How Has Instagram Changed In The Past Decade
In just a matter of a few months, Instagram will be 10 years since it was first released. Indeed the photo-sharing platform became a sensation back on October 6, 2010. However, things at the moment were a lot different than they are now. As a matter of fact, at the time, Instagram was simply a platform from where one could share photos with friends and family.
Who would’ve thought that years later, that photo-sharing platform would become the second-largest social media site in the world? Well, it did. And that’s why today, we want to go over some of the changes Instagram has had over the span of 10 years.
Of course, it goes without saying that listing every single update and feature the platform has had over that time would make this article endless. So, for now, we will limit this list to 10 changes Instagram had over the past decade.
Hashtags – 2011
Unlike many new platforms, Instagram didn’t have much trouble growing its user base. As a matter of fact, a week after its launch, the photo-sharing app had already gotten 100k users. Shortly after, (two months to be more accurate), Instagram got its first million active users. Indeed, this was a sign that the site was off to a good start.
Therefore, Instagram founders, Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger started working on making the platform even better. And so in January 2011, a mere month after reaching the one million mark, Instagram added the now-famous hashtags.
You see, at the time of its launch, Instagram was basically a platform from where you could just share photos with your friends and family. However, things changed pretty soon when hashtags were introduced. At this point, we all know that hashtags allow you to find content you like more easily. And adding them to Instagram proved to be an effective tool that changed things forever.
Instagram Direct – 2013
In 2013, Instagram surprised us with Direct. A new messaging feature designed to allow Instagram users to message each other using the platform. The main purpose of this feature was to compete against some of the biggest messaging services of that time. And well… It worked.
Over time, Direct has evolved enormously. So much so, that Instagram users are now able to send not only photos and videos, but also audio notes, gifs, and much more. In short, we are talking about a messaging tool that offers pretty much the same and even more than that of its competitors.
Finally, there were rumors about Instagram wanting to make Direct an independent app. But, that never happened.
Instagram Ads – 2015
So, by 2015 Instagram was already owned by Facebook. In fact, the photo-sharing app had been acquired by the blue giant back in 2012. But, it wasn’t until 2015 that the app became a business opportunity for everyone with a desire to grow. You see, Instagram had already been working on its business version.
But, they were still lacking something. And that something was ads. Let’s face it, advertisement is one of the best ways to make money online. And Instagram knew how to profit from that opportunity. They used the platform to allow brands to create 30 seconds ads promoting their services or products. And in return, they made millions of dollars.
The new Instagram ads system also changed over time and of course, they worked hard to improve the service and get to more people willing to use the system.
Instagram Boomerang – 2015
Instagram launched some major updates in 2015. But not all of them were designed for the business field. As a matter of fact, regular users had the fortune of testing a new standalone app created by Instagram that is still used in 2020. Instagram Boomerang as we all know it, it’s an app that allows users to shoot a one-second burst of five photos, and then turn it into a silent video that plays forwards and reverses in a loop.
We can’t say for sure how many people still use the app. But, what we do know is that ever since it was released, Instagram Boomerang has been downloaded over a hundred million times. If that doesn’t mean success, I don’t know what does.
Instagram Stories – 2016
The year is 2016. Instagram had already become a sensation among all of us. But, it still had a lot to work on. The ambition to become the second-best social media site in the world made Instagram work on new things that a lot of us would learn to love. And in 2016, they presented Instagram Stories.
There’s no much need to explain what Stories are. But, in the weird remote case that you are clueless about it, here’s a brief explanation. Instagram Stories is a feature created in the year 2016 that allows Instagram users to share moments of their every day lives with all their friends and followers.
Moreover, Stories also became a great option for brands to advertise their products or services. Oh, and we can’t forget to mention the endless tools Instagram made available for us to use on Stories. Gifs, Stickers, Music, etc.
What’s funny about this all is that Instagram was actually accused of stealing the Stories format from one of its competitors. Snapchat. You see, the truth is that Snapchat already had Stories on their platform. But, not only that.
They actually also had a version of Direct before Instagram launched its own. Perhaps, we can say Instagram took inspiration from the yellow ghost app and gave us something improved.
Instagram New Logo – 2016
One of the things that had us recognize Instagram right away was that of its logo. The iconic retro brown and cream camera with a rainbow stripe icon was the one thing we never thought would change. But, we were wrong. In 2016 Instagram opted to change its classic logo to a pink, purple, orange version of it.
Surprisingly, people didn’t really like the change. As a matter of fact, I remember reading an article calling the new logo, “A Travesti icon” or something around those lines. However, time went by and users learned to adapt. So now the colorful logo we all know is what represents Instagram in the present time.
Instagram Shopping – 2017
With Instagram on the rise, it was just a matter of time until the company found a new way to make money off the platform. And so they invented Shopping. Instagram Shopping had been under development since November 2016. However, it was officially released in March 2017 in a selected number of countries.
The new e-commerce feature was designed to allow brands to sell their products or services through Instagram. And users to buy them with the power of one tap. Fortunately, Shopping then expanded to most countries in the world and it got tons of updated that made the experience of shopping on Instagram way better.
IGTV – 2018
On June 20, 2018, Instagram launched IGTV. A standalone app created to compete directly with Youtube. One of the most appealing aspects of this new app was that users could watch videos vertically. People in general were allowed to upload 10 min long videos to the platform. And verified creators could upload videos up to 1 hour long.
The app does not let you monetize content as Youtube does. But it’s still a good option when it comes to market your brand. Finally, while IGTV comes integrated within the main Instagram app, the video-sharing platform has been downloaded at least one million times from the PlayStore, and who knows how many more from the App Store.
One Billion Users – 2018
Currently, Facebook is the number one social media platform in the world. And unless it is shut down by the government, we don’t think there will be any other company that will equal Facebook’s power in one million years. Or perhaps, there could be. You see, Instagram was off to a good start from the very beginning.
As we mentioned when we started this article, it only took one week for the platform to reach its first 100k users. Well, ever since Instagram was bought by Facebook, the site has kept on growing non-stop. And finally, in 2018, Instagram reached its first BILLION mark. One billion monthly active users. Incredible, right? This has made Instagram the second largest social media platform in the world. And probably Facebook’s replacement is such site were ever to disappear.
The news of Instagram reaching a billion monthly active users was announced on the same day that the IGTV app was presented.
Instagram Removes Likes – 2019
Finally, let’s talk about likes. Instagram likes have been incredibly important for users all over the world. Lots of brands rely on likes to choose influencers that could promote their products. But, there’s more. Instagram likes were always a mean to measure popularity amongst youngsters on Instagram.
Unfortunately, the whole popularity game soon became a problem for Instagram. Since lots of teenagers started to deal with depression due to social media pressure. Things that we adults think are stupid. Instagram was labeled as the saddest app in the world. So, what did they do? Well, they removed the likes from posts. This way, no one would have to suffer bullying for not getting likes when posting a photo.
The whole point of removing the like count from posts was to protect the mental health of users in general. And even though lots of people didn’t like the change too much, Instagram still went on with it. However, this like removal thing only applied to certain countries. So, some of us still get to see how many likes a post has.

How Instagram Changed The Life Of A Policewoman
Social media platforms have been changing the lives of thousands of people all over the world. Small business owners who suddenly became successful, regular people who entered the world of influencers. The birth of popular challenges, and so much more. We could certainly keep on and on. But, instead, we are just going straight to the point. The policewoman influencer.
There is no doubt whatsoever that social media platforms allow anyone regardless of their profession to become popular. Moreover, they allow people to influence the masses. There are priests on Youtube that make entertainment content that people do actually want to see. Math teachers, firemen, and of course police officers.
In this particular case, however, there is a policewoman who became an Instagram influencer thanks to a viral trend called the “Bibbidi Bobbidi boo challenge”
How it all started
So, to understand this story, you first need to know the person behind it all. Jossmery Toledo. A Peruvian policewoman who became very popular after doing a Tik Tok challenge known as “Bibbidi Bobbidi boo.” Some of you are probably familiar with this challenge. But, we are still going to give you a short brief of what it is about.
You see, the Bibbidi Bobbidi boo challenge seeks to resemble the cinderella scene from the Disney movie in which the princess gets a dress to go to the prince’s party. It is important to notice that before getting such a dress, the character had nothing but old garments.
So, the trend would have people first posing with something “ugly” looking to then be transformed into hot people. The Bibbidi Bobbidi boo soundtrack would play on the background. Well, Jossmery Toledo did such a challenge first posing with her police uniform to then appear with a tight dress. That was when things changed for her.
Becoming an Influencer
Now, you might be wondering, what does Tik Tok has to do with Instagram? Well, if we are being honest, absolutely nothing. You see, Jossmery Toledo became an Instagram influencer after a journalist caught a glance at her version of the challenge on Tik Tok and decided to make a note about it.
That is how one day, out of nowhere, there were multiple Peruvian papers printing notes such as “Meet the beautiful Peruvian policewoman who is also a model” Digital versions of the newspapers published Toledo’s Instagram. And well… That skyrocketed her career.
So much so, that the former officer (we will explain why we are saying former later) now has over half a million followers. Talk about crazy, right?
Aftermath
So, things went well during the first days. Jossmery Toledo became very popular and everyone began talking about her. Unfortunately, everything changed pretty quickly when the official law enforcement institution opened an investigation against Toledo for posing with her work uniform on the Tik Tok challenge.
Apparently, high ranks of the Peruvian Police institution were not happy to see the uniform being used in a challenge. In fact, they stated it was simply disrespectful.
In general, there was a positive and negative outcome from the media attention the former agent of the law got. Fortunately, most of the things Toledo got to experience were positive. As a matter of fact, why don’t you take a look at the following list to see how things changed for her.
Positive
. She made a music video . She has a higher source of income . Brands often get in touch with her to make business . Her Instagram account grew in just a mere month . Toledo is hired by night clubs for short presentations
Negative
. People started to bully her . Her life became public . Gossip shows started to criticize her . She left the law enforcement institution . She had to attend a psychologist to deal with the pressure
Note
Some people state it’s not fair Jossmery received so much hatred from internet users after making the popular Tik Tok challenge. As a matter of fact, there was a Facebook post where a Peruvian policeman can be seen doing the same challenge as well. However, he was not subjected to be investigated and thus people did not criticize him.
This led people to blame the whole situation on sexism. Crazy, huh? Now, tell us. What do you think?

Instagram’s 6 Second Blink Challenge
Instagram has a wide number of features we all can enjoy. However, in all the time the platform has been in our lives, there has never been a game for us to play. Well, that just changed. You see, ever since Instagram gave us the option to create our own Story filters, there is no limit as to how far we can take our imagination.
As a matter of fact, some filters go viral and famous people start using them on their Stories. But, enough about that. Let’s talk about the filter that users are now using to play on Instagram. The 6 seconds blink filter. Or as every Instagram user is calling it these days – The 6 seconds blink challenge.
The 6 Seconds Blink Challenge
First of all, let’s put some context to this new trend. As a social media user, you have probably come across these fun gifs where there’s a figure moving very fast. A mini-game where the goal is to tap the screen at the right time to make the figure stop where its silhouette is. Well, the 6 seconds challenge is very similar to that.
As a matter of fact, this filter is also about precision. You need to blink at exactly 6 seconds to make the counter above your head stop. And yes, we understand it sounds simple. But, sometimes the simplest things are those that prove the most difficult. It sounds like a completely contradictory thing to say. But, you see, this challenge is indeed somewhat hard.
You need to blink at 6 seconds by the millisecond. That means not 5.999 or 6.0001. 6 seconds exactly. Still think it’s easy? Go on, give it a try and leave us your Instagram handle so we can go check it out.
How To Get The 6 Seconds Blink Filter
So, how does a person get ahold of the so famous 6 seconds blink filter? Well, it’s pretty simple really. All you need to do is to visit the profile of the person who created the filter in the first place. Yana Mishkinis, an AR model who dedicates her time to create filters for everyone to use.
You can look her up on your own, or you can simply click here to visit her profile. Finally, just tap her filter tap below her main photo, and enjoy.
Note
Instagram influencer Yana Mishkinis does not only have the 6 seconds filter, but does also have a wide number of different filters that you can try for fun. Simply check here profile, and choose the one you like the most. Oh, and if you are curious as to how these filters are designed, you might want to check out this article.

My Experience Working With An Instagram Influencer
A couple of months ago, I decided to hire an Instagram influencer to help me grow my brand on Instagram. But, since that was my first time working alongside an influencer to get to my goal. I had no idea of how things would turn out. Finally, after all this time, I have decided to share with you a little bit of my experience and probably open your eyes as to how this whole influencer marketing works.
Also, if you are planning to hire an influencer any time soon. I recommend you to read my article “4 Things to consider before hiring an Instagram influencer.” Now, let’s get started.
My Goal
First of all, I need to give you a few details on what I was looking to achieve at the time that I hired the influencer. By the way, please notice that I am referring to this person simply as “The influencer” because I don’t want to mention the account that I hired and make bad publicity.
In short, the name of the influencer in question will remain anonymous. So, let’s continue. You see, I recently created a Youtube channel with my business partner where we upload music to sleep. We thought it would be a good idea to complement our strategy by creating an Instagram page. And so we did.
Being that our Youtube channel focuses on relaxing music, we thought about uploading daily inspirational quotes on our Instagram page. The idea was to get followers there. And then upload snippets of our videos to link our followers to our Youtube channel. Of course, in order to do this, we needed real followers. And what better way to do so than by hiring an influencer.
youtube
This is the Youtube channel my business partner and I were attempting to promote
The Approach
Getting in touch with the influencer in question was not as challenging as I thought. As a matter of fact, all I had to do was to type a word related to my Instagram page and there it was. In full honesty, I was just lucky to find an influencer that fast. Furthermore, his page was actually on the same niche as mine.
Upon checking on his Bio, I noticed a story highlight titled business. I clicked it and found out that the influencer offered promos for a price. So, I got in touch with him and was surprised to learn that his rate for the service was really really low. To put it briefly, he would charge me $35 for posting whatever I wanted on both stories and feed for 24 hours.
So, I didn’t think that much and just paid the man to seal the deal. Then, I sent him the video I wanted him to post, along with the description and hashtags I wanted him to use. Now, it was just a matter of time to see results.
Statistics
Before hiring the service, I asked the influencer what kind of reach I could expect. He sent me screenshots of some of his posts and statistics showing how good they performed. To put it in a few words, he had about 70,000 followers and his posts were getting around 1 to 5 thousand likes.
Indeed, a good amount of exposure if you are looking to grow from 0. The fact of the matter is that checking at the stats he sent me, convinced me to move forward. But, there was something I didn’t consider. Those were his stats. Stats of an account that already had a base of followers. And there my friends is where I made my first mistake.
Results
For this campaign, I sent the influencer a video. The video contained a fragment of the latest track of sleep music I had uploaded to my Youtube channel. Stock footage and a text that read the following: “For more sleep music every week, subscribe to Healing Deep Sleep on Youtube” – Link in Bio.
I have to be honest here. I thought it was a good strategy. Having the influencer post the video on his page and get people to see the content to then follow me on my page. But, things didn’t go as I expected.
Unfortunately, the first few hours happened and I only managed to gather 5 likes. Want to know what’s funny about that? Those 5 likes were actually from 2 other accounts that I have, one from my business partner, and another one from the Healing Deep Sleep page itself.
In other words, I didn’t get attention from anyone. However, my post did get views. But, all the views were counted on the influencer’s page. It goes without saying that I was frustrated and disappointed.
Finally, I made peace with myself and made a list of the things I did wrong with that campaign. A list that you can read by clicking the hyperlink from above.
In the end, I didn’t get even 0.00001% of what I expected. As a matter of fact, most of my “followers” were actually my friends.
Wrapping Up
Honestly, I don’t blame the influencer. As a matter of fact, I blame myself for not doing a little bit of research on how to properly handle a digital marketing campaign to get better results. Long story short, the influencer offered a service that I decided to buy without giving it much thought.
Had I evaluated things before actually purchasing the service, things could have been better.

4 Things To Consider Before Hiring An Instagram Influencer
Instagram influencers do so much more than just attract masses with pics of their glamorous lives. They have the power of influencing their followers to do things they recommend. In fact, that is the actual reason why so many brands look for them to make a deal. In a nutshell, hiring an Instagram influencer can be extremely good for your business.
But, only if you choose the right influencer. In this particular case, I decided to hire an influencer to see if he could make my Instagram account grow. Now, I would tell you more about my experience. But, I have already written an article about it that you can read by clicking here.
Unfortunately, all I can say here is that I made a bad choice. Therefore, this article. So, let’s dive a little deeper into this and see some of the things you need to consider before hiring an influencer.
The Niche
Make sure to hire an influencer who is in the same niche as you to get better results.
First of all, you need to find an influencer that uploads content related to what you want to promote. Let’s put my account as an example. I recently created an Instagram account where I upload inspirational quotes on a daily basis.
I was just getting started and wanted to grow. So, I looked and found an influencer with almost 70,000 followers who was also in the niche that I was. I hired him and we made the deal.
Unfortunately, I must admit that I didn’t get the results that I expected. But, I’m guessing things would have been much worse if I had hired someone who uploads content completely different than mine.
Interaction
Focus more on the interaction the influencer has with their audience rather than in the number of followers they have.
One of the main things you need to see is the interaction between the influencer and their followers. As a matter of fact, I would highly recommend looking more into the interaction than the number of followers the influencer has. And here’s why: Everyone can have a million followers if they want to.
All they need to do is to buy them online. So, don’t always trust Instagram users with a lot of followers. Instead, focus more on the interaction of their posts. That way, you can make sure that the message you are paying to be promoted will get to actual people.
Business Treatment
Another thing to take into consideration is the treatment you receive from the influencer. For example, if the influencer seems more interested to know when you will be depositing the money rather than what your necessities for the post promotion are. Then, I’m sorry to tell you this. But, you are making a terrible choice.
In all fairness, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to know about money. After all, influencers seal brand deals to get compensated. However, that doesn’t remove the fact that an influencer must provide an excellent service in order to earn their pay. Therefore, they need to at least show a little interest in your needs.
In my case, I made the mistake of hiring the influencer to promote my post even though he didn’t show interest in my project. I asked for his opinion on my approach to see if his audience would like my content. But, well… I had to limit myself to just send him my post and he would just put it on his profile for 24 hours. Again, I made a mistake.
Past Deals
Always look for past deals the influencer might have promoted to see the results the brand got in return for their money.
Finally, you should take a look at their past deals. Honestly, I wish I had done so myself. But, hey, I was looking to gain followers fast and didn’t think about it for a sec. So, here’s the thing. When I hired the Instagram influencer, I was told that my post would be on his profile for 24 hours.
After that, it would disappear. I figured that’s ok – 24 hours is enough for people to start noticing my content. But, then 24 hours passed and guess what? I gained just 2 followers.
Days later I noticed the same influencer had done another deal. This time I went to the profile of the person hiring the services and checked the number of followers he had. Then, I waited until the promotion was over and checked back. He had gained 0 followers.
That made me realize that it is always a good idea to check past deals before actually adventuring yourself on the journey. You save both money and time.

3 Tips For Instagram Newbies To Get Followers
The idea of joining any social media platform and make a career as an influencer has attracted hundreds of thousands of people all over the world. Fortunately, a huge number of users have managed to succeed in their quest to become popular.
However, the truth is that growing on a social media platform is not actually as easy as it sounds. In some cases, it might take years of hard dedication to actually reach the success that you so much look for. So, what can you do to achieve your goals faster?
Well, perhaps just reading this article might help. Here are 3 Tips for Instagram newbies to get followers.
Follow, Like and Comment
One of the most effective ways to get people to know you is to actually start interacting with their accounts. So, let’s imagine the following scenario. You upload a post in which you add hashtags that attract people to like your content. Then, you go to the likes you got and select a person from the list.
Go to their account, check their content, and if you see something you like, heart it. Or better yet, comment on their posts. However, keep in mind that being too pushy might actually hurt this strategy. So, you don’t want to write things such as “Nice content, please follow me.”
Instead, just comment something positive and that will be enough to call that user’s attention. Chances are they will check your account. And if they like your content, they will start following you.
Instagram Stories Interaction
So, another thing you can do to gain more followers is to interact with the people who already follow you. The best way to do so is to use Instagram stories. To put it briefly, there are lots of ways in which you can create engagement. As a matter of fact, Instagram makes it easy for us to do so.
Indeed, we have stickers, gifts, polls, and a lot of tools we can use to create engagement using Instagram stories. For instance, I created an Instagram page a while back ago where I used to upload daily inspirational quotes. One day, I decided to upload a quote about gratefulness. But, I went on to complement it by creating a story poll asking what people were grateful for.
Then, I posted a pic of my dog and said I was grateful to wake up next to him every day. Simply do things like that and you will start getting followers little by little.
Hashtag Research
Finally, one of the most important key factors to growing your Instagram is to use hashtags correctly. Currently, a good hashtag strategy can get you to land lots of followers. However, you do need to know how to properly use them if you want to succeed.
For example, what do you do if you see a hashtag with millions of followers? The first thing that would cross your mind is to select to get to more people, right? Well… Not really. Unfortunately, there’s this misconception that popular hashtags get you more followers.
Think about it this way. You get lost in the supermarket where there is a massive crow of people and your partner is looking for you. They cannot see you because of the number of people around you. However, if the aisles were not as full, you would be easier to find.
Same thing happens to Instagram hashtags. The more popular the hashtag is, the more difficult it is to get found. So do a little research and choose your hashtags wisely.

How To Use The Who Are You Filter On Instagram
So, unless you live under a rock, you have probably already seen the Who are you filter on Instagram. I mean, it’s pretty much impossible not to have seen it. All major celebrities are using it. However, in case you missed the trend, here’s a brief explanation of what it is about.
The “Who are you” Instagram filter basically allows you to play a sort of game in which an array of different characters from Disney, the Simpsons, Harry Potter, and more appear over your head. Then, it stops at a certain character and that indicates who you are supposed to be.
For instance, Mark Ruffalo, better known for his role as Hulk in the MCU used this filter. And, guess what? Yes, he did get the Hulk as his “Who are you” character
Same thing has happened with other celebrities. Some of the Friend’s cast tried the filter too. In short, the who are you filter is something designed to make you have fun for a short period of time.
Variations
The who are you filter on Instagram started off as a filter exclusively portraying Disney Characters. However, when it went viral people started creating variations from it. As a matter of fact, you can now use the filter with different characters from other companies. From Harry Potter to Pixar and even Marvel.
What’s funny though is that people have gone as far as to create variations that some might consider ridiculous. For instance, you can play: What font are you? What age are you? What Cat are you? among others.
How to get it
In order to get the filter, you need to find a friend who used it. Simply go to their stories and check on to see if they used the who are you filter. If they did, the filter’s name will appear under your friend’s handle in the top left corner. Click it and you will get an option allowing you to try the filter.
Finally, all that’s left to do is to simply use it and show the world which character you are. But, please notice that you cannot modify the filter itself. So, if your friend is using the “Which Disney Character are you? but you want to try the “What cat are you? Then you need to find someone who’s used the filter you actually want to try.
Note
In case you do not have any friends who have used the filter. Then you can go straight to the source. The filter was created by a photographer named Arno Partissimo – @arnopartissimo. And saved into one oh his stories highlights. So, all you need to do is to go to his Instagram profile and simply download the filter. That’s pretty much it.

Instagram Ar Influencers – A Trend In The Rise
There was a time when we all were familiar with the term influencer. Just influencer. But, we have to cope with the fact that as time goes by, things change. They change a lot. And to be honest, it gets hard to keep up with all the updates surrounding the digital world. For example, it was not long ago that Instagram influencers went from being just influencers to then be split into different categories.
We have the regular influencer, micro-influencers, nano-influencers, and so on and on and on. Well, things just changed again. You see, social media keeps on evolving every couple of months. And this time, there’s this new thing called AR (Augmented reality).
A tool designed by Facebook. But, that can also be used by Instagram users to create AR filters. In short, Ar filters allow you to put an effect over your face to then show it to the world on your Instagram stories. Ar has become so popular that there are now actual AR influencers who do nothing but to create filters for us all to use. Want to know more? Keep reading!
Instagram Ar Influencers
To put it briefly, an Instagram Ar influencer is basically a person who creates filters and uses them to build their brand. As a matter of fact, filters become sort of their signature on social media. Indeed, you can find models on the photo-sharing platform uploading new Ar filters every week.
From the perspective of a digital marketer, Ar influencers really know what they are doing. The fact of the matter is that Ar has become the thing of the present. Basically, everyone is using filters. Even celebrities. And that is precisely one of the reasons why so many people are into Ar.
Money Making Opportunity
So, Instagram is and will continue to be a platform in which influencers can make money through brand deals. Of course, in order to get a brand deal, you first need to have a significant amount of interaction on your Instagram account. Well, it turns out that creating Ar filters might actually help you get that interaction many people look for.

As a matter of fact, there are Instagram Ar Influencers with millions of followers. Just to mention one of them, we have Alexandra Kisa. An Instagram Ar influencer who upload weekly filters who’s got 1.4 million followers. Impressive don’t you think?
Note
We wouldn’t go as far as to say that every person who has designed an Ar filter is an Ar influencer. However, we would like to make you realize that if you are good enough in Ar filter creation, your life can change for good. As a matter of fact, there are people who became popular at some level after creating a filter that went viral.

Should You Always Use The Same Hashtags On Instagram?
There are many ways in which a person can grow their Instagram account. Some of them easier than others. However, there is one strategy that almost never fails. Care to guess? Hashtags! Instagram hashtags are the perfect tool for users to find content related to their likes. So, let’s say you are into tacos and enchiladas. Then, you just need to type #Mexicanfood.
Indeed, hashtags have made it easier for influencers and brands alike to target their content to a wide audience in the whole world. But, here’s where comes the BIG but. You need to know how to use them properly if you want to actually reach your target audience.
In this particular case, we are going to dive into whether or not you should use the same hashtags in all your posts. So, let’s get started.
Using the same Instagram Hashtags – Right or Wrong?
Now, in order to explain to you more about how hashtags work, I need to give you a little bit of context of how my experience with the tool itself led me to write this article. You see, I recently created a Youtube channel with my business partner and we decided to complement our strategy with an Instagram page as well.
Fortunately, we knew what we wanted. So, it was easier to come up with ideas for our Instagram page. In a nutshell, we decided that it would be wise to upload daily inspirational quotes to draw people to our site. Of course, just like lots of people getting started with brands on Instagram, we figured:
Hey, why don’t we look for the best hashtags related to quotes online?
View this post on Instagram
Follow for daily mindful quotes. @healingdeepsleep #quotes #love #quote #quoteoftheday #motivation #quotestoliveby #life #motivationalquotes #lovequotes #inspiration #poetry #instagram #inspirationalquotes #lifequotes #instagood #quotesaboutlife #quotesoftheday #quotesdaily #literasi #quotestagram #writersofinstagram #wordporn #instagrampoetry #mindfulness #mindfulnessquotes
A post shared by Healing Deep Sleep (@healingdeepsleep) on Jan 27, 2020 at 8:47pm PST
And so we did. But, we noticed there was something odd after the first few days of posting. You see, when we first used the hashtags on our posts we noticed people started to like the content. However, as we continued using the same hashtags every single day. Well, it’s fair to say that our interaction didn’t rise up. As a matter of fact, it decreased.
Getting Answers
So, that got us wondering. Are we doing something wrong? We entered Quora and asked about the problem. Turns out, using the same hashtags on all our posts was actually hurting our strategy to grow. Let me explain, when you see a hashtag with a lot of followers, you automatically think that if you choose it, a lot of people will see your content.
Unfortunately, that is not necessarily true. The fact of the matter is that while more people follow a specific hashtag, the more difficult it is for your content to get found if you use such a hashtag. We had to learn that by experiencing it ourselves.
Risk Of Getting Banned
Moreover, we then realized that using the same hashtags for every single one of your posts can get you banned. In fact, we discovered that Instagram might actually ban you for “spamming people”. Not that we were doing that. But, using the same hashtags on three daily posts could indeed be seen as spam by our all-mighty Instagram.
Fortunately, we learned this on time. So, we were able to mix things up and started to use different hashtags for our daily posts. Long story short, you shouldn’t use the same hashtags in all your posts. Not just because it can get you banned. But, also because it actually hurts your strategy.
Tip
A word of advice to you all. When using hashtags on Instagram. Don’t always choose those that are the most popular. For instance, if you see a particular hashtag with millions of followers, leave that for the end.
Instead, choose hashtags that are not followed my too many people. We are aware of how crazy this sounds. But, the truth if you use a certain hashtag that is not followed by a lot of people, the more you are to get discovered.

The Good News Instagram Movement
One of the reasons why many people no longer watch the news anymore is because of the atrocities the anchors report every day. In fact, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that almost everything you see on the media is completely negative. Indeed, there is not a single day where we can turn on the tv and learn about something positive.
The fact of the matter is that a lot of people these days choose social media over traditional tv to keep themselves informed. To put it briefly, social media platforms feed you information based on your interests. So, if you want to skip all the bad news that overwhelms the world on a daily basis, you can choose to do so.
When it comes to tv, you just get whatever the anchors are told to present. A sad reality we live in. Now, what would you think if we were to tell you that there’s a place on Instagram where you can get nothing but good news? Too good to be true? Well, it is true. And today we’re telling you all about it.
The Good News Instagram Movement
So, when it comes to social media, there is content for every single taste. So much so, that there is an actual array of original posts and accounts for us to enjoy. For example, did you know there are people on Instagram who upload pics of nothing but pumpkins?
We are aware of how weird this sounds. But, hey, we are sure someone likes that stuff. Actually, we are very sure that a lot of people like that stuff. Otherwise, such accounts wouldn’t have as many followers as they do.
This goes to show that a little creativity can take you to create something that lots of people find interesting. Personally, I found an Instagram page called “Goodnews_movement” and I simply loved it. Honestly, there is no much to tell.
The site in question does nothing but to upload daily good news. Something totally different from what traditional media does. Incredibly, the positive news the Instagram page hosts every single has made the owner gain over 488k followers.

The Person Behind The Page
The more the page began to grow, the more people wanted to know who was behind the account. Fortunately, the good news movement founder was kind enough to leave her Instagram handle on the bio of the page for us all to see. So, who was the mastermind behind this original idea? Well, she’s a Colombian journalist named Michelle Figueroa.
We don’t really know much about her as a person. Other than the fact that she is all about uploading heartwarming content and staying away from politics. Ms. Figueroa has been featured in major media outlets. Both digital and traditional. As a matter of fact, she’s had a space on People’s magazine, MailOnline, and UsWeekly.
Fun Note
The Good News Movement popularity has led Michelle Figueroa to gain a couple of very unexpected followers. Incredibly, both Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle found the site and simply loved it. Again, major media outlets decided to write about this and asked Figueroa what her thoughts were regarding the topic.
In a nutshell, she claimed to feel humbled and excited.

How Do I Know Who Unfollowed Me On Instagram?
You may think that it is impossible to find out who has recently unfollowed you on Instagram. One of the most hurtful things someone can do. It sort of makes you wonder if you are doing something that’s boring your followers. A good reason indeed. However, in some cases, people just stop following certain accounts because of their controlling romantic partners. So, there is no reason to panic.
Now, whatever the case is. Just chill. Because we are here to provide you with priceless information that will allow you to know who stopped following you. That way, you don’t depend on remembering how many followers you have every day and even then not know who left the list.
First off, if you are wondering about a specific person. You can obviously head to their account and enter their “following” list. If you type your username and you do not come up… I am very sorry. But, they do not follow you anymore.
Checking who left the list
If you want to find out whether or not more than one person stopped following you. Then, there are other options you can take. Unfortunately, Instagram has recently started to limit apps from analyzing followers’ data. But, there are still a few good third-party apps that can track your followers regardless of the photo-sharing app limitations.
If you’re thinking “who unfollowed me on Instagram” but don’t have the time to invest tracking every single person, this is the most time-consuming way. A good one to download is Followers Tracker Pro. You can check not only how many followers you have earned, but also how many users you don’t follow back, and how many people don’t follow you back. And most importantly, you can check who they are.
Blocked?
Moreover, you can even check you blocked you and who you have blocked in the past. Something we do not tend to remember. If you wish, you can also unfollow those who unfollowed you straight from the app. Followers tracker pro shows you each user with their picture and all the information you require to make your choice.
So remember, if you want to keep your pride and stop liking non-stop someone’s pictures without knowing if they unfollowed you, this is the app for you.
Note
If you notice there is a sudden decrease in your number of followers. Start planning a strategy to gain back what you have lost. Perhaps, clicking this could help you get some ideas on how to increase your followers and generate more engagement. You’re welcome.

How to Sort The Accounts You Follow On Instagram
According to Instagram, we will now be allowed to have more control over what we see and how we interact with the accounts we follow on the app. Sometimes having many followers or following any accounts can distract us from the content we really want to see on social media.
Indeed. following a lot of people makes it hard for us to find an account or a post we want to see. And so Instagram came up with a solution to help us solve this problem. Basically, we are now able to sort the people we follow. But, not only that. As a matter of fact, there are some extra options we can use to sort the content that appears on our feed. And today we are going to list them all.
Option to change the followers’ default order
The first change worthy of a mention is how we see our own followers and the people we follow. Nowadays, when we click on“following”/”followers” the order in which they appear is the default order. However, you can change that now. If you go to your tab, you now have the option to choose to see them in the order you started following them, earliest to latest or the other way around.
Muting Accounts
You will also be able to manage accounts you follow by deciding if you want to continue seeing content from a specific account. Change it by clicking on the three dots next to the user in the list. Even in this option, you can mute the account as a whole, or decide if you would like to see particular posts and stories.
Messages
Another recent change on the application allows you to put messages in various different categories. Sort their inbox messages into “private” or “general”, making it easier for you to see separately who you regularly message and who you don’t.
New Shortcuts
In addition, the new updates allow you to have quick access and easy shortcuts to see accounts you follow and interact with more often. You can then organize them into two categories. How does this work? Go to your Instagram profile and click the ‘Following’ tab to see which accounts you’re interacting with.
You’ll see a “Categories” heading with two sub-options. “Most Shown in Feed” and “Least Interacted With”. When you click either tab, you’ll get a chance to see the accounts you regularly interact with, versus those you don’t.
You can then manage your notifications by clicking the three dots on the side of each user account. Once you click the three dots, you also have the option to mute the user. You can sort everyone in the list of your choice and see their updates as often as you want!

How to Check your Instagram DMS on Your Computer
There is no doubt in our minds that Instagram is simply awesome. In fact, we dare to state that if not because of Facebook, Instagram would be the best social media platform in the world. However, as awesome as the photo-sharing site is, there are still a few things that could be improved.
The lack of its core functions on the web version is a pretty good example. As a matter of fact, you may have noticed that if you use Instagram on anything other than your smartphone, the tools and features the app offers may not be available for you to use.
For instance, the direct messaging feature isn’t supported on the website version of the social media app. To some people that lack of this feature on the web is not that big of a deal. However, some people use their computers way more than their phones and would like to have access to DMS on their desktops too.
So, while this is impossible to do from Instagram itself, there are a few solutions that can help you solve this problem. Get ready to learn how to check your DMS on your desktop.
Android Emulator
The first thing you can do is to download an “Android Emulator.” In short, an Android emulator is a tool that allows you to use any app designed exclusively for mobile phones. But, on your computer. We are not certain as to how many emulators are there on the web.
But, you can try downloading one called BlueStacks. What Bluestacks does is it allows you to install the Android operating system on your computer. Then, you can install the Instagram app within this environment.
In general terms, what you need to do to get started is to simply download and install your emulator of choice. Once you open it up, whichever one you have chosen, you’ll be asked to sign in to your Google account and likely verify your identity with a phone number.
Once you’ve been signed in, you will see the Google Play Store on the home screen. Click it and then search for Instagram, just like you would on your phone. Finally, click Install. You will now see the Instagram app on the home screen.
Click it, enter your login information, and you can then use it exactly as you would on your phone. It’s exactly the same app but emulated on your computer.
Mirror Utility
However, if you don’t want a full-blown android emulator, you can simply mirror your device’s screen to your computer using Windows 10’s built-in Mirror utility. To begin, do a system search on Windows 10 for connecting and open the app.
On your Android phone, go to “Settings > Display > Cast.” The setting may be elsewhere depending on your device manufacturer. Samsung calls it Smart View, for example, and it can be found by searching “Settings”. Then, tap your PC name from the list of available devices.
Finally, switch back to the Connect app. You should find your phone screen displaying and it will mirror from that to your monitor. It should be noted that this isn’t an ideal solution, because while it displays on your monitor, you’ll still need to use your phone to control Instagram, but it is still a good and viable solution.
So now you have not one but two ways of accessing your Instagram messages properly. Awesome, or what?
Note
There is yet another way to check and reply to your Instagram DMS using your desktop. However, we didn’t mention it here because we plan to do an article covering such a method in full detail. But, in case you want to know more. Here’s a hint. It has to do with Facebook. So, keep on checking our site to get more amazing content like this. Hope this helped you all.

Does Tik Tok Pose A Threat To Instagram?
It is well known that TikTok represents a new form of social entertainment that’s extremely different from the one on Instagram, where you can just take a selfie, show something pretty or pan around what you’re up to.
Instagram’s users are concerned with portraying their lives in a fun and enticing way. But, the content is still autobiographic and spontaneous. On the other hand, TikToks are premeditated, storyboarded, mostly scripted and vastly different than the haphazard Stories on Instagram.
However, in one way or another, these two social media platforms have more than one thing in common. But, the main one is that they both are very popular. As a matter of fact, Instagram has over one billion monthly active users.
And Tiktok… Well, the name itself is starting to mean something to all of us social media users. Actually, the rise of influencers using Tiktok nowadays made us wonder. Could Tiktok pose a threat to Instagram? Let’s talk about that.
Tiktok vs Instagram – Statistics and Rivalry
TikTok’s success casts a dark shadow over the future of the Facebook family of apps, that include Instagram and Lasso. An app suspiciously similar to TikTok. The problem is Lasso has been installed just 425,000 times since it launched in November, while TikTok has 640 million installs in the same period outside of China.
But, there’s more. TikTok has actually been installed 1.4 billion times beyond China to date. Impressive, don’t you think? It’s Mark Zuckerberg’s pigeonholing of TikTok that is most alarming.
It foreshadows Facebook failing to win one of the core social feeds that its business depends on. Perhaps his perspective on the competitor is evolving, but the leak portrays him as thinking TikTok is just the next Snapchat Stories to destroy.
Mark Zuckerberg’s opinion
Facebook’s main creator has voiced his opinion on the current rivalry between the apps and how TikTok threatens to take over a big part of Instagram’s audience and users: “I kind of think about TikTok as if it were explored for stories, and that was the whole app.
And then you had creators who were specifically working on making that stuff. So we have a number of approaches that we’re going to take towards this, and we have a product called Lasso that’s a standalone app that we’re working on, trying to get product-market fit in countries like Mexico, is I think one of the first initial ones. We’re trying to first see if we can get it to work in countries where TikTok is not already big before we go and compete with TikTok in countries where they are big”.
In Zuckerberg’s credit, he does not dismiss the threat. He knows TikTok is popular, and he knows its userbase is growing exponentially every month. He also knows it’s growing in key international markets Facebook and Instagram depend on to keep user counts rising. And he knows his company needs to respond via its standalone clone Lasso and more.
Conclusion
To sum it up, TikTok isn’t about you or what you’re doing. It’s more about entertaining your audience. You see, unlike Instagram, Tiktok is not an app where you show those who follow you a spontaneous chronicling of your real life.
Instead, you invent characters, dress up as someone else and act out jokes. In short, what we are trying to say is that while Tiktok is different from Instagram in terms of content. Both apps share a huge base of users that open the apps on their phones every single day. Ergo, competition.
We will have to wait and see how this rivalry continues, and try to enjoy the updates on both apps that are consequences of both apps fighting to prove which one is better.

IGTV could soon monetize their videos
Good news for content creators on IGTV! Instagram may finally let IGTV video makers earn money 18 months after launching the longer-form content hub. According to the Instagram team, they have internally prototyped an Instagram Partner Program that would let creators earn money by showing advertisements along with their videos.
By giving creators a sustainable and hands-off way to generate earnings from IGTV. They might be inspired to bring more high-quality content to the destination.
How it has been up to now
Up until now, Instagram only worked with a limited set of celebrities and large influencers who basically took control over the standalone video platform. Indeed, IGTV was created in order to help people increase their engagement and gain more followers. But not to offer a way in which creators could earn a profit.
That left less famous and independent creators forced to look to sponsored content or product placement to generate cash or to try to push their followers to platforms like YouTube where they could earn a reliable cut of the ad revenue program.
A lack of monetization may have been one of the reasons for the absence of great and well-known content on IGTV. Many of the videos on the popular page are low-grade rips of TikTok, YouTube content or TV.
There are also some clickbait teasers not worth the watch. In short, the bad content uploaded to IGTV has led to mediocre view counts. As a matter of fact, only 7million of Instagram’s billion-plus users downloaded the standalone IGTV app.
How would monetization work?
Users who are deemed “Eligible” according to Instagram’s criteria could choose to “Monetize Your IGTV Videos.” However, there is no information about these criteria and who could be the users that would get chosen and have the benefit of earning some kind of profit from their content on Instagram.
What we do know is that it will be possible to “earn money by running short ads on your IGTV videos. Much like Youtube, IGTV will work by placing ads on the videos. And sharing a cut of the profit with the creators.
Currently, there are two social media platforms that allow people to monetize their videos. Facebook, and Youtube. Actually, Facebook is attempting to compete with the largest video hosting platform in the world. So, adding IGTV to the list could make the competition more interesting.
Finally, when you monetize on IGTV, you agree to follow the Partner Program Monetization Policies.”
Conditions
We sure can assume that the conditions for this will probably be similar to the ones on Facebook. Follow all its normal community Standards about decency; share authentic content without misinformation, false news, clickbait, or sensationalism; share original content they made themselves; and avoid restricted content categories including debated social issues, tragedy or conflict.
Of course, you can add objectionable activity, sexual or suggestive activity, strong language, explicit content, misleading medical information, and politics and government.
Wrapping Up
In conclusion, creator monetization has been a slow-going evolution on many of the major social networks. While YouTube was early to space with ads. Twitter, Facebook, and Snapchat are now testing an array of ways for influencers to earn money.
Those include ad splits, subscriptions to exclusive content, tipping, connections to brands for sponsorship, merchandise sales and more. It is yet to be seen how it will be applied on IGTV-Instagram.

The New LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Tinder meme
“Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene – I’m begging of you please don’t take my man” There was a time when I used to sing this song for no reason in particular. Maybe it was just a matter of how catchy the rhythm was that caught my attention. Well, little did I know that the artist who composed this song was also the person who created the popular Linkedin, Facebook, Instagram Tinder meme.
Indeed, a new trend that has caused people to start talking about Dolly Parton yet again in 2020. So, what does this artist have to do with the new social media trend everyone is talking about? In a nutshell, she’s the one who created it. But, let’s dive deeper into that.
The Meme
So, in order to understand how the meme started, we first need to talk a little bit about Dolly Parton. An American singer popular for her work in country music. In a nutshell, Parton made her album debut back in 1964 and a few years later. Well, it’s fair to say that she won the hearts of lots of people.
As a matter of fact, she continues to do so to this day. Actually, I got to learn about the artist last year when I came across the song I was simulating to sing on the intro of this article – “Jolene.” Long story short, I was delighted.
But, what’s important here is the fact that Parton actually had the world talking about her once again. This time not because of her music, but because of a trend that she started. More specifically, an Instagram trend.
You see, on January 21st, 74-year-old country music artist uploaded an Instagram post where we could see four different sides of her on 4 different social media platforms. Linkedin, Facebook, Instagram Tinder meme.

Get you a woman who can do it all 😉
A post shared by Dolly Parton (@dollyparton) on Jan 21, 2020 at 10:02am PST
The caption to the post read: Get you a woman who can do it all 😉 And well, people went crazy. In fact, the post reached over a million likes in a matter of days. Currently, the post has 1.236.967 likes and growing. So, you can now imagine that getting that much attention got people from all over the world to recreate the trend.
In a few words, people would have to upload a post to Instagram where they could depict how they would look on each social media platform. It was fun to see. But, became even funnier when celebrities joined the game. Some of them even made a meme out of the meme.
Note
A lot of people mastering Instagram know how to create a 4 sided picture. However, we understand there are some of you who might not know exactly how to do that.
So, for those of you, let us make your life simpler. All you need to do is to click here. And then create your own Dolly Parton based meme using the template on the site. Enjoy!

Instagram Reels – What You Need To Know
Nowadays, the main rivalry in modern social media networks is clearly the one between Instagram and TikTok. They are two of the most used among young people, and they are constantly trying to improve their filters, their effects and mostly their functions. It’s Instagram’s turn now to fight back. As they are now launching a video-music remix feature. Fun!
Instagram Reels Feature
So, the first thing we need to do is to uncover what this new Instagram feature is all about. To put it simply, Reels lets you make 15-second video clips where you can add music, effects, etc. And it goes without saying that you can share the final product on Stories.
Of course, this sets you on the road to go viral on a new Top Reels section of Explore. Much like TikTok, Instagram users can soundtrack their Reels with a huge catalog of music. But, it’s not just limited to that. As a matter of fact, users can also borrow the audio from anyone else’s video to create a remix of their meme or joke.
Here’s the thing though. Reels were originally launched on Instagram last November. But the feature has been limited to just Brazil, where its name is Cenas. Everyone else is still waiting for its reach to expand to other areas of the world. At least as a test to see how it actually works.
Reels leverages all of Instagram’s most popular features to Frankenstein-together a remarkably coherent competitor to TikTok’s rich features and community of 1.5 billion monthly users. Including 122 million in the U.S. Instead of trying to start from scratch like Facebook’s Lasso, Instagram could cross-promote Reels heavily to its own billion users.
Trial start
The choice of starting its trial in Brazil before potentially rolling out elsewhere could help Instagram nail down its customization and selling strategy. Luckily, Brazil has a big Instagram population, a deeply musical culture, and a thriving creator community.
So, it is a very accurate population in which to test it. Also, it is not a population that is already knee-deep in their use of TikTok as other countries.
In a nutshell, the reason why Instagram reels is only available in Brazil at the moment is simple. Brazilians do not use TikTok as much as other countries in South America.
In Conclusion
Wrapping up, when this new feature finally gets released worldwide. We will be able to find it in the Instagram Stories shutter modes tray next to boomerang and Super-Zoom.
They can either record with silence, borrow the audio of another video they find through hashtag search or Explore, or we will even be able to search a popular or trending song.
So, tell us, what do you think about this feature? Do you think it can compete against Tiktok?
