Chronically Ill Hexagon asking for help

im desperate

on July 4th i returned home from a small family vacation and caught something on the plane that triggered a bad crohns disease flare. i went to the ER twice in excruciating pain and each time they sent me home telling me it was just a stomach bug

on July 17 i finally got my remicade infusion 2 weeks late, and on July 19 i had a gastroscopy. on July 24 i had a CT scan

i still havent heard about the results from either, and my specialist hasnt returned any of my calls asking for a letter so i can go on medical leave

my workplace similarly has NOT responded to my request for a Record of Employment, which keeps me from going on EI

i have not been able to work since July 4th and have had zero money coming in because i cant apply for EI without any of the paperwork ive been asking repeatedly for. after barely managing to pay rent, im solidly at -5 dollars

this entire ordeal has been awful. i feel like im being failed at every opportunity by medical professionals and my workplace and i dont know what to do. i can barely eat, drink, or walk without pain, and while im slowly recovering, i still dont know when i'll be able to return to work

so im asking here for help. for anything to help get me food i can actually keep down while i recover

the kids online safety act passed the u.s. senate.

long story short (for anyone who hadn't heard of this before) the kids online safety act, aka kosa, is a bill that will censor online content and resources for lgbtq+ matters, reproductive healthcare, activism (INCLUDING PALESTINE AND LIKELY OTHER CRISES GOING ON LIKE IN CONGO OR SUDAN), mental health, etc. everywhere--its effects likely won't be contained to just america.

today, july 30th, 2024, the senate passed it 91-3. it has officially moved to the house of representatives.

is this a pretty massive setback? yes. do you have every right to be scared, sad, angry, or whatever else about this happening? absolutely. but should you give up hope completely? NO!

even though kosa passed the senate, the house is on break/august recess at the moment. we have around an entire month to get emails, calls, and faxes in to house reps, maybe more depending on when they decide to vote on it.

should it pass the house and get signed into law, we still have a whole 18 months before it actually goes into effect. this is plenty of time for digital rights orgs (e.g. fight for the future, the electronic frontier foundation) and other groups that oppose it to file a lawsuit against it. even if, worst-case scenario, it flies through the house immediately after the recess ends, we can still fight this up to march 2026.

so, yes, remember what's at stake here, but also remember that it's not over yet. we lost a battle, not the war.

this shit is to DISTRACT you from what's going on in the world right now: i cannot believe that i'm watching people on this website of all websites celebrate the olympics this year. israeli soldiers are participating in the games this year while Arab athletes are struggling to be allowed to participate. if you are not aware this year's games are completely fueled by Zionism:

there is nothing to celebrate at ALL here. my favorite band did the opening ceremony and i STILL don't give a fuck about this and i'm disgusted they opted to participate. i can't listen to them again after this. there's NO reason to be celebrating ANY of this. the olympics were designed to bring people together but it's more clear than ever that this is just for money and prestige. the rights of the Arab athletes and palestinians everywhere are being directly threatened by this.

hello, my name is equinox. i'm a multiply disabled intersex trans person who deals with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, hypermobile ehler's danlos syndrome, arthritis, IBS, and other health problems. i am currently saving up for august's rent- due to my disabilities, i cannot hold down a 'formal' job. it has been dangerously hot where live, being routinely in the 90's, getting up into the 100s which has made it difficult to do just about anything, let alone work.
