More Character Design Sketches
Sketched the designs for a couple of the party members in the D&D campaign being run by a friend. Did the fied gear and battle armor designs for my character, Inquisitor Markus Gault, and our party’s zealot barbarian Father Alexander Callaghan.
I ended up happy with Markus’ armor design, carried through elements from his clothing in a suitable manner, and gave him the imposing look I was hoping for, especially with the fluting in the armor giving an elegant sharpness. I also felt Zephyr, a lightning casting sword, and Alexander’s headsman’s axe came out nicely as well. I’ll be happy when I finally get the whole party’s aesthetic nailed down so I can start doing some real art for em.

Found these oldies hiding away in an old folder. A couple of fun little attempts at cyberpunk, should definitely finish these on Photoshop and mess with cyberpunk some more.

A little bit of one of my hobbies. I’m a massive Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40k/30k fan, and my hands down favorite army I have ever put together and painted is my Legio Custodes force. (Second fave is my 40k era Dark Angels, though I still have a lot to paint from them). Also I figured I’d throw in my work in progress Sagittarum Guard and my newly bought and assembled Aquilon Terminators I bought at GenCon, god those’ll be fun to paint.

Sketches for profile pictures of player characters and the DM portrait in a friend of mine’s campaign, including my own PC. The overall feel of the campaign is something of a grim dark world, and our characters are fairly far from paragon characters.
Characters in order from top to bottom:
Inquisitor Markus Gault- The sort of leader of the group, at least he is the one who assembled the who party as something of a retinue to help accomplish his mission. Member of the Templar Order of the God-Empress, or the Inquisitional Order, a sort of religious police, charged with answering only to the Empress and carrying out her orders. At the beginning of the campaign, was a very dour and grim individual, and a firm believer of the ends justify the means. Now he’s grown attached to his charges and citizens of the province he is now essentially in charge of, as well as something of a conflicted young man. Bears the well known black garb, wide brimmed stove-pipe hat and rosary that displays his badge of office, all of which are meant to give onlookers an instant understanding of who he is and the respect owed to him. (This guy is my character ^_^).
Apex- A secretive and someone reclusive individual sent to aid the inquisitors. An excellent marksman as well as a graceful swordsman. As much as he is reserved in his interactions with the party, he is very brash and overconfident in battle. The bandages around his ears are there to hide the fact that he is half-elf.
The Sage- The representation of the Dungeon Master. Went for a wild, ragged and blind sage. Yet hiding what would appear to be wild delusion, is an omniscient sage. Kinda playing on the idea that the campaign is really a retelling of a famed saga by a near godly wise shaman or elder.
Alexander Calhagan- A member of the state religion of the First Empire, the Imperial Dogma, as well as cleric, and executioner. The epitome of Imperial brute savagery in battle and uncanny discipline in everything else. Earned the glory of beheading a king from an enemy army. Is a loyal companion to Markus as well as a devote follower of the Imperial Dogma. Known for being incredibly tall, strong, and unflinching in his actions. Had fun drawing some of the very strong features on this character, and had a few discussions with the player who plays Alexander about his clothing and ran a few different ideas by him on facial scars.
Kalros- In a world hateful of all things supernatural and unholy, especially so in the First Empire, Kalros would have ended up like many Tieflings, probably horrifyingly executed. Markus ended up recruiting Kalros on, seeing a redeemable individual, as well as a powerful tool in the form of Kalros’ powerful pyromantic abilities. Though initially there was a lot of friction between Kalros and Markus, the two ended up earning a deep respect for one another, and though they may butt heads on theological reasons, the two are still steadfastly loyal to one another, and work together unflinchingly for the common good. Had fun drawing this character, with a lot of back and forth between me and his player in terms of look and style. Ultimately, the player ended up happy with the design.
Eddy T- Pirate, bruiser, psychopath, thief, criminal, murder, you name it, Eddy can nod his head to all of it. A dwarf not born from the great mountain holds, but instead on the high seas to a high profile pirate lord. Eventually he ended up taking on the family business and has been doing so for many decades. He eventually became a member of a Thieves Guild in Abythos as the muscle of the organization. He joined the Inquisitors due to a strange set of circumstances, including a partnership between the party and the Thieves Guild leaders. Initially began as a chaotic element to the party, disrespectful of his fellow party members, and was simply tagging along in join in on any bloodshed that would eventually come to the Inquisitors. Has since developed a strange, family like bond with his fellow party members, and though he’s not necessarily willing to sacrifice himself for the causes his party likes to follow, he is willing to sacrifice himself for them. I loved drawing the face and beard on this character, especially when attempting to give Eddy T the look of a psychopath straining on a mental leash, and according to the player I managed to accomplish that. (Fun fact, he doesn’t have a missing eye, he wears the eye patch so he can have an eye adjusted to the dark)Â
I plan on doing a lot of art for this campaign, and of these character’s exploits, so far I’m having fun depicting this world and it’s inhabitant for the DM and players to see. Also these characters summaries aren’t nearly accurate in terms of the shenanigans our characters have gotten up to in the campaign, as these only scratched the surface in order to give an understanding of the design choices.

Just finished this, couldn’t sleep tonight before posting this. Another practice of character posing and depicting functional medieval armor.Â
Depicts some knights from the Order of the Bloody Banner, a monarchical order founded in memory of a small group of knights who managed to hold the castle of the city that would become known as Ritterburg against the invasion of a horde of Northmen. They held for so long and slew so many foes that their banners were stained an almost solid crimson. This specifically depicts the current Grand Marshal of the order conversing with one of his knights, perhaps over a battle plan, while being waited on by his, perhaps impatient or naive squire, who bears a shield with the Marshal’s personal coat of arms.Â
I’ll probably give this sketch a good inking, then finish it up in photoshop.

Back to Work
So I haven’t tumblr’d in a real long time. Mostly as a result of being bogged down by life and whatnot, and as a result not really posting any of my work. I also was in the mentality of basically not wanting to post my pencilwork and sketches because I believed they weren’t really worthy of being a display of my talent, especially considering I’ve learned a lot since the last time I posted, and I’ve been experimenting with a lot of things including different ways of doing digital stuff. So i figured this be as good a time as ever to finally kick myself in the ass and start posting my work again, be it digital or sketch form. Here’s some work I’ve been doing.
The top two are supposed to be depictions of living god in my friend’s D&D universe, a God-Empress known as Rowyna, who leads a nation called the First Empire in a post apocalyptic fantasy setting, regarded as the living form of the goddess of war, justice, death, iron and fire.
The rest are various sketches from my fictional low fantasy world of Meldorath, so far being warriors from the Duchy of Stahl, and a mural-like sketch of the Saint of Hope, Vlade, a PC from my own D&D campaign who became a legendary figure in Stahl.

Under what I’d say were rather odd circumstances, the party in my D&D campaign just so happen to have lost three members in a matter of two sessions. One dying from a rather..... Graphic..... Accident.... another went psycho and tried assassinating one of the other party members, and the final one went on a Spirit Journey due to killing a party member and nearly being assassinated by another, so yeah, they have been replaced by three new characters.
Erwin von Richthofen- Human Knight
Hidalgo- Human Bard
Adris- Dark Elf Warlock
These guys never fail to keep me busy

A map of the fictional Duchy of Stahl, and a bit of its neighboring nations, the Kingdom of Anzelt and the Holy See of Lichtenburg, the Duchy of Stahl is ruled by the two hundred year old Mezig Dynasty and and is spilt into four provinces composing of the Baronies of Wachland and Berlig, the Principality of Siegmark and the Grand County of Gryyer Stahl, with the seat of the duke being at the city of Herzkrone. As of currently in the D&D campaign, a lot of what’s been happening is in Berlig, and as of recently its capital city of Waldstadt, which is nestled within the huge and untamed forest of the Grosserwald. Been having a lot of fun making art for this campaign.

The Reliquary of Saint Eldenburt, Voice of the Maker, Savior of the Felker People
In the D&D campaign I’m running, the locals of the nation they’re in, the Duchy of Stahl, follow a monotheistic religion known as the Norden Orthodoxy. The Orthodoxy is based within an autonomous city state known as Lichtenburg, and within the gigantic Lichtenburg Cathedral is a reliquary made of the bones of the Orthodoxy’s messiah figure, a man they’ve come to call Saint Eldenburt, who raised the Felker people from their tribal and clan like origins, and led them on a grand crusade to expand their lands and push out their violent cultural cousins, the Skaelings. During a climatic battle known as the Battle of Twelve Banners, Eldenburt was slain by a powerful Skaeling Chieftan with his heart being pierced by a spear known as Eldensfluch, translating roughly to “Eldenburt’s Bane”, a item that is held in the cathedral and is treated much in the same way as the Lance of Longinus in the real world. After the battle, Eldenburt’s bones were set within a set of silver and gold armor with a sun halo behind his head, upon a marble throne with the skulls of Skaeling chieftains set within its arms, and underneath him is the inscription “Im Licht des Shöpfers” meaning “In the Maker’s Light”.
This campaign has spurred my creativity for these past couple of weeks to the point where I’ve spent many of my waking moments writing scenarios, lore and have been drawing various characters, and it’s given me an outlet to make something of a breathing world that hopefully I’ll have further stories and campaigns take place in, it also gives me stuff to pad my next to empty art tumblr with so, several pluses on that. Expect more related stuff in the future.
