art is the new religion

In the post-industrial society machines have replaced humans and increasingly they will take over all the jobs they can be doing. A cashier in a supermarket must look at the self-checkout machine with anger, because this machine is cheaper than the cashier and going to make the cashier unemployed redundant. Same with many other jobs. The one skill that makes humans superior to machines is that they can have ideas and posses conciousness. The raise of the conceptual art in the past century happened almost simultaniously to the raise of the machine in factories. This artform for the first time put idea over craftmanship. This mentality is deeply rooted in our contemporary culture. It is the idea that counts, the concept. Creativity is the most human thing and nothing celebrates creativity more than art and this is why art is the new religion.
