How do you strike a keynote finding a job using job portals?
Tumblr media
Online Job boards are mushrooming with new ones popping now and then which entices every job hunter to submit their resume with a hope of grabbing that role they need.  However, as these job boards compete with each other to increase their database, its of vital importance that a job seeker should realize importance of targeting and striking the keynotes.
Job portals for most of us who are computer savvy sounds like a simple orchestrated process i.e.  One can either scan through many job boards either relaxing on a couch at home or going through apps which are available on your handheld devices or during a lunch break at work. All that seems to pause that scanning process is one look of a job that looks like your match and then it’s just to shoot your resume - job done!  Well, this indeed is a process which is simple but not effective.  The major concern with this approach is that your resume will be lost in the ocean of thousands of other applicants leading to employers or recruiters failing to notice you if you do not make efforts to stand out during that micro minutes of resume screening.
Let’s have a look to enhance your ways to achieve desired result i.e. using job portals effectively to source a job.
Get the insight of how portals work:
The moment you hit the send or submit or upload button on a portal, the first screening process to weed out your resume or get your resume past to a manual human screening is most likely a software which needs to read your resume.  At this stage if your resume stops short with the customized software's expectation, then its case of your resume getting lost without being reviewed effectively. The reason you may not go past this hurdle is if your resume is not targeting the role as it should be. A better idea to target the role is to look at each and every job description and notice keywords, mandatory requirements of the role if any i.e. qualifications, expertise or skills required.  However, just to caution - do not flood too many keywords at the beginning of your resume. What will help is a brief profile which highlights your related strengths to that specific role in order for the job board software to get you past initial screening hurdles.
Bring out your value to Recruiter / Employer:
A generic CV or a poorly drafted covering letter will make a recruiter / employer's job easier to weed your application out of process. You need to focus on selling yourselves, to highlight your value to the potential recruiter / employer by specific bullet points for them to quickly acknowledge that you can indeed add value to their requirements.  First page of your CV is crucial to bring this value on table. Concentrate on job description, relevant key words, and any achievements which can help your CV screening. Your CV should be neatly formatted with consistent fonts, well written paragraphs to avoid any impression of copy paste text just incase you have done so.
Be in the list of early birds:
The moment an advert for role goes live; there will be early birds who will apply. If you think the role is a fit, make sure you join the early list however make sure you do not mess up with a wrong grammar or incorrect spelling.  Most of the job portals will offer alert services for your profile, use it effectively.
Keep it simple:
Do not indulge in beautifying your CV with art or design, avoid images or graphic design - for the purpose of online portals keep your CV easy to read for anyone's eyes. Your current residence address unless asked for is not important to write just to make sure you are not weeded out of shortlisting incase a geographical location is not a constraint for you to relocate.  Do make sure you enter a correct email and contact number.  Research the large job portals as well as specific portals which specialize in your industry.

Steps to keep in Mind while applying for Jobs Online
Tumblr media
Chapter 02:
If you are asked about name of your current boss or references – this needs to be treated in similar fashion – just say “can be furnished”. These are sensitive details which you can hold on till you reach an offer stage.
Many applications also ask to mention description of your current role or your overall experience, instead of writing an exhaustive description you could either write few lines or could simply suggest to look at resume which will most likely be required to attach. Alternatively, you can copy paste summary from your LinkedIn profile or resume directly into the application form.
Another crucial tip is to effectively use “KEYWORDS” in your resume which should be fine tuned to sync with the job description. Make sure you use as many as keywords in your resume which has words leading to believe are synonyms to the keywords mentioned in the job description , if not the exact keywords mentioned.  This is of vital importance as most of the junior recruiters or screening resources want to make their life easy by just downloading the word resume and “find” keywords as much as possible matching to the job description. Corporate these days also have their internal HR system software to weed out resume which do not have specific key words like Indiref.
Last but not the least; make sure your covering letter is absolutely clear and concise to the job published. You need to ensure your skill sets, key words, experience i.e. you need to take pain to address all specific information in a concise way what the recruiter or employer wants to see inside your resume.

How to apply Jobs Online through Job Portals accurately.
Tumblr media
How to Apply for Jobs Online Through Online Job Portals?
This might sound amateurish for a job seeker today in this era where everyone ends up creating online email accounts or social media accounts or an account to shop online without much efforts.  If anyone thinks it indeed is as easy as a cakewalk, then it’s time to throw some crucial eye opener facts to wake you up if you feel you have been actively applying for jobs on multiple portals and you still keep on wondering – why am I hardly getting any feedback despite shooting resumes all across multiple portals  ?
Worried after Applying for Jobs
To answer this question, it’s time to turn the tables around and think from a perspective of an employer or a recruiter and the key differentiator one will realise is to ask this question to ourselves - how to ENSURE any employer or a recruiter will feel the “NEED TO REVERT” to your online application?
Let’s dig in deep, once you submit your resume online – you could be one ordinary small fish amongst thousands of other small/big fish in the ocean as your resume might be seen by tons of recruiters or employers but would fail to attract their attention i.e. they quickly scan your profile in seconds / minutes and move on as they don’t see what they want to see in a resume.   So let’s have a look at few do’s and don’ts which tells you how to apply to ensure you will be noticed.
Steps to keep in Mind
First and foremost is one needs to understand the importance of “skill set”.    You need to make sure you mention “specific skill sets” you possess which is in sync with the job published on a portal.  More the chances of success to be noticed, to be a screen shortlist, to be called for an interview is when you ensure your specific skills matches closely with the job published.  If you think the skills sets are ordinary for the job published or your skills are not a near match – you should refrain applying for the job.
The next question is how do you ensure your skill sets match many job description which you think is your role but the description is not exactly what you are?  Well, when you look at various job description on job portals online – you will notice the online applications have a template which is usually a standard template for all skills ie one single template for all roles - and this template would ask you to mention exhaustive details.  You are better off taking an approach that you do not necessarily have to answer each and every question.   Rather there are certain questions which you can easily avoid to ensure your resume is not weeded out from the screening process.  For e.g., certain templates will necessarily ask you to mention current salary or expected salary.  It’s advisable if you mention a single or double digit or any odd or even number instead of your actual salary. Not saying you need to misguide anyone about your salary situation however many times despite having a budget to fulfil a position – the employer/recruiter may not find the right fit and be assuming they do find a right fit  but employee’s current or salary expectation is higher to their budget – they tend to screen reject the resume based on simply monetary criteria.  This,  at times also sounds harsh on a prospective employee for not getting past to interview stage just due to salary constraints.
Stay tuned as the chapter 02 of the same topic will be revealed soon…

Consultant will make a effort for  personal strategy as to how one would try to gain new business. There is no word in the dictionary of a consultant that I DONT KNOW.
Implementation for a business man is a much bigger pain than one ever can hope and imagine and at  this point of stage the consultant comes in the picture to downplay the disruption factors as each or rather every small or big projects are disruptive in nature.
