Like every good author/artist, I have more than one story on deck. This one is about as fleshed out as The Anoir Chronicles, but aside from these character turnarounds (ya gremlin LOVES a good turnaround sheet) there isn’t much art for the story… yet. Depending how the comic making venture goes, this story may follow suit, or I might get bold and try my hand at a visual novel. I think this story would do well in that format.

Anywho details details. Bryna and Spencer are from my story “Fat Cats and Green Larks”, formally known as “Scarred”. It started out as a Beauty and the Beast AU but during the prohibition in Detroit.

Can you tell me more about your wip Anoir Chronicles?

Absolutely!

To keep this post readable and bite sized, I’ll start with the summary (cackles in hindsight):

Raven Foster is an ordinary girl… as ordinary as she can be with only seven years worth of memory, anyway. She’s about to graduate college in the same town where she showed up seven years prior, badly injured, terrified, and with no memory of her past. But she’d like to think she’s moved past it remarkably well! She has a loving foster family, an internship lined up, and a whole future of opportunity ahead of her.

That is, until Raven’s past crashes headlong into her plans. On this seventh anniversary of her current life, someone who claims to know her shows up at her school and is so excited to have found her, and tells her how her family has never stopped looking for her these past years. Sure there’s some red flags, namely that this Abel guy gives her until midnight to meet up with him if she wants to know about her family… and he looks like he came straight from a fantasy novel. But meeting Abel Mellaun sparks the first memory she’s had… ever. And despite what her gut and her foster mom and sister tell her, surely meeting this guy at midnight on the shore of Lake Superior to find out about where she came from can’t be too bad, right?

Cue the ritual that opens the border between worlds that pulls her into the Middle Realm, a bubble world between the realms of humans and magic. Raven is now stuck in the palace where her surviving siblings all rule as Lords (and Lady!) of the kingdom of Anoir, getting to know her 4 overbearing brothers, a younger sister who barely remembers her, a past beau who is anxious about trying to rekindle what they had, and the mystery of her disappearance that is also somehow tied to the failing border that keeps the Middle Realm intact. If Raven hopes to get back to the comfortable life she knows, she has to figure out who wanted her gone all those years ago. On the way, she’ll fall in love with the fantastic new world she finds herself in, the amazing people who live there, and the family she never knew she was missing.

Not exactly “back of the book blurb” ready, but there you go! That’s the basic idea of Book 1, and the second and third installments will (eventually) navigate the consequences of what she learns as she uncovers her past. This is a story I’ve been working on for nearly a decade at this point (eek!) and hopefully you’re as excited as I am to finally see it come to life!

Practice comic pages for the Anoir Chronicles! I’m working on turning this story into a full blown comic/graphic novel, and I was practicing pacing, panels, and art styles.

These are scattered, out-of-context scenes from across the story… mainly Book 1, and a cameo from Book 3 because FLUFF. Organized in chronological order (which unfortunately is NOT the order I drew them in real life lol)

I’m finalizing some elements still, but hoping to start producing this summer!

One of my favorite artist-sonas: the Opossum in a Pigeon onesie. How it started vs finished product.

What started out as a simple prompt to make a personal mascot for an animation competition (I was on team War Pigeons lol) has strangely become a meaningful representation of me. I often feel out of place, having to pretend to be something I’m not to fit in… whether as an AuDHD individual having to mask, or as an Enby who happens to still appear very femme despite my best efforts.

Not to mention as an artist I am personally always exhausted.
