I did a little sketch about the district I live in. I live in Hong Kong and here is Kwun Tong. I picked Kwun Tong Street because this street connects the industrial area and the central area of the district where shopping malls and bus stations are built.
The watercolour illustration turned out better than I expected. This is my first time to do watercolour scenery painting, and I was scared things can go really wrong. Anyone who has experience with watercolour knows that it is unpredictable. So, I prepped myself by googling some related youtube videos first, and then I used perspective guides to help me determine where my lines should go. After carefully drawing the pencil sketches, I watered down the background colours and applied them layer by layer. It indeed made me proud.
The tools I used:
mijello watercolour set
a purple copic multi liner
pencil
 erasers
pentel water-refillable brushes

I am trying to do a blog like this. I will keep this post here for reference.

A new watercolor set, replacing my three old ones.
It seemed that I had about three watercolor sets except for my main one and all of them were my “secondary”. I used the chance that occurred when one of them came back from being displayed at an exhibition all bent and damaged to do a small watercolor sets remodeling.
Continuing with the minimalist theme I’m interested in recently, I wanted to keep the number of watercolor sets I have to a minimum, so I actually use them. My main 60 colors wooden box is meant to be used in the studio only, so I set up this smaller one that can be used both at my desk and (if necessary) to do some sketching outside.
This surprisingly sturdy and compact box is a 16 color Holbein palette. It can be expanded, however, to hold 24 or even 25 half-pans when you use the middle row too. It’s a perfect match for my Mijello Mission Gold Pure Pigment set that consists of 25 colors if you ignore the white.
I wanted a box like this for some time now, but it’s usually a bit expensive - it’s sold only with Holbein watercolors already in it. A few days ago, however, I found one new and in-box, being sold on the Japanese second-hand goods website Mercari! I put away the Holbein half-pans to be used someday and filled it with the Mijello paints. Thus I replaced all three “secondary” sets with a very universal, single one.

The Mission Gold paints are all single pigments and provide excellent saturation, which is useful when painting simple sketches. Because of this, I have been using these paints more and more recently as I’m aiming for a more loose style. I quite enjoy painting with them, and I did not have any problems - except them being runnier than Schmincke or Holbein, so you have to be careful about how you store your palettes.

My original sketches for PB and Marceline’s costumes in the upcoming Adventure Time 44 minute finale, “Come Along With Me” (airing on September 3rd!) The Marceline one had to change because she obviously can’t have short sleeves or go barefoot… but luckily I never have to remember that ever again.

This is old, but I had originally posted it on a blog I don’t use so I figured I’d post it again.

The real essence of good is found only within things under your own control. If you keep this in mind, you won’t find yourself feeling jealous or lonely, pitifully comparing yourself and your accomplishments to others. Stop aspiring to be anyone other than your own best self, for that does fall within your control.

Quote
Our goal should be to live life in radical amazement. ….get up in the morning and look at the world in a way that takes nothing for granted. Everything is phenomenal; everything is incredible; never treat life casually. To be spiritual is to be amazed.

The Birth of Desires
We tend to look at desires at what is being desired: I desire wealth; I desire success; I desire prestige; and so on.  We then see desires as having many facets: you stop one and another comes up.  But, there is just one desire.
The one desire is that we want more than what we presently have or what we have will not be taken away (fear).  We always want more.  From birth, our body needs nourishment, warmth, safety, and stimuli.  Take any of these factors away, and one can no longer become a healthy and balanced human.
Emotionally, we adapted the biological needs of wanting.  The body wants only what it needs.  The emotions want more.  More is never satisfied.  More can never be satisfied.  More continues.  More grows.  More dominates.  More becomes the daily solution which leads eventually to self-destruction in one form or another.  More never ceases on its own.
