hi! sorry if this is a weird question, but what do you mean when you say this is a literate rp? like what are you looking for from members/what are the expectations? i’ve never joined a rp like this before.

hello! this isn't a weird question at all. essentially, literate means that your roleplaying is written like you're telling a story-- done paragraph style, with no chat speak, abbreviations, or slang ( except what would be used verbally ). we want writers who actually want to write -- not simply trade dms / texting or post sns updates all day as their primary or preferred form of role playing; these should be supplementary. it also means that we expect our writers to have a good grasp of spelling and grammar. not perfection, of course ( we all make mistakes ) but legibility is important.

ANATOMY, CYCLES, COURTING / MATING. mature content!

alphas: ruts are experienced every two to three months, and they can last three to five days on average. during this time, an alpha will have an intense desire to breed their mate / partner ( regardless of the partner's gender ). their scent will be stronger, they will produce more saliva ( which has healing properties and used for marking / mating purposes ), and produce a knot that will tie them together with their partner. while alphas can knot outside of a rut, it takes significantly less time to go down ( usually 10-20 minutes at most ); while within a rut, an alpha could potentially knot for up to an hour at a time. outside of their typical cycle schedule, pheromones from their partner in their cycle can induce mini-ruts or rut-like states in response. alphas can only mark someone as their mate while in a rut.

betas: while typically they do not experience a mating drive, they can experience a small heat or a rut when mated. which one they lean toward depends entirely on physiological responses to their mate. while it a beta mated to an omega may experience more rut-like symptoms, there has yet to be an exact science discovered. a beta could just as easily experience a kind of rut while being mated to an alpha. their 'cycles' are few and far in-between; every four to five months and usually only last two to three days at most. some betas may not be particularly bothered by the effects, while others may feel it more prominently. however, betas cannot develop a knot, and they do not self-lubricate even if they can experience some of the same symptoms of a cycle. admin note: we are leaving a few things up to the player in regards to betas. betas are often 'left out' in terms of a/b/o lore; and while some players may appreciate and want to play up their typical neutrality ( i.e not experiencing a cycle at all ), we wanted to give the option of having a little more flexibility / options should they choose it. as it stands, some are more effected by pheromones of other genders, while others are not. omegas: every two to three months, an omega goes through a heat; and often becomes overwhelmed with the desire to be bred and / or knotted. it can last four to six days on average. particularly fertile omegas may even go in heat every month if not suppressed. omegas of either gender self lubricate naturally, and this is even more true while during a heat. while it in the past it was said that only a knot from an alpha could assuage a heat, modern wolves know better. the only instance where a knot is needed is when the omega is mated to an alpha, and thus desires their knot. however, omegas can be assisted by other omegas, or betas during their heat and be just as satisfied. during their heat, an omega is at the peak of fertility and smells particularly enticing to lure in a mate. if they are mated, or have someone they are particularly attached to emotionally, they will only want that person -- or no one. if an unwanted person attempts to seduce them, the omega will become hostile, and aggressive. courting is a period similar to dating, but with a far more permanent intent. some wolves go directly into courting, while others do have a dating period -- it depends purely on the couple. while dating may not be exclusive, courting always is. and courting traditions can vary from family to family, but it typically includes the following: after you have decided you wish to court someone, you would begin giving gifts. they can be anonymous, or not. you can give however many you would like, as long as they are accepted, before making an official declaration to court. if that is also accepted, then you would be permitted to court officially. it is similar to dating, but entirely exclusive and with a permanent bond at the end. courting should last a minimum of two weeks; but it can last longer. is courting just like dating? sort of! dating can be seen as more casual; and you may ( but not always ) date more than one person at a time. it's a way to get to know each other as potential romantic partners without too much pressure or obligation, beyond what you both decide. courting is the next level up -- it demands total exclusivity. you both are interested in each other on a serious level, and are intent on proving that devotion. poly wolves are extremely rare because of the possessive nature wolves inherently have; but even those who are poly will focus entirely on their courtee during this time. mated wolves who have had time to settle into their bond, may invite others to join the fold from time to time or on a more permanent basis -- however, you can only be mated to one person, even if others are involved romantically / sexually.

very idol is on scent blockers ( which can block your scent to varying degrees. ), and contraceptives. suppressants are optional but cannot be used consecutively for more than 6 months before you must have 1-2 heat or rut cycles before going back on them. this is to ensure there are no long-lasting side effects. they can also be used in emergencies to temporarily top a heat or rut cycle, should it crop up somewhere undesired. it will hold off the cycle for 48 hours at most. changing subgenders ( plot - wise ) :  to a degree, this can be possible with hormone therapy.  but there are limitations.  for example, an alpha can take omega hormones that can induce ‘heats',  but they cannot get pregnant.  an omega can take alpha hormones and will have the desire to breed rather than be bred, it won’t cause a knot to form. ( this could be subject to change. ) with that said, any member at any time can change their claim's subgender and carry on as if they have always been an alpha / beta / omega. just message the admin account.

extra tidbits: there are some things we are leaving up to players to decide, such as : anatomy regarding omegas and alphas of different genders. we are inclusive, and lgtbq+ friendly -- so it is wholly within the realm of possibility to have a female alpha with a cock / knot, or a male omega with a vagina. trans muses, intersex, you name it; totally up to you, since any nsfw material where that would even come into play will be private.

what to expect from the application: while it will have all the unusual necessities required ( basic ooc / ic information ) there will also be a required place for a role play sample of the muse you are applying for as this is a literate role play. it will need to be a minimum of 200 words. the exact context is up to you ( just keep it sfw ) -- it can even be from another role play, as long as it is featuring the claim you are applying for.

if you don't see your muse on here at all, your ask may have gotten eaten, or i've contacted you about a missing password. if you were not able to get your original reservation, you are more than welcomed to send in another! there were several duplicates for a number of these claims, so i apologize for any inconvenience. however ( applicable only until we open ) we will offer members interested in currently reserved claims to be placed on a waiting list. you will need to contact me off anon, or provide your tumblr username if interested. in the event the reservation for your desired muse expires / no application is submitted or is denied, we will reach out to you if you are still interested. from that time, you have 24hrs to confirm your interest and reserve that face before the claim becomes publicly available, or move on to the next interested party on the waiting list for that claim ( maximum of 2 ). keep in mind that at present, there is no firm opening date and applications are not open, so you will need to monitor our blog for updates.

we would definitely want to have events / community activities, and are definitely taking ideas! i am not sure as to the frequency of them, but that is another thing we can discuss as a community ( whether bi weekly / monthly, ongoing, ect. )

it does make sense! they should come into our inbox in the order they are received, if tumblr works correctly. which ... i know sometimes it doesn't. but we're not sure there's a better way than that, unfortunately.

we're not thinking anything too lengthy is required; perhaps 150-200 words which is about a paragraph. of course if you want to write more, you're more than welcomed to -- but we didn't want to require it to be massive in length.
