In the lower right corner are the author's monogram and date. On the back there is an inscription: "Vseobuch", on the mount the inscription: "Arefiev A.D. / "Vseobuch", 1969 / boom., mixed, technical, 21×30 cm".
Painter, graphic artist, sculptor. He received his initial art education in the studio of the Palace of Pioneers named after A.A. Zhdanov (1941) at M.A. Gorokhovoy, S.D. Levina. He studied at the Leningrad Secondary Art School (1944–1949; excluded), Leningrad Sanitary and Hygienic Medical Institute (1954–1956) for the purpose of professional study of anatomy. In 1956 he was arrested and convicted of forgery of medical prescriptions, in 1959 he was released; in 1965 he was convicted for hooliganism for the second time. He lived in Leningrad, in 1977 he emigrated; he lived in Austria for a short time, then moved to Paris. A representative of informal Leningrad art of the 1950s-1970s. He was friendly with artists M.M. Shemyakin, V.G. Traugotom, V.N. Shagin, R.R. Vasmi, N.A. Schwartz. Creativity is represented in many museum collections, including the State Russian Museum, the State Museum of History of St. Petersburg, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Zimmerley Art Museum in New Brunswick (New Jersey).
