scurvy has got to have one of the biggest disease/treatment coolness gaps of all time. like yeah too much time at sea will afflict you with a curse where your body starts unraveling and old wounds come back to haunt you like vengeful ghosts. unless☝️you eat a lemon

Someone once said to me, “I hope the pain eases soon.” It struck me as the purest blessing that had ever been offered over my head - I hope the pain eases soon. It’s so gentle, so kind, so hopeful. So to everyone who’s hurting: I see how hard you’re trying, and I hope your pain will ease soon.

Sending love to autistics & others who can't engage in politics
This includes those who:
Are too cognitively disabled to understand politics
Find that politics triggers serious mental health issues that interfere with daily life
Have had their carers/therapists/support workers tell them that politics is bad for them and they need to not read about it
Political participation is hard and not everyone can handle it.
Some people feel guilt or shame about not being able to help more. Cognitive and/or mental health limitations don't make you less of a person. And if you care about helping others, it's okay to find ways to do that that don't cause you great distress.
I have had both a caregiver (my dad) and my therapist strongly advise me not to read about politics because I get way too upset. Listening to their advice is not a sin. I can make a difference in my own way.
Being too disabled to handle politics doesn't make you bad. It's not a privilege. It's okay to focus on things that don't hurt you.
You can help people in your own way, whether it's reaching out to people online, making inspiring or comforting art, or just being kind to the people around you. That's important too. And if it's all you can give, that's enough.

i saw a video the other day detailing why we see so much about gaza🇵🇸 but not sudan🇸🇩
it comes down to these 3 key differences
while gaza is much bloodier, gaza has journalists reporting daily. as a journalist you will be targeted viciously but it's a delayed risk because the enemy isn't on ground. your enemies are cowards who plot and kill you from afar.
in sudan it's impossible to report anything because the enemy is walking down your street (if not in your house) like rabid dogs. you will be shot on sight. it's an immediate risk. there is no time to capture or comment on anything. whatever information you put out will be your first and last.
in sudan, the updates come from the warring factions filming themselves, not from civilians. and you can imagine the bias and inaccuracy of their egotistical daily vlogs and official statements.
which is why it's more imperative than ever to follow Sudanese creators and journalists who do report on the little information that does come out.
here's a post on where to get daily updates about Sudan
disclaimer: palestinian press also deal with immediate risks when confronted with IDF on-ground.

Calling all Brits on this hellsite.
We all saw Elon Musk do the nazi salute at the Trump inauguration. We know that he is influencing and fanning the flames of right wing political parties.
And that very well may include ours.
Because Elon Musk has pledged to donate $100 million to the Reform party. He has since mentioned that it might be hard to give such a large sum now.
But I don’t think we should take our chances. And I think we can agree that letting billionaires influence our countries politics is a terrible idea.
If you also agree here’s a link to a Parliament petition.
It calls for the government to remove loopholes that allow wealthy foreign individuals to make donations into UK political parties (e.g. by funnelling through UK registered companies).
As it is a parliament petition the government are required to debate it in parliament. But for that to happen it needs to reach 100,000 signatures.
Non British folk I’m afraid you guys can’t sign but I encourage you guys to reblog so that more people can see this.

Shout out to everyone who feels alone and isolated in the face of what's happening with the new trump administration. You are not unwanted. You are not as alone as you feel. There is still a community standing with you and having your back, even if you cannot always feel them there. You are loved.

dear usamerican high schoolers looking for a way to resist fascism: sit through the pledge of allegiance.
no getting up. no looking at the flag.
everyone will be looking at you. you'll be sweating like a fucking hippopotamus. your teacher will sternly tell you to get up. you'll feel stupid and that maybe its not worth it because you're just a kid in a classroom. but I'm here to remind you that there are no real life consequences to detention. there are however real life consequences to resisting a thoughtless performance of nationalism.

slow down for your disabled friends. thats like a bare minimum kindness that we shouldnt have to ask for. i love that youre so quirky and walking fast is a cool personality trait to you and all that but i bet you can count your physically disabled friends on less than one hand
