The real estate market has had several ups and downs in the past few years. What remains consistent is the competitive market made more difficult by the limited number of potential clients. However, the future of real estate seems bright. More than 45% of Millenials are expected to start buying their own properties with 2020 as the peak buying year for the generation.
A number of young adults are already considering investing their money on a real estate property. Currently, the majority of home buyers are Millenials making up about 37 percent of the entire potential buyers. The number is expected to rise rapidly within the next few years.
Because most buyers choose debt financing, they will be more selective before finalizing their decisions to maximize the value of their money. The combination of increasing property market prices and limited financing drives Millenial buyers to scrutinize most, if not all aspects, of a house. This includes the surrounding community, nearby schools, career opportunities in the area and more.
With new types of clients come new purchasing behaviors. Millennials prefer the web as their primary source of information. With most of them spending more than 3 hours a day on their smartphones and more than 30 minutes using a computer, having a strong online presence is essential.

However, editing PDF files is generally not very easy. If you need to edit a PDF document, you can use iWork Pages. But you will need to first convert PDF to Pages. In this article, we will show you the easiest ways to convert PDF to Pages.
Method 1: Convert PDF to MS Word and Then Save as Pages
One of the most effective methods of converting a PDF document to a Pages document is to first convert the PDF file to a Microsoft Word document > open the Word document with iWork Pages > and then save the file as a Pages document. With the right tool, this method is much easier than it sounds.
Convert Pdf To Doc
To convert the PDF file to a Word document, you will need to use a tool known as PDF WIZ. The tool is 100% free – you won’t need to pay any monthly or annual fees to use it. With the steps outlined below, you should find it extremely easy to convert PDF to Word using PDF WIZ:
Step 1: Download and install PDF WIZ on your computer.
Step 2: Launch the tool. On the “Convert PDF to” screen, select Word.
Step 3: On the next screen, add your PDF file via dragging and dropping or simply click the Add File button to select the file.
Step 4: After adding the files you would like to convert, simply hit the CONVERT NOW button and wait for a few seconds. After the conversion, you can go to the file’s saved location by simply clicking the button under Location.
After converting the PDF document to Word, the next thing you will need to do is open the file with the iWork Pages software and then save the file as a Pages document. The steps below should help you with this:
Step 1: Launch Pages software on your computer – you can find the software in your Mac’s Application folder.
Step 2: Click on the File menu > select Open and then navigate to the location where you have stored your Word file (the Word file you obtained after performing the conversion using the procedure described previously).
Step 3: Select the file and click Open. Wait for the opening process to complete.
Note: A window may show on your screen detailing any changes that had to be made to your file. The more complicated the MS Word file (tables, image placement, formatting, etc.), the higher the possibility of changes.
Step 4: Once the process is complete, go to File > select Save. On the save file dialog box, choose the location where you would like to save the file. By default, the Pages software will save your file to the Pages file format.
Method 2: Convert PDF to Pages online
If you have internet access and the PDF document you would like to convert to Pages does not feature confidential information, you can use an online tool to perform the conversion. One of the best online tools you can use to convert PDF to Pages is known as CleverPDF. The steps outlined below will show you exactly what you need to do to convert PDF to Pages using CleverPDF:
Step 1: Using a computer web browser, visit https://www.cleverpdf.com/pdf-to-pages
Step 2: Drag and drop the file you would like to convert to the workspace. Alternatively, click the Choose File button to manually browse through your folders and locate the file.
Note: CleverPDF works with both Google Drive and Dropbox. If your document is stored in one of these cloud storage services, you can add the file to the converter by clicking the logo for the respective service.
Step 3: After uploading your file, simply click the Start Conversion button.
Step 4: After the conversion is complete, you will simply need to download the Pages document. To do this, simply click the Download button. Alternatively, you can save the file to Google Drive and Dropbox by clicking the logos to the right of the Download button.
Note: Online Tools Have Limitations
Online converters may not work for everyone. This is because of the following reasons:
Privacy risks – To convert PDF to Pages, you will have to upload your document to a third-party server. Once you upload the file, you won’t have the ability to control who can view or cannot view the document. For this reason, you should only use online converters with documents that do not contain any sensitive information.
They have size limits – Most online converters will limit you to only converting files that do not exceed a certain size. If your document has a bigger size than the one specified, you won’t be able to perform the conversion.
Their efficiency depends on internet speed – If you have a slow internet connection, you may have to wait for a long time before the conversion is complete.
Note: You can easily avoid all the above limitations by using desktop tools. Simply use a combination of PDF WIZ and iWork Pages and you won’t have to deal with any limitations.
Extra Tip: How to Insert PDF to Page
Convert Pdf To Pages Online For Free
Sometimes you may not want to convert PDF to Pages – you may just want to insert a PDF file in your iWork Pages document. This will eliminate the need to type the PDF content into your Pages document, reducing your workload. The steps outlined below will make it possible for you to insert a PDF file into your Pages document:
Step 1: Launch the iWork Pages software on your computer and open an existing or a new document.
Step 2: Position the cursor where you would like the PDF document to appear.
Step 3: Select Insert > Choose from the main menu. This will open a search dialog.
Step 4: Locate the PDF file you would like to insert and select it. Click the Insert button. The PDF file will appear in your pages document where you can easily see the images in the PDF document and see the text.
Summary
Converting PDF files to iWork Pages is not very complicated. The steps in this article make it even easier for you to convert PDF to Pages. If you would like to avoid internet speed limits, PDF file size limits, and privacy risks, consider using desktop tools. If your document does not have any sensitive information and you are sure you won’t have to deal with any limitations associated with online tools, you can use an online tool to convert PDF to Pages.

Blu-ray is arguably the most popular disc format right now so it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that Blu-ray player software is currently in very high demanding. Unfortunately, this type of software tends to be quite expensive, which is understandable given that it’s not easy to develop. However, if you’re looking for a free Mac Blu-ray player you won’t be completely disappointed because there are a few options available out there. With that in mind, today we’re going to take a look at these options to talk a bit about what each of them has to offer. A bit later on we’re also going to discuss a great premium alternative so make sure to stick around until the end of the article.
Part 1: Top 5 Free Mac Blu-ray Players
VLC Media Player
It’s almost impossible to create a list of media players without mentioning VLC Media Player, and with good reason. The player has been around for a long time and earned the loyalty of its users over the years on pretty every platform, including Mac. The main reason why VLC is so popular is because the player can really handle almost everything you throw at it. Among other things, the software does a good job when it comes to Blu-ray playback and is highly customizable to boot. However, the free Mac Blu-ray player isn’t without its flaws. VLC doesn’t support navigation menus at the moment and struggles when playing movies directly from the disc.
KMPlayer
KMPlayer has been a staple for Windows users since the early 2000s but now you can finally also get it for Mac. This new version comes equipped with most of the same features and tools as the Windows version and may even be a better choice than VLC for some users. The player can handle Blu-ray discs a bit better than its counterpart and has its fair share of skins and other customization options available. That said, there is a caveat with this free Mac Blu-ray player. KMPlayer is currently in Beta on Mac so you’re likely to come across bugs, crushes, and various other technical issues sooner or later. It’s still a good player in spite of that but it might be a good idea to wait for the official release before you download it.
Leawo
Leawo is another well-known free Blu-ray player software for Mac that also happens to be quite good at playing DVDs, which is how it became famous in the first place. In terms of its Blu-ray playback capabilities, the software isn’t too shabby either and can even play physical discs from several different regions. Much like VLC, the player struggles a bit with navigation menus, particularly when it comes to Blu-rays. This aspect makes it less than ideal in certain situations but the good news is that Leawo doesn’t suffer from any major technical issues so it’s a better choice than KMPlayer in that regard.
Free Mac Blu-ray Player
Free Mac Blu-ray Player
Our final pick comes from Blu-ray Master and isable to fulfill your playback needs from some aspects. You can get this Mac Blu-ray player for free and expect most of the features offered by players like VLC, KMPlayer, and Leawo. The intuitive user interface is what sets this one apart, however, the free Mac Blu-ray Player has virtually no support for 1080pvideos can only play some old Blu-ray movies. If you have some old Blu-ray collections you may consider this Blu-ray player.
Part 2: The Most Powerful Mac Blu-ray Players to Play Blu-rays and 4K UHD Blu-rays
A common theme with the free Mac Blu-ray players we discussed previously is that they either struggle or are unable to reliably play 4K videos, not to mention 4K UHD Blu-rays. Fortunately, that’s not an issue for a professional alternative like DVDFab Player 5 for Mac, which can literally play anything you throw its way. Unlike the free players, this software always supports navigation menus not just for DVDs and regular Blu-rays but 4K UHD Blu-rays as well, which is a pretty unique feature even among professional players.
Speaking of unique features, the player also uses cutting-edge scaling technology to allow users to watch 2D content in 3D mode. If you’re a movie collector, you’ll love DVDFab Player 5 because it makes it easy and organize and manage playlists and includes a great Preview feature that lets you quickly find your favorite scenes from any movie you’re watching. In addition to all of that, the player also supports Hi-Res audio, HDR10, and includes two distinct playback modes along with a number of great customization tools to boot.
1. Open DVDFab Player 5 and choose either the PC or TV playback mode, depending on which device you want to watch the movie on.
2. Shortly after you insert a Blu-ray disc, the software will attempt to recognize it and list it in the main menu so you can simply open it from there. Alternatively, you can also use the “+” button to add a movie that’s already on your hard drive.
3. Once you pick the movie you will be greeted by the navigation menu so feel free to use it to change the language, select subtitles or audio tracks, skip to certain scenes, and more. Utility paint brush.
4. Click Play Movie when you want to start watching the film and don’t hesitate to hit the right-click button whenever you want to access the customization tools.
Conclusion
Free Blu-ray player software for Mac is a bit uncommon but the choices you do have are all pretty good. However, if you’re looking for a more complete experience you’re going to have to opt to a professional player sooner or later. Luckily, you can try DVDFab Player 5 for Mac for free so don’t hesitate to check it out and then decide later when it’s time to upgrade in order to gain access to all its unique features.

I recently painted the goblins from the Dungeon Dwellers expansion in the Bones 5 Kickstarter. (Late pledge here.) The first half of this article is a discussion of my colour scheme choices and paint process for painting the figures, with some work-in-progress pictures. The second half discusses making paint choices based on paint properties other than colour alone, and why just adding white to your midtone colour isn’t always the best way to make great highlight colours.
If you just want to see closer up views of the finished figures, scroll down until you see more pictures on blue backgrounds. Members of the Fill the Feeder level on my Patreon receive PDF copies of my articles that include larger high quality photos than I can provide here.
Also let me know which side you take in the great goblin colour debate!
Typically I paint one figure at a time, and approach each as an individual character. This painting project required working on a group of similar characters, while still trying to give each a bit of individuality. I have tremendous respect for all of you who paint armies and units, or just paint high volume to get a lot of cool looking figures on the table. It is not easy to do! You have to balance time investment and colour and technique choices to get the best result possible in the shortest amount of time.
Size comparison shot with a standard heroic gaming scale figure in the centre.
I used the start of the project as an opportunity to practice with the Vex airbrush. I primed the figures black with the airbrush, and also did the initial lay-in of the skin colours with the airbrush. Since I am not very practiced yet with airbrushing, I started with the two figures that are already available in metal. Anne Foerster had already painted up great versions of those, so if my initial attempts went very wrong or I ended up not having time to finish all of them, Reaper would still have painted versions of those two.
Doing a test figure or two can be very helpful before working on a group like a unit or army. It gives you a chance to discover non-optimal choices at a stage where they will take much less time to change or redo. With these figures I learned that I preferred true metallics to non-metallic metal at an earlier stage than having to repaint the whole group. This is also the stage when you might discover that a particular colour is more challenging or time-consuming to work with than suits this kind of project.
These were the figures after my initial skin airbrushing session. The complete set of paints used on these two was: 9492 Wyvern Leather, 9457 Goblin Skin, 9247 Saffron Sunset, 9234 Bright Skin Highlight (discontinued), and then a light spray of 9417 Void Blue in the shadows. (Skin colours used on all the goblins are discussed later in the article.)
I wasn’t sure I was 100% happy with them. When I posted them for feedback in the airbrush class channel, Aaron Lovejoy suggested that I work up the rest of the figures at least with base coat colours to be able to better judge the skin. This is very good advice. It’s often hard to judge things in isolation. So I worked on them a little more.
I still wasn’t sure these were working out, or if they were a little too dark and murky. It can be challenging to paint figures that both stand out on the table, but also look suitably dungeon dweller disheveled. I thought it would be a good next step to paint in the metal areas, since those would be among the brightest spots on the figures. Trying to judge whether colours are working before at least some of the lightest and some of the darkest colours are in place can be difficult. I initially chose to use the non-metallic technique, which is my usual choice for figures with smaller metal areas and those primarily intended for photography. I did some work on the base stones as well.
These two goblins were largely done apart from a few details, but I still wasn’t quite feeling it. I now knew for sure that I needed to go back and work on the skin a little more, but I wasn’t sure if they were working overall apart from that. I decided to start on the rest of the group and circle back to these two if time permitted. I don’t have many WIP shots of those, but I do have one I took to test my new phone’s camera.
By using VirtualBox, you can install Windows on your Mac. This enables you to run Windows-only applications on your Mac. Here are the main steps involved in installing Windows on a Mac: Download and Install VirtualBox. https://incomeloading176.tumblr.com/post/652913928639299584/install-windows-on-mac-using-virtualbox. Follow the displayed instructions and soon the Windows OS will be installed. Basically, the interface of VirtualBox on Mac OS is similar to the Windows design, the difference is based on Aqua graphical theme only, which is applicable to all the Mac OS program tools. Try setting up VirtualBox on Mac OS and you won’t be frustrated, that’s for.
I took a slightly different approach with the skin of these. I again laid in the foundation of light and shadow with the airbrush. Though I forgot about using Void Blue in the shadows like I had on the previous pair! Then I went back over them with my standard brush. They’re small figures and my airbrush skills are nascent, so I wasn’t able to be as precise as I needed to be to establish all the shadows and highlights. I used slightly browner shadows on half of them and redder shadows on the other half, but I’m not sure that the subtle difference is noticeable after the final stages of reworking and adding glazes.
I also worked on detailing the eyes and teeth at this early stage, instead of leaving them for later as I had on the initial two. Partly this was because a few of the figures had bows near their faces that would make the details more challenging to paint if I waited until the end. Partly it was because I enjoy painting figures more once the faces are at least somewhat detailed and and they have a little personality.
Then I worked on getting the bulk of the other areas on the figures painted so I could decide whether I wanted to stick with non-metallic metal and add more contrast, or whether I wanted to switch to metallics. The picture above was a comparison of the new batch with the original two before I enhanced the skin of the first two.
I wanted the skin to be the focus on these. Most of them aren’t wearing a lot of gear, so they have large areas of skin. Bobby Jackson sculpted some fun anatomy on them. They have wiry ropy muscles and little pot bellies and man boobs. I also love how much individuality there is in their faces. One is battle berserker crazy, another is world-weary, a couple look kind of derpy, etc.
To play up the orange of the skin, I used a complementary colour scheme on the first two goblins with the chest armour. Complementary colours sit opposite one another on the colour wheel. So their cloth is blue, and there’s a little bit of green in their leather straps to complement the red in their shadows. The goblin with the shield in the image below has this complementary colour scheme.
With the rest of the goblins, I used more of a split complementary colour scheme. In a split complementary scheme you use the two colours to either side of the complementary colour. So in the case of these goblins, rather than blue, I used blue-green and blue-violet. Each of the goblins had cloth painted in medium values of one of those colours, and then highlights on their dark leather accessories painted with the other colour. So the fellow on the far right of the top row above has a blue-green loin cloth and blue-violet highlights on his black leather, and the goblin on the far left bottom row is the opposite.
Since these are goblins and not wealthy nobles, I didn’t want the blue-green and blue-violet to be too saturated and rich looking. I added grey to my mixes when doing the initial painting. My final stage of painting was to add some earth tone glazes to deepen or unify shadows and add weathering. Then I used some weathering pigments to add a little more weathering and colour variation. Both of these tools further desaturated the richer colours. I was aiming to strike a balance between being true to the character and nature of the figures, but keeping them interesting to look at. I used earth tone colours lower in saturation for their for wood, rope, and leather accessories. Too much colour can be overpowering, especially for this type of character.
A quick note on the wolves two of the goblins are riding. In game terms these are wargs, and I wanted them to look suitably fierce and unpleasant. I also wanted them to be mounts/companions, not become the main characters in their pairings. I chose to paint them with an overall dark value for those reasons – it fit the characterization, and it complemented rather than distracted from the more vivid goblin skins. I did want to give them some visual interest and personality, though. To do that, I variegated the fur colour a little. I used orange-browns on the heads and manes to echo the goblin colours and frame their faces. I used warm greys on the rest of the fur. I put my focus in detailing on the faces, and used more saturated colours in the noses, lips, and eyes. (The eyes are also a little nod to one of my high school French teachers who had creepy pale blue wolf eyes, and was well aware of it.) I used the weathering powders on their fur as well as their bases to add some additional colour variation and grunginess.
Paint Properties
I have written a previous article where I talked about the properties of paint, and another discussing properties of colours. Some of the choices I made on these goblins create an opportunity for me to discuss a real world example of choosing to use paints based on their properties as much as their colours. Miniature painters, particularly those newer to the hobby, often want paints that are as uniformly matte and opaque as possible. You’ll hear reviews that emphasize the importance of uniformity in a paint line or suggestions that a paint company must be ‘cheating’ their customers if this colour or that doesn’t cover opaquely in just a coat or two.
However, in watching videos and reading articles from some of the most talented miniature painters working in the hobby, it is clear that many take advantage of the differences between paint brands or pigment colours in opacity, sheen, or other elements in their painting. I make no claim to that level of ability, but I used that idea in two ways on these figures.
Best Paint Brush
First, prior to working on the weathering steps, I had to make a decision about how to handle the metal items on these figures. I decided to switch over to using true metallics. I did not feel that the NMM was providing enough contrast and visual interest. These figures are fairly small, and the smaller a figure, the more contrast it needs to read well to the viewer and pop on the table/shelf. I had painted the NMM on my test pair somewhat lower contrast to try to keep them looking like gritty dungeon monsters. It did not pop enough, but I was concerned that adding more highlights would result in a type of NMM that wouldn’t fit the character type. Plus metallics just seemed like the right choice for some old school Dungeon Dweller figures! The unique properties of the sparkle and sheen of metallic paints contrasted with the matte paints on the rest of the figures seemed like the answer to what I needed here. (Note that I used the shaded metallic technique and applied shadows with matte paints.)
My second decision based on paint/colour properties was using a somewhat transparent colour to highlight the skin – Saffron Sunset. Saffron Sunset is a yellow-orange colour. Burnt Orange was another colour I considered. I could also have just have mixed a warm white like Linen White or Mold Yellow into the Goblin Skin orange to make highlights. All of these share the properties of being lighter value colours in the same colour family as Goblin Skin with the potential to work as highlights for that colour. But they differ in certain properties that made me more inclined to choose one than another.
9247 Saffron Sunset is a rich colour without being a fully saturated true yellow-orange. It is also a slightly transparent colour. 9111 Burnt Orange is similar in hue, but duller in saturation and a little more opaque. 9201Orange Brown is a nice rich colour, but it’s darker in value. It’s too close in value to 9457 Goblin Skin to really work as a highlight. Mixing in a near-white colour to make my own highlight creates a much more opaque colour, but also a much duller colour. (If you look back at the Saturation section here you can see that adding in white, grey, or black desaturates colours.) The skin of these goblins would look much duller if I had highlighted their skin with either of the examples below that were mixed with near-whites. The Goblin Skin paint colour mixed with near-whites actually created colours that are pretty close to normal human skin tones.
The following are painted swatches of these colours to help you visualize what I’m talking about. Wet paint brush in fridge. The black line was drawn on the paper with a Sharpie prior to applying any paint. This is a common technique in traditional painting to be able to easily assess colour opacity from painted swatches. The larger squares were decent amounts of paint applied with a large brush. Since that isn’t really how we paint miniatures, I also added smaller stripes of paint with a miniature painting size brush loaded with a more moderate amount of paint. The small stripes give you a much more accurate impression of the coverage levels of each of the paints.
I added a couple of other swatches at the end. Second from the right is a mix of Goblin Skin with Candlelight Yellow, which is the rightmost square. Escoda paint brushes. This mix is very similar to Saffron Sunset in both property and colour. It’s a much brighter and more transparent highlight colour than the ones mixed with near whites, and it’s a little more transparent than the Burnt Orange. If I had mixed my own highlights, using Candlelight Yellow would have been a much better choice than white. Using yellows to mix highlights can also be more effective for red and green colours. (Experiment with your yellows. Candlelight Yellow here probably wouldn’t work as well with greens as with reds.) Premixed colours help me paint more quickly and easily, so it’s worth it to me to have the Saffron Sunset in my collection. If you enjoy colour mixing or prefer to keep your collection of paint compact, make sure you have a yellow or two in your collection for flexibility when mixing highlights.
The colours from my sample test swatches above. See picture below for the paints actually used on the figures.
Where the transparency comes in is that I was using this for highlights. People who get frustrated about transition lines in the layering technique typically have more trouble with highlights than with shadows. This is partly because many dark colours are not super opaque. Lighter colours often contain white, which is a very opaque pigment. Colours containing white often look streaky or show a lot of transition lines when used for painting in the layering technique. It can be challenging to thin them down to the correct opacity for layering. So using a slightly transparent colour like Saffron Sunset made things a little easier and quicker, and well as creating a more vibrant look that I liked. For the top highlights I did mix in a little white, and those lighter highlights did have a few transition lines I had to clean up at the end of painting.
(Fun fact – red is the first practice colour in the Layer Up! learn to paint kit for precisely this reason. Reds and oranges are somewhat transparent, so they’re easier to blend via layering than many more opaque colours.)
Saffron Sunset is also a great colour for glazes to enrich or shift colour. Sometimes when I paint blond hair or non-metallic metal gold it comes out looking a little too cool and lifeless. It needs a touch of yellow, but just a touch. I thin Saffron Sunset down to a glaze consistency and apply it over the area and it adds a little warmth and richness to the colour. Colours that are highly saturated and at least somewhat transparent are the easiest to work with for glazes used in this fashion.
The goblin painted green is from the Goblin Skirmishers pack.
Great Goblin Colour Debate and the Bones 5 Goblin Skin Paint Colours
My first exposure to Dungeons and Dragons was back in the early 80s via the red box set. Either I didn’t pay attention at the time or forgot in the intervening years that Dungeons and Dragons goblins are described as red-orange-yellow in colouration. Thanks to the influences of World of Warcraft and Warhammer, goblins are now often thought of as being green. Let me know in the comments which you prefer and why!
Below is a photo with the complete list of colours I used to paint the skin on these goblin figures. Install mac virtualbox. (I forgot to add the bottle of 9417 Void Blue that I used in the shadows of the two with breast plates.) If you don’t have Goblin Skin or Saffron Sunset, I think you’d get something close with Orange Brown and Candlelight Yellow. For shadows any warm reddish-brown should give a similar effect to the Minotaur Hide or Wyvern Leather. Options include 9071 Chestnut Brown or 9241 Auburn Shadow.
Patron Spotlight: Brian Reichert
This blog is made possible thanks to the generous support of my patrons. The Patron Spotlight is an opportunity for me to share their work and philosophy with the world! From Brian:
About 2 years ago my wife and I were gifted a game called Mansions of Madness. It’s a Lovecraft horror based co-op game and it came with a bunch of models. After a few months of playing grey I got tired of the bland models and decided to try my hand at this “miniature painting thing”.
After a bunch of research I eventually discovered the Learn to Paint kits and worked my way through them both. That along with tons of help from the Reaper community and I’ve managed to paint all of Mansions of Madness plus several expansions, totalling about 100 figures and I’ve got more games to go.
My goal isn’t to be a competition level painter. At this point I just want to paint my games and have them look OK on the table. To that end I’ve been keeping a photo gallery of things I’ve painted so I can look back and see how I’ve progressed.
Feel free to skim if you want, there’s some stuff I’m proud of in there and some I’m not so excited about but it’s there. Warts and all.
To contrast, I painted the running girl in February of 2019. She was the very first thing I painted on my own after the Learn to Paint kits. The others are just some of the ones I’m most proud of.
Paint Brush Drawing
Thanks to you and the Reaper Community for all the help so far. I’m proud of my progress but I’m also humbled to know there is no end game in this and will be learning for years to come.

Wet Paint Brush
Over the past few years it has become increasingly harder to find inexpensive hog bristle brushes.
Plastic fiber or nylon brushes now fill the shelves in stores. The large round hog bristle brush is becoming rare therefore I now use small house painting brushes. There are some good inexpensive brushes available in stores and soft nylon brushes can be useful. Artist Brushes for Wet-on-wet Landscape Painting. Painting students have asked which artist brushes for painting in oils and which brushes for painting in acrylics. I tell them, brushes for loose, wet-on-wet techniques of painting landscapes in oil or acrylic are the same brush. Which brushes to buy for oil or acrylic painting?, and where to buy the brushes? Use the same brushes for oil or acrylic. I realize my lessons are enjoyed all round the world and some painters cannot afford expensive artist brushes. My thoughts on brushes come from my experience as a professional landscape painter.

Different people have different habits with their artists brushes. I am so messy and lazy when it comes to cleaning brushes that for me to buy expensive brushes would soon find me financially embarrassed. So if you are an organized person you may wish to invest in expensive brushes, but it is not a priority. Inexpensive brushes can be just as useful as expensive brushes. It is the skill of applying paint that matters not the price of the brush. You do need an art supplies store for the full selection of proper artist’s brushes. I often go to a hardware store and spend about $4 or $6 on a 2 inch wide house painting brush (Much less when I am in Thailand). I want to paint a landscape when I invest in a shiny new brush.
The brushes can be broken up into groups, Hog bristle, nylon or soft hair. Then the size and shape:- round, flat, large, small and then there is the fan brush. For me to quote the sizes printed on the brushes is not of use here as different countries and different brands of brush have different size standards. For Mac OS X hosts, Oracle VirtualBox ships in a disk image ( dmg ) file. Perform the following steps: Double-click on that file to have its contents mounted. VirtualBox allows you to install an alternative operating system on your Mac such as Windows, Linux, Solaris and just about any other OS you can think of. VirtualBox is considerably lighter than more well known packages such as Parallels and setting up a new OS is very simple and straightforward. In the Guest OS (Mac OS X), open System Preferences Sharing, then activate Remote Login; note the ip address specified in the Remote Login instructions, e.g. Ssh [email protected]; In VirtualBox, open Devices Network Network Settings Advanced Port Forwarding and specify Host IP = 127.0.0.1, Host Port 2222, Guest IP 10.0.2.15, Guest Port 22.
As installation of Oracle VM VirtualBox varies depending on your host operating system, the following sections provide installation instructions for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and Oracle Solaris.
For the various versions of Windows that are supported as host operating systems, please refer to Section 1.4, “Supported Host Operating Systems”.
VirtualBox prior to version 4.3.30 must not be installed as it is not compatible with Docker Desktop. Mac with Apple silicon. Install and run Docker Desktop on Mac.
In addition, Windows Installer must be present on your system. This should be the case for all supported Windows platforms.
The Oracle VM VirtualBox installation can be started in either of the following ways: Install windows on mac using virtualbox.
By double-clicking on the executable file.
By entering the following command:
This will extract the installer into a temporary directory, along with the .MSI file. Run the following command to perform the installation:
Using either way displays the installation Welcome dialog and enables you to choose where to install Oracle VM VirtualBox, and which components to install. In addition to the Oracle VM VirtualBox application, the following components are available:
USB support. This package contains special drivers for your Windows host that Oracle VM VirtualBox requires to fully support USB devices inside your virtual machines.
Networking. This package contains extra networking drivers for your Windows host that Oracle VM VirtualBox needs to support Bridged Networking. This enables your VM's virtual network cards to be accessed from other machines on your physical network.
Python support. This package contains Python scripting support for the Oracle VM VirtualBox API, see Chapter 11, Oracle VM VirtualBox Programming Interfaces. For this to work, an already working Windows Python installation on the system is required.
See, for example: http://www.python.org/download/windows/.
Note
Python version at least 2.6 is required. Python 3 is also supported.
Depending on your Windows configuration, you may see warnings about unsigned drivers, or similar. Click Continue for these warnings, as otherwise Oracle VM VirtualBox might not function correctly after installation.
The installer will create an Oracle VM VirtualBox group in the Windows Start menu, which enables you to launch the application and access its documentation.
With standard settings, Oracle VM VirtualBox will be installed for all users on the local system. If this is not wanted, you must invoke the installer by first extracting as follows:
Then, run either of the following commands on the extracted .MSI file. This will install Oracle VM VirtualBox only for the current user.
If you do not want to install all features of Oracle VM VirtualBox, you can set the optional ADDLOCAL parameter to explicitly name the features to be installed. The following features are available:
VBoxApplication
Main binaries of Oracle VM VirtualBox.
Note
This feature must not be absent, since it contains the minimum set of files to have working Oracle VM VirtualBox installation.
VBoxUSB
USB support.
VBoxNetwork
All networking support. This includes the VBoxNetworkFlt and VBoxNetworkAdp features.
VBoxNetworkFlt
Bridged networking support.
VBoxNetworkAdp
Host-only networking support
VBoxPython
Python support
For example, to only install USB support along with the main binaries, run either of the following commands:
The user is able to choose between NDIS5 and NDIS6 host network filter drivers during the installation. This is done using a command line parameter, NETWORKTYPE. The NDIS6 driver is the default for most supported Windows hosts. For some legacy Windows versions, the installer will automatically select the NDIS5 driver and this cannot be changed.
You can force an install of the legacy NDIS5 host network filter driver by specifying NETWORKTYPE=NDIS5. For example, to install the NDIS5 driver on Windows 7 use either of the following commands:
As Oracle VM VirtualBox uses the standard Microsoft Windows installer, Oracle VM VirtualBox can be safely uninstalled at any time. Click the program entry in the Add/Remove Programs list in the Windows Control Panel.
Unattended installations can be performed using the standard MSI support.
Public properties can be specified with the MSI API, to control additional behavior and features of the Windows host installer. Use either of the following commands:
The following public properties are available.
VBOX_INSTALLDESKTOPSHORTCUT
Specifies whether or not an Oracle VM VirtualBox icon on the desktop should be created.
Set to 1 to enable, 0 to disable. Default is 1.
VBOX_INSTALLQUICKLAUNCHSHORTCUT
Specifies whether or not an Oracle VM VirtualBox icon in the Quick Launch Bar should be created.
Set to 1 to enable, 0 to disable. Default is 1.
VBOX_REGISTERFILEEXTENSIONS
Specifies whether or not the file extensions .vbox, .vbox-extpack, .ovf, .ova, .vdi, .vmdk, .vhd and .vdd should be associated with Oracle VM VirtualBox. Files of these types then will be opened with Oracle VM VirtualBox.
Set to 1 to enable, 0 to disable. Default is 1.
VBOX_START
Specifies whether to start Oracle VM VirtualBox right after successful installation.
Set to 1 to enable, 0 to disable. Default is 1.
For Mac OS X hosts, Oracle VM VirtualBox ships in a dmg disk image file. Perform the following steps to install on a Mac OS X host:
Double-click on the dmg file, to mount the contents.
A window opens, prompting you to double-click on the VirtualBox.pkg installer file displayed in that window.
This starts the installer, which enables you to select where to install Oracle VM VirtualBox.
An Oracle VM VirtualBox icon is added to the Applications folder in the Finder.
To uninstall Oracle VM VirtualBox, open the disk image dmg file and double-click on the uninstall icon shown.
To perform a non-interactive installation of Oracle VM VirtualBox you can use the command line version of the installer application.
Mount the dmg disk image file, as described in the installation procedure, or use the following command line:
Open a terminal session and run the following command:
For the various versions of Linux that are supported as host operating systems, see Section 1.4, “Supported Host Operating Systems”.
You may need to install the following packages on your Linux system before starting the installation. Some systems will do this for you automatically when you install Oracle VM VirtualBox.
Qt 5.3.2 or later. Qt 5.6.2 or later is recommended.
SDL 1.2.7 or later. This graphics library is typically called libsdl or similar.
Note
These packages are only required if you want to run the Oracle VM VirtualBox graphical user interfaces. In particular, VirtualBox, the graphical VirtualBox Manager, requires both Qt and SDL. If you only want to run VBoxHeadless, neither Qt nor SDL are required.
In order to run other operating systems in virtual machines alongside your main operating system, Oracle VM VirtualBox needs to integrate very tightly with your system. To do this it installs a driver module called vboxdrv into the system kernel. The kernel is the part of the operating system which controls your processor and physical hardware. Without this kernel module, you can still use the VirtualBox Manager to configure virtual machines, but they will not start.
Network drivers called vboxnetflt and vboxnetadp are also installed. They enable virtual machines to make more use of your computer's network capabilities and are needed for any virtual machine networking beyond the basic NAT mode.
Since distributing driver modules separately from the kernel is not something which Linux supports well, the Oracle VM VirtualBox install process creates the modules on the system where they will be used. This means that you may need to install some software packages from the distribution which are needed for the build process. Required packages may include the following:
GNU compiler (GCC)
GNU Make (make)
Kernel header files
Also ensure that all system updates have been installed and that your system is running the most up-to-date kernel for the distribution.
Note
The running kernel and the kernel header files must be updated to matching versions.
The following list includes some details of the required files for some common distributions. Start by finding the version name of your kernel, using the command uname -r in a terminal. The list assumes that you have not changed too much from the original installation, in particular that you have not installed a different kernel type.
With Debian and Ubuntu-based distributions, you must install the correct version of the linux-headers, usually whichever of linux-headers-generic, linux-headers-amd64, linux-headers-i686 or linux-headers-i686-pae best matches the kernel version name. Also, the linux-kbuild package if it exists. Basic Ubuntu releases should have the correct packages installed by default.
On Fedora, Red Hat, Oracle Linux and many other RPM-based systems, the kernel version sometimes has a code of letters or a word close to the end of the version name. For example 'uek' for the Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel or 'default' or 'desktop' for the standard kernels. In this case, the package name is kernel-uek-devel or equivalent. If there is no such code, it is usually kernel-devel.
On some SUSE and openSUSE Linux versions, you may need to install the kernel-source and kernel-syms packages.
If you suspect that something has gone wrong with module installation, check that your system is set up as described above and try running the following command, as root:
If you are running on a system using UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) Secure Boot, you may need to sign the following kernel modules before you can load them:
vboxdrv
vboxnetadp
vboxnetflt
vboxpci
See your system documentation for details of the kernel module signing process.
Oracle VM VirtualBox is available in a number of package formats native to various common Linux distributions. See Section 1.4, “Supported Host Operating Systems”. In addition, there is an alternative generic installer (.run) which you can use on supported Linux distributions.
2.3.3.1. Installing Oracle VM VirtualBox from a Debian or Ubuntu Package
Download the appropriate package for your distribution. The following example assumes that you are installing to a 64-bit Ubuntu Xenial system. Use dpkg to install the Debian package,as follows:
The installer will also try to build kernel modules suitable for the current running kernel. If the build process is not successful you will be shown a warning and the package will be left unconfigured. Look at /var/log/vbox-install.log to find out why the compilation failed. You may have to install the appropriate Linux kernel headers, see Section 2.3.2, “The Oracle VM VirtualBox Kernel Modules”. After correcting any problems, run the following command:
This will start a second attempt to build the module.
If a suitable kernel module was found in the package or the module was successfully built, the installation script will attempt to load that module. If this fails, please see Section 12.7.1, “Linux Kernel Module Refuses to Load” for further information.
Once Oracle VM VirtualBox has been successfully installed and configured, you can start it by clicking VirtualBox in your Start menu or from the command line. See Section 2.3.5, “Starting Oracle VM VirtualBox on Linux”.
2.3.3.2. Using the Alternative Generic Installer (VirtualBox.run)
The alternative generic installer performs the following steps:
Unpacks the application files to the target directory /opt/VirtualBox/, which cannot be changed.
Builds and installs the Oracle VM VirtualBox kernel modules: vboxdrv, vboxnetflt, and vboxnetadp.
Creates /sbin/rcvboxdrv, an init script to start the Oracle VM VirtualBox kernel module.
Creates a new system group called vboxusers.
Creates symbolic links in /usr/bin to a shell script /opt/VirtualBox/VBox which does some sanity checks and dispatches to the actual executables: VirtualBox, VBoxVRDP, VBoxHeadless and VBoxManage.
Creates /etc/udev/rules.d/60-vboxdrv.rules, a description file for udev, if that is present, which makes the USB devices accessible to all users in the vboxusers group.
Writes the installation directory to /etc/vbox/vbox.cfg.
The installer must be executed as root with either install or uninstall as the first parameter. For example:
Or if you do not have the sudo command available, run the following as root instead:
Add every user who needs to access USB devices from a VirtualBox guests to the group vboxusers. Either use the OS user management tools or run the following command as root:
Note
The usermod command of some older Linux distributions does not support the -a option, which adds the user to the given group without affecting membership of other groups. In this case, find out the current group memberships with the groups command and add all these groups in a comma-separated list to the command line after the -G option. For example: usermod -G group1,group2,vboxusers username.
If you cannot use the shell script installer described in Section 2.3.3.2, “Using the Alternative Generic Installer (VirtualBox.run)”, you can perform a manual installation. Run the installer as follows:
This will unpack all the files needed for installation in the directory install under the current directory. The Oracle VM VirtualBox application files are contained in VirtualBox.tar.bz2 which you can unpack to any directory on your system. For example:
To run the same example as root, use the following commands:
The sources for Oracle VM VirtualBox's kernel module are provided in the src directory. To build the module, change to the directory and use the following command:
If everything builds correctly, run the following command to install the module to the appropriate module directory:
In case you do not have sudo, switch the user account to root and run the following command:
The Oracle VM VirtualBox kernel module needs a device node to operate. The above make command will tell you how to create the device node, depending on your Linux system. The procedure is slightly different for a classical Linux setup with a /dev directory, a system with the now deprecated devfs and a modern Linux system with udev.
On certain Linux distributions, you might experience difficulties building the module. You will have to analyze the error messages from the build system to diagnose the cause of the problems. In general, make sure that the correct Linux kernel sources are used for the build process.
Note that the /dev/vboxdrv kernel module device node must be owned by root:root and must be read/writable only for the user.
Next, you install the system initialization script for the kernel module and activate the initialization script using the right method for your distribution, as follows:
This example assumes you installed Oracle VM VirtualBox to the /opt/VirtualBox directory.
Create a configuration file for Oracle VM VirtualBox, as follows:
Create the following symbolic links:
2.3.3.4. Updating and Uninstalling Oracle VM VirtualBox
Before updating or uninstalling Oracle VM VirtualBox, you must terminate any virtual machines which are currently running and exit the Oracle VM VirtualBox or VBoxSVC applications. To update Oracle VM VirtualBox, simply run the installer of the updated version. To uninstall Oracle VM VirtualBox, run the installer as follows:
As root, you can use the following command:
Josh dawsey twitter. You can uninstall the .run package as follows:
To manually uninstall Oracle VM VirtualBox, perform the manual installation steps in reverse order.
2.3.3.5. Automatic Installation of Debian Packages
The Debian packages will request some user feedback when installed for the first time. The debconf system is used to perform this task. To prevent any user interaction during installation, default values can be defined. A file vboxconf can contain the following debconf settings:
The first line enables compilation of the vboxdrv kernel module if no module was found for the current kernel. The second line enables the package to delete any old vboxdrv kernel modules compiled by previous installations.
These default settings can be applied prior to the installation of the Oracle VM VirtualBox Debian package, as follows:
In addition there are some common configuration options that can be set prior to the installation. See Section 2.3.3.7, “Automatic Installation Options”.
The RPM format does not provide a configuration system comparable to the debconf system. See Section 2.3.3.7, “Automatic Installation Options” for how to set some common installation options provided by Oracle VM VirtualBox.
To configure the installation process for .deb and .rpm packages, you can create a response file named /etc/default/virtualbox. The automatic generation of the udev rule can be prevented with the following setting:
The creation of the group vboxusers can be prevented as follows:
If the following line is specified, the package installer will not try to build the vboxdrv kernel module if no module fitting the current kernel was found.
The Linux installers create the system user group vboxusers during installation. Any system user who is going to use USB devices from Oracle VM VirtualBox guests must be a member of that group. A user can be made a member of the group vboxusers either by using the desktop user and group tools, or with the following command:
The easiest way to start an Oracle VM VirtualBox program is by running the program of your choice (VirtualBox, VBoxManage, or VBoxHeadless) from a terminal. These are symbolic links to VBox.sh that start the required program for you.
The following detailed instructions should only be of interest if you wish to execute Oracle VM VirtualBox without installing it first. You should start by compiling the vboxdrv kernel module and inserting it into the Linux kernel. Oracle VM VirtualBox consists of a service daemon, VBoxSVC, and several application programs. The daemon is automatically started if necessary. All Oracle VM VirtualBox applications will communicate with the daemon through UNIX local domain sockets. There can be multiple daemon instances under different user accounts and applications can only communicate with the daemon running under the user account as the application. The local domain socket resides in a subdirectory of your system's directory for temporary files called .vbox-<username>-ipc. In case of communication problems or server startup problems, you may try to remove this directory.
All Oracle VM VirtualBox applications (VirtualBox, VBoxManage, and VBoxHeadless) require the Oracle VM VirtualBox directory to be in the library path, as follows:
For the specific versions of Oracle Solaris that are supported as host operating systems, see Section 1.4, “Supported Host Operating Systems”.
If you have a previously installed instance of Oracle VM VirtualBox on your Oracle Solaris host, please uninstall it first before installing a new instance. See Section 2.4.4, “Uninstallation” for uninstall instructions.
Oracle VM VirtualBox is available as a standard Oracle Solaris package. Download the Oracle VM VirtualBox SunOS package, which includes the 64-bit version of Oracle VM VirtualBox. The installation must be performed as root and from the global zone. This is because the Oracle VM VirtualBox installer loads kernel drivers, which cannot be done from non-global zones. To verify which zone you are currently in, execute the zonename command.
Install Virtualbox On Windows 10
To start installation, run the following commands:
The Oracle VM VirtualBox kernel package is integrated into the main package. Install the Oracle VM VirtualBox package as follows:
The installer will then prompt you to enter the package you wish to install. Choose 1 or all and proceed. Next the installer will ask you if you want to allow the postinstall script to be executed. Choose y and proceed, as it is essential to execute this script which installs the Oracle VM VirtualBox kernel module. Following this confirmation the installer will install Oracle VM VirtualBox and execute the postinstall setup script.
Once the postinstall script has been executed your installation is now complete. You may now safely delete the uncompressed package and autoresponse files from your system. Oracle VM VirtualBox is installed in /opt/VirtualBox.
Note
Can't Install Virtualbox On Mac
If you need to use Oracle VM VirtualBox from non-global zones, see Section 2.4.6, “Configuring a Zone for Running Oracle VM VirtualBox”.
The installer creates the system user group vboxuser during installation for Oracle Solaris hosts that support the USB features required by Oracle VM VirtualBox. Any system user who is going to use USB devices from Oracle VM VirtualBox guests must be a member of this group. A user can be made a member of this group either by using the desktop user and group tools or by running the following command as root:
Note that adding an active user to the vboxuser group will require the user to log out and then log in again. This should be done manually after successful installation of the package.
2.4.3. Starting Oracle VM VirtualBox on Oracle Solaris
The easiest way to start an Oracle VM VirtualBox program is by running the program of your choice (VirtualBox, VBoxManage, or VBoxHeadless) from a terminal. These are symbolic links to VBox.sh that start the required program for you.
Alternatively, you can directly invoke the required programs from /opt/VirtualBox. Using the links provided is easier as you do not have to enter the full path.
You can configure some elements of the VirtualBox Qt GUI, such as fonts and colours, by running VBoxQtconfig from the terminal.
Uninstallation of Oracle VM VirtualBox on Oracle Solaris requires root permissions. To perform the uninstallation, start a root terminal session and run the following command:
After confirmation, this will remove Oracle VM VirtualBox from your system.
To perform a non-interactive installation of Oracle VM VirtualBox there is a response file named autoresponse. The installer uses this for responses to inputs, rather than prompting the user.
Extract the tar.gz package as described in Section 2.4.1, “Performing the Installation”. Then open a root terminal session and run the following command:
To perform a non-interactive uninstallation, open a root terminal session and run the following command:
2.4.6. Configuring a Zone for Running Oracle VM VirtualBox
Assuming that Oracle VM VirtualBox has already been installed into your zone, you need to give the zone access to Oracle VM VirtualBox's device node. This is done by performing the following steps. Start a root terminal and run the following command:
Replace vboxzone with the name of the zone where you intend to run Oracle VM VirtualBox.
Use zonecfg to add the device resource and match properties to the zone, as follows:
On Oracle Solaris 11 or later, you may also add a device for /dev/vboxusbmon, similar to that shown above.
If you are not using sparse root zones, you will need to loopback mount /opt/VirtualBox from the global zone into the non-global zone at the same path. This is specified below using the dir attribute and the special attribute. For example:
Virtualbox Install Mac Os X
Reboot the zone using zoneadm and you should be able to run Oracle VM VirtualBox from within the configured zone.

Total Slack Means
Total Slack In Project Management
Total Slack Definitions
After a year of privately testing the app, Slack launched publicly in February 2014. It was an instant success, receiving 8,000 requests in the first day and 15,000 by the second week. Slack had to stagger the launch, as it added more server capacity to meet demand. Total Slack Definitions Total slack is is the difference between the calculated earliest finish time of the very last activity and the project's required completion time. Successful Project Management by Jack Gido and James P. Slack is a new way to communicate with your team. It’s faster, better organized, and more secure than email. Slack had around 12 million daily active users as of October 2019. A cloud-based American collaboration hub, Slack has since its 2013 launch expanded their user base significantly.
Total slack is is the difference between the calculated earliest finish time of the very last activity and the project's required completion time.
Successful Project Management by Jack Gido and James P. Clements
Total slack/total float is measured by the amount of time that a schedule activity can be delayed or extended from its early start date without delaying the project finish date or violating a schedule constraint.
A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge by Project Management Institute
Total Slack can be defined as the difference between the latest allowable date and the earliest expected date.
Project Management: A Systems Approach to Planning, Scheduling, and Controlling by Harold Kerzner?
Total Slack Explanation
Sometimes an activity takes more time than the estimated duration. This time must be calculated in order to know if this delaying has any effect on the total project completion time. The difference between the earliest finish time of the last activity of the project and the required project completion time is called total slack. Total slack is also called float. Total slack can be positive or negative. A positive slack shows the maximum amount to time the activity can be delayed without affecting the project completion time. Negative slack time shows the amount of time the activities must be hurried in order to complete the project on time. A zero slack shows that the project will be completed exactly on time and no activity can be postpones or delayed not just even for a little bit.

The NASA Task Load Index (NASA-TLX) is a widely used,(1) subjective, multidimensional assessment tool that rates perceived workload in order to assess a task, system, or team's effectiveness or other aspects of performance. It was developed by the Human Performance Group at NASA's Ames Research Center over a three-year development cycle that included more than 40 laboratory simulations.(2)(3) It has been cited in over 4,400 studies,(4) highlighting the influence the NASA-TLX has had in human factors research. It has been used in a variety of domains, including aviation, healthcare and other complex socio-technical domains.(1)
Scales(edit)
Paper-and-pencil version of the NASA-TLX rating scale
NASA-TLX originally consisted of two parts: the total workload is divided into six subjective subscales that are represented on a single page, serving as one part of the questionnaire:
Mental Demand
Physical Demand
Temporal Demand
Performance
Effort
Frustration
There is a description for each of these subscales that the subject should read before rating. They are rated for each task within a 100-points range with 5-point steps. These ratings are then combined to the task load index. Providing descriptions for each measurement can be found to help participants answer accurately.(5) These descriptions are as follows:
Mental Demand
How much mental and perceptual activity was required? Was the task easy or demanding, simple or complex?
Physical Demand
How much physical activity was required? Was the task easy or demanding, slack or strenuous?
Temporal Demand
How much time pressure did you feel due to the pace at which the tasks or task elements occurred? Was the pace slow or rapid?
Overall Performance
How successful were you in performing the task? How satisfied were you with your performance?
Effort
How hard did you have to work (mentally and physically) to accomplish your level of performance?
Frustration Level
How irritated, stressed, and annoyed versus content, relaxed, and complacent did you feel during the task?
Analysis(edit)
The second part of TLX intends to create an individual weighting of these subscales by letting the subjects compare them pairwise based on their perceived importance. This requires the user to choose which measurement is more relevant to workload. The number of times each is chosen is the weighted score.(6) This is multiplied by the scale score for each dimension and then divided by 15 to get a workload score from 0 to 100, the overall task load index. Many researchers eliminate these pairwise comparisons, though, and refer to the test as 'Raw TLX' then.(7) There has been evidence evaluating and supporting this shortened version over the full one since it might increase experimental validity.(8)
When using the 'raw TLX', individual subscales may be dropped if less relevant to the task.(1)(7)
Administration(edit)
The Official NASA-TLX can be administered using a paper and pencil version, or using the Official NASA TLX for Apple iOS App.(9) There are also numerous unofficial computerized implementations of the NASA TLX. These unofficial versions may collect Personally Identifiable Information (PII), which is a violation of NASA Human Subject Research Guidelines for the Collection of PII(10) as set down by the NASA Independent Review Board (IRB).(11)
Total Slack Means
If a participant is required to answer the TLX questions multiple times, they only need to answer the 15 pairwise comparisons once per task type.(3) If a participant's workload needs to be measured for intrinsically different tasks, then revisiting the pairwise comparisons may be required. In every case, the subject should answer all 6 subjective rating subscales. It is these successive ratings that are then scored using the original pairwise questions as weighting factors, that leads to an understanding of the overall workload change.(2)
While there are multiple ways to administer the NASA-TLX, some may change the results of the test. One study showed that a paper-and-pencil version led to less cognitive workload than processing the information on a computer screen.(12) To overcome the delay in administrating the test, the Official NASA TLX Apple iOS App(9) can be used to capture both the pairwise question answers and a subjects subjective subscale input, as well as calculating the final weighted and unweighted results. A feature found in the Official NASA TLX App is a new computer interface response rating scale, termed a Subjective Analogue Equivalent Rating (SAER) scale, that provides the closest possible user experience to that found in the paper and pencil version of NASA TLX. No other computerized version of the NASA TLX has successfully implemented this critical element for properly capturing a user subjective input.(citation needed) This can be seen in many unofficial computerized (both web and software application) versions that use an anchored or locking scale. This defeats the subjective purpose of the original paper and pencil implementation of the NASA TLX.

Install Mac Os Virtualbox
The VirtualBox installer is a standard MSI install file. It's not VirtualBox that fails at this point, it's your Windows installer. Check to see if you have any corrupted MSI database files: Repair MSI (Windows Installer) 2.8.8. Windows Repair 4.0.0 (includes the above). Open up VirtualBox and right-click on your OS X virtual machine in the left sidebar. Head back to its Settings and go to the Storage section. Once again, click on the disc icon on the right side of.
Oracle VM VirtualBox is a virtualization software that helps you to install different types of supported guest operating systems on your Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and Solaris host machines. There are other virtualization software, like VMware, Parallels Desktop (for Mac OSX), Microsoft Hyper-V (Windows), KVM (Linux) etc. that serve the same purpose. In this tutorial, we have used Oracle VM VirtualBox to install RHEL 6.6 on MAC OS X 10.11, El Capitan. As VirtualBox can be installed on Windows, Linux or Solaris machines too, the steps to install RHEL virtually on these host Operating Systems will be exactly similar as shown below.
Once the disk image has downloaded, locate it on your Mac, mount it and double-click the VirtualBox.pkg file to install the application. You’ll need 175MB of free space on your computer to. By using VirtualBox, you can install Windows on your Mac. This enables you to run Windows-only applications on your Mac. Here are the main steps involved in installing Windows on a Mac: Download and Install VirtualBox. Download Windows 10 from the OnTheHub University of Arizona web store. Download and install VirtualBox. The VirtualBox software that allows for the creation of a virtual machine (VM) on a mac. Create a new Windows 10 VM using VirtualBox. Install Office 365 on the Windows 10 VM. Office 365 includes applications like Access, Excel and Word.
Install Windows 10 On Mac Using Virtualbox
Steps to create a Virtual Machine to install RHEL 6.6
1. Launch VirtualBox and click on New in top pane to create a new Virtual Machine.
2. Now give a name to the Virtual Machine that you are creating. As we are going to install 64-bit RHEL, choose Type as Linux and Version as Red Hat (64-bit) from the drop-downs.
3. Choose the Memory Size (RAM) that you want to assign to this Virtual Machine. For RHEL recommended RAM size is 768MB. But if you want to install Oracle 11g Database on RHEL, assign at least 1GB RAM to your VM.
4. Now in Hard Disk section select Create virtual hard disk now.
5. Choose Hard disk file type. If you don’t want to use this virtual hard disk image with any other virtualisation software, proceed with the default selection, i.e, VDI
6. In Storage on physical hard disk selection window choose Dynamically allocated option. It will not immediately consume all the space that you allocate to the virtual machine during creation rather it will keep occupying the space from the hard disk as it fills up and it keeps increasing until it reaches the max allocated size that you defined during the VM creation. But if you have enough disk space in your host machine then you may choose Fixed Size option. It could be little faster during higher disk write operations by the guest OS, as space is already allocated.
7. Now choose the Folder or Mount Point where you want to create VM’s virtual hard disk file. Also choose the size of the virtual hard disk. We have allocated 20GB for this. If in previous step you have chosen Fixed Size, it will consume/block 20GB immediately during your VM creation. If you have chosen Dynamically allocated option then VM will be created with a minimum required size of virtual hard disk allocation and this 20GB will be considered as the max allocated size. Now click on Create button.
You Virtual Machine will be created in some seconds. If you have selected Fixed Size option in step 6, it may take a little longer.
Load and Validate RHEL 6.6 .iso disk image before installation
8. Choose the newly created virtual machine (here it’s techentice) , right click on it and select Start -> Normal Start. A pop up will appear, browse and choose the RHEL .iso image file
9. RHEL 6.6 option screen will appear. Click on Install system with basic video driver option to start installing it.
10. Now, before installation, check whether your disk media (.iso) is Okay and not corrupted. Click on Ok and followed by Test to start the media test.
11. You can see that image has been verified successfully. Click on Ok.
12. Now, you will see that the inserted disk has been ejected. Press Ok.
13. Before proceeding further go to Storage option of VM and select the RHEL .iso file to load it to the optical drive.
14. Now go back to the RHEL installation window and click Continue to start installing RHEL from the disk image.
Steps to install RHEL 6.6
15. RHEL installation window will appear click on Next.
16. Select Language and Keyboard, then select Basic Storage Device. Then in next window you may select Yes, discard any data as you are fresh installing RHEL.
17. Now, Select a hostname and choose choose city, check System clock uses UTC option to choose GMT/UTC as your system time.
18. Select your root password and press next.
19. Choose the default option i.e., Replace Existing Linux Systems as the type of installation and click on Next. You will get a popup, click on Write changes to disk.
20. Now, you may choose the default installation or any other installation type as per your requirement. We want to use it as a Oracle database server, so we have chosen Database Server option here. If you want to install additional repositories like High Availability, Load Balancer, Resilient Storage etc. you may check these option. Once done click on Next to start the installation process.
21. Wait for some time. Once Installation gets completed, you will get below screen. Click on Reboot.
22. After reboot, logon prompt will appear, logon as root user. That’s it.
Installing Windows on Mac OS using VirtualBox0
VirtualBox is an ultimate emulator, capable to emulate any operational system in virtual mode and any software, which is runnable on that specific OS. In VirtualBox you receive all the standard working features, that are applicable to the environment, including shared folders, USB-handlers, drag-n-drop mechanism, network connection with the external network card and virtual hardware, the ability to copy file objects from host to guest OS and vice versa, etc. VirtualBox supports almost any contemporary systems, including FreeBSD, Solaris, Linux, Windows and, of course, Mac OS. In this article I’m going to describe, how to install Windows on Mac OS using VirtualBox.
On the first iteration you will have to download the VirtualBox distributive from the official web-site https://www.virtualbox.org/, applicable to the Mac OS environment, and install it onto the hard drive. In order to do this, you will to switch to the “Downloads” page and select an archive, appropriate for the Mac OS system. When the installation archive is downloaded, run it.
In order to start the setting up process of VirtualBox virtual machine on Mac OS, open VirtualBox app and click the New button, so that the new virtual machine is created.
From now the VM wizard starts, which will accompany you through all the stages of virtual machine generation. The wizard will ask you to input the name of the VM instance, disk size, memory size and OS type.
On the first stage you will be asked for the name of virtual machine and OS type. The name can be absolutely random, think over something bright and special. As far as we are going to emulate Windows OS in our virtual environment, in the “Operating system” field choose “Microsoft Windows” value. The version is specified depending on your desire and preferences. In my case I choose Windows 7 version, you specify the one, which you need.
Install Windows On Mac Using Virtualbox
On the next stage the wizard prompts you to specify the amount of RAM, dedicated for the emulated VM. As this space will be used exceptionally on the virtual environment purposes, leave this value set by default.

If you still have not created a virtual disk for emulated system, the wizard will suggest you to create one. In order to do this, click the New button. After that you will have define, whether you require a fixed or dynamic type of disk, its name and size. For each of these options a specific form is designed, so all the operations are performed sequentially, step-by-step.
Proceed with the wizard instructions further and at last the new virtual machine would be created. Now the time has come to pick the Windows OS CD/DVD and to configure it in the system. On the start, choose Settings option.
Install Windows 10 On Mac Using Virtualbox
In the Storage category switch to the CD/DVD-ROM tab. If you have a physical CD/DVD disk and an optical device for reading the data from it, choose the Host CD/DVD Drive in the Mount CD/DVD Drive section and click the OK button. If you possess the ISO-file with virtual image of the OS, select the ISO Image File option instead.
After the settings of the optical disk are completed, click on the new virtual machine pictogram in order to initialize the virtual machine and the Windows installation process. The routine of Windows installation does not differ from ordinary setting procedure on your PC. Follow the displayed instructions and soon the Windows OS will be installed.
Install Mac Os Virtualbox
Basically, the interface of VirtualBox on Mac OS is similar to the Windows design, the difference is based on Aqua graphical theme only, which is applicable to all the Mac OS program tools. Try setting up VirtualBox on Mac OS and you won’t be frustrated, that’s for sure.
