Sometimes I feel like for characterization the right way to go is to keep things from the audience. Like for Papyrus. There's a lot of stuff we don't see about Paps, and I feel like that's integral to his character (and Sans's) and if you remove that absence it ends up not feeling right. Does that make sense? Even if you extrapolate and you're correct about him, to make it feel like it does in undertale you have to keep the audience wondering.

Is Papyrus naive and ignorant or is he very aware? Whether you think one is right or wrong, in undertale the charm is that you can never tell. To make it feel like Papyrus you can't show evidence of either.

I feel like in trying to figure out Papyrus's inner psychology and apply it we forget that it's actually something that's meant to be hidden from the viewers.

many things about the chronicles of Narnia made me irrevocably insane at the small age of six years old but one of the big ones was the bit in prince Caspian where caspian blows susan's horn to try and summon help and it summons the pevensie kids like. that's crazy ok. that's insane. imagine at 12 years old you're given a horn thats purpose is basically summoning divine intervention & then years later someone blows it and summons YOU . I'm crazy !

I understand that she's Padme and so of course she'd have been bringing it in the wardrobe department regardless (because the girl is a Fashion Icon who wears prom hair and tiara to bed while pregnant with twins), and of course no one has to dress "for" someone else, but Attack of the Clones is so so so so SO funny to me because GIRL YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TRY THIS HARD. You do not need to change outfits every 2 hours. You did not need to showcase every backless or leather or sequined ensemble you HAD in the Padme Amidala Forbidden Seduction Collection. You can leave the complicated shoes and hairstyles out of the mix and just chill in some Lululemons or whatever for a change. Anakin is the absolute easiest sell EVER HERE. The boy is about to literally DIE of horniness and longing. He can barely string a coherent sentence together and he has -500% of an idea of what is going on, with anything. Also he himself only owns like, one outfit and a poncho.

It fucks with me that dog intelligence is tested with obedience tests, so there's a significant bias towards compliant dog breeds. Dogs that are intelligent enough to understand what is being asked of them, but are too headstrong and/or independent to go through with it, get lumped up with the dogs that might want to do what people ask them to do, but are too stupid to understand the assignment.

And it fucks with me that chihuahuas are actually quite intelligent. They're not stressed and angry because they're too stupid to understand what's going on. They understand exactly what's going on, and that's why they're so angry and stressed.
