just saying hi
an introduction post first. my name is anya, and i write a lot. i write a lot and i read a lot. a few years ago i started writing this sci fi short story, and i didn’t really plan on it turning into anything substantial, i had just read something very cool about story structure online, and i tried to sit and reproduce another story based off of it. but the more characters i added to the short story and the more fun i started having with it, it turned into something much larger.
i eventually forgot about the story structure because i ended up writing some forty or fifty pages of a standard sized book worth of words just introducing characters and building the world, and at some point, i started toying with a whole different idea: basically where a story will canonically progress from the pov of the characters, but what if the reader could choose to navigate through the story however they wanted to- like the idea was that the story would loosely progress but the way you read these sub-stories (i.e. chapters) would be up to you.
and what i felt was that being able to read a story on a website or a document online (with hyperlinking) rather than to read it as a handheld book was a possibility that hasn’t been exploited enough.
so i think while i am still open to the idea of my story being written as a physical book, i am trying to use this blog to iron out the concept itself, maybe write a different shorter story or something so that people here on tumblr can understand what i’m trying to do, and maybe if a few people engaged with it i’d be able to feel less alone in this endeavour- basically it’s like testing a beta version of my story and eventually developing it into a cohesive and accessible whole.
so yes, this is me saying hi!
i'm going to update this soon, but if you find this rn and would like to see what i'm working on, give me a follow and stick around! i'll follow you back too i promise.
