Finally, someone can speak out loudly what I’m thinking right now. Thank you @thetayonion on instagram for sharing this post.

As a Swifty, I’m truly heartbroken and sad for Taylor because she is losing her right to own her 12-year hardworking master recordings, especially her work’s gonna profit the guy who tried bullying her on social media few years ago.

In terms of business, the deal between Scott and Scooter is not illegal as her 6 albums belong to Big Machine Records and they have the right to sell the master recordings to whoever they want. However, in terms of ethic, it is obviously an immoral, disgusting conduct which aims to prevent her from owning back her albums and take the take advantages from her works.

But try to make clear at these points:

Firstly, whether Scooter buys BMR or not, Taylor still earns her profit from the previous albums based on her deal with BMR. They still have to pay her the percentage as she partly hold the copyright of the songs/albums. The difference is now, Scooter will also earn some extra money for him from BMR as he is a stakeholder of the label. The reason why I mention this issue, is because I saw so many Swifties out there spreading the campaign “not to stream/download her music” online. Additionally, I found many Swifties shared and downloaded her music illegally. Guys, this is ridiculous and childish, I understand that you guys don’t want Scooter earns money from her work, but if you do that, Taylor will be negatively impacted as well. I do know that Taylor will be unhappy if she knows we do these kind of things. I love her music, I respect her and I want to spread her music widely so everyone can listen to her masterpieces. Don’t keep it to yourself! If you downloaded her albums, listen to them and keep streaming them online; if you haven’t downloaded yet, just do it! Also, don’t forget to keep streaming her new songs (ME! and You Need To Calm Down) and pre-order Lover.

Secondly, I saw so many Swifties on social media are attacking artists (Taylor’s friends) who didn’t do any actions to protect/support her. Guys, this is also another ridiculous thing. You have to understand that music industry is a sophisticated/complicated world, there are heaps of relationships existing within the industry that somehow affect the artists/celebrities’ behaviours and actions. If they don’t speak, it doesn’t mean they are careless. Also, there are millions ways to give her support, not only just show them on social media. Just remember when Taylor silently supports her friends/other celebs without showing off and gets criticism from the media, this is what you’re doing with Taytay’s friends! Please stop sharing the hate toward her friends, instead of doing that, show her more supports including sharing her new music, buying her new album and merchs, creating fan campaigns to make her feel happy, etc...

I know Taylor doesn’t give a shit about it, but definitely inside she’s really sad now. But I’m glad that everyone has been giving her so many supports and standing with her. I hope that you guys need to carefully research the outcomes before doing things, don’t do it without thinking and give some respects to the right people.

AGAIN PLEASE STILL KEEP STREAMING AND BUYING HER MUSIC!

For years I asked, pleaded for a chance to own my work. Instead I was given an opportunity to sign back up to Big Machine Records and ‘earn’ one album back at a time, one for every new one I turned in. I walked away because I knew once I signed that contract, Scott Borchetta would sell the label, thereby selling me and my future. I had to make the excruciating choice to leave behind my past. Music I wrote on my bedroom floor and videos I dreamed up and paid for from the money I earned playing in bars, then clubs, then arenas, then stadiums. 

Some fun facts about today’s news: I learned about Scooter Braun’s purchase of my masters as it was announced to the world. All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years. 

Like when Kim Kardashian orchestrated an illegally recorded snippet of a phone call to be leaked and then Scooter got his two clients together to bully me online about it. (See photo) Or when his client, Kanye West, organized a revenge porn music video which strips my body naked. Now Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy. Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it.

This is my worst case scenario. This is what happens when you sign a deal at fifteen to someone for whom the term ‘loyalty’ is clearly just a contractual concept. And when that man says ‘Music has value’, he means its value is beholden to men who had no part in creating it. 

When I left my masters in Scott’s hands, I made peace with the fact that eventually he would sell them. Never in my worst nightmares did I imagine the buyer would be Scooter. Any time Scott Borchetta has heard the words ‘Scooter Braun’ escape my lips, it was when I was either crying or trying not to. He knew what he was doing; they both did. Controlling a woman who didn’t want to be associated with them. In perpetuity. That means forever. 

Thankfully, I am now signed to a label that believes I should own anything I create. Thankfully, I left my past in Scott’s hands and not my future. And hopefully, young artists or kids with musical dreams will read this and learn about how to better protect themselves in a negotiation. You deserve to own the art you make.

I will always be proud of my past work. But for a healthier option, Lover will be out August 23.

Hello everyone. this isn’t something I would normally do, but I am hoping to get Taylor Swift to play Breath at her Melbourne show on the 26th of October. 

We are in level 1 aisle 34 row A seat 63 and 64. 

I’m trying not to make this too long so that she sees it, but this is really important to me because after 3 years of infertility and surgery to remove endometriosis, on the 19th of August we found out we were pregnant. However,  on the Wednesday just gone (the 17th of October) at a routine scan we found out that our little miracle’s heart had stopped beating completely unexpectedly despite lots of really healthy scans and previous heart beats. We are heartbroken and in more pain than I know how to put into words.

We are still going to travel to Melbourne to see Taylor, and I am hoping she might consider playing Breath for us. It’s a song I’ve always really really felt close to - and I just feel even closer to it now.

Today’s the day.

I started listening to Taylor’s music 10 years ago. When I was 13, I always wrote my favorite song titles on the classroom’s desk when I was boring, then one day, someone crossed all of my songs and wrote another list of songs that I completely had no idea who sings it (I still remember the list, it does includes Tim McGraw, Teardrops on My Guitar, White Horse, Picture to Burn, Love Story). I went home after class and searched these titles and found the girl named Taylor Swift. After that, you all know what happened. Yep, I became a Swifty. I feel there’s a strong connection between me and her music, that’s one of the reasons I’m still admiring her now. I feel that her music is growing up with me and I can use her lyrics to motivate myself if I’m in trouble.

I started collecting her CDs when I was 16 (my very first CD that I got was Speak Now) because my lucky money on Lunar New Year is pretty enough for me to afford these. But, to me, being a ‘crazy’ fan, collecting cds and merchs is not enough, you need to attend your idol’s concert at least once in your life. Unfortunately, at that time, firstly, I couldn’t afford a ticket to her concert (including traveling fares), especially there’s no hope that she will bring her tour to Vietnam. Secondly, my mom certainly wouldn’t allow me to go oversea alone even if I saved enough money. That’s the reason why I would pay any price to attend the concert this time.

If I go to a concert alone, I’m possibly quite shy and not confident enough to dance like no one’s watching. But since this is my very first Taylor Swift’s concert, I think that I attend this time not just only for myself, but also for my teenage time when I didn’t have an opportunity to see her live on stage. I will not only dance and sing for myself, but for my little-self who couldn’t be in a crowd to sing along to his favorite tracks. And especially THIS IS TAYLOR SWIFT CONCERT!!!

To my 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23. Today’s the day for you, for you to enjoy every single moment, for you to sing to your favorite songs, for you to see the one and only TAYLOR SWIFT!

I don’t understand why people on the media are thinking that Taylor is a Democrats supporter just because she voted Democrats candidates. She just want to emphasize that equality and human rights are the most important factors to build a sustainable community/country so she voted for those who have the same belief as her. She also encourages young people to vote and advice people to carefully search the background of the candidates before voting. She mentioned, “for a lot of us, we may never find a candidate or party with whom we agree 100% on every issue, but we have to vote anyway.” which means that she doesn’t care whether you gonna vote like her or not, but you have to vote because these votes will significantly impact your life.

I think that she doesn’t stand for Democrats or Republics, she just basically stands for the great values that she thinks Americans need to have.
