up being so abhorrent to him mid forge; he even permanently discarded the #thing he’d been working on. he doesn’t know where the mishapen amulet would be now #//All he knows is he got so ‘irrationally’ enraged; he grabbed the thing himself and cast it off the Luofu; never to be seen again #//Yes he would up w terrible burns; esp since he didn’t register the pain as he carried it all the way to the luofu’s edge; it was THAT bad #//He was so caught up in his anger and disgust in himself for wanting to treat ‘Blade’ as YX; composure & reason was utterly lost to him #//Happened fairly recently too; which is even more of an embarrassment to himself #//Bc he figured he’d be RATIONAL about him #//It wasn’t until witnessing Blade’s fight with JL that he began to come to terms w Blade #//And his attempts to not see him as the same began to crumble again against his better judgement; making him mourn YX anew #//A part of him does want to be the one to kill Blade in the end—perhaps it’s his mercy; killing him & allowing an old friend to stay w him #//Though he doesn’t know just HOW doing so would affect HIM personally—THAT part worries JY greatly #//Oops veered topic lmaoooo
