First, the pervasiveness of this litter box thing is ridiculous. I think it has been debunked like a thousand times.
And the *actual* reason schools have cat litter has nothing to do with students identifying as cats.
"Columbine High School has been stocking classrooms with small amounts of cat litter since 2017, but as part of ‘go buckets’ that contain emergency supplies in case students are locked in a classroom during a shooting."
But I actually want to talk about the Tootsie Roll Pop gender thing.
They are trying to criticize a child psychologist, Dr. Diane Ehrensaft, who works at a gender clinic.
I'm sure a lot of their audience who see "gender minotaur" or "gender Tootsie Roll Pops" will completely write off this woman and claim she is a nutcase.
But conservatives and Fox News love to omit context and nuance.
Here is the document all of this stemmed from...
The implied Fox narrative is that Dr. Ehrensaft is creating silly genders and then labeling kids as minotaurs or smoothies.
In reality, she is describing all of the creative ways young kids and teens use to explain how they feel about their gender.
These kids probably don't have a lot of information or the vocabulary to express themselves in more traditional terms, so they've come up with analogies to help adults understand what they are feeling.
That doesn't seem ridiculous at all.
And I actually think these kids are quite clever.
So these conservatives are basically making fun of kids who are confused and seeking help to understand themselves.
Real classy.
And if these kids learn adults are making fun of them, they may feel embarrassed to use these communicative tools—making it that much harder for their therapists and doctors to help them.

every time I see a long text post of the same phrase repeated over and over and it gets cut off by the Read More button, in my brain it always sounds like someone's scream being abruptly cut off.

The US is deeply segregated not only along racial lines, but along class lines as well: from housing to schools to healthcare, many of our major institutions are designed to allow rich people to keep poor people as far away from them as possible.
Where do rich and poor people interact with one another? If I'm reading this study right, it's restaurants. Which restaurants? They find that some of the most cross-class locations in the country are cheap full-service restaurants: "Olive Garden, Applebee’s, Chili’s and IHOP."
The more I think about this finding the more it makes sense. Places like Olive Garden are some of the only locations in US society which are simultaneously "nice" enough to draw in high-income diners and cheap enough to attract low-income diners. Rich people go to, say, Outback Steakhouse because they see it as a cheap and easy meal that's better than fast food, poor people go because it's one of the closest things to a nice steakhouse you can eat at without dropping $100+ per person.
Other cross-class locations: churches, libraries, credit unions, alcohol stores, the DMV. Locations which worsen class segregation: golf courses and country clubs, bars, museums.

there have been too many nights I have not survived.
parts of my soul are totally dead,
entombed under my high school.
the pieces rot like memories, fogging my function,
they rot like I did in that third bedroom in my first home.
all the walls were pink,
and I eroded at the edges until I became iridescent like a butterfly.
so now I get high to smoke out the ghosts of my past lives,
blowing them out of my lungs like I do to proportions.
I light incense and pray to anyone who will listen.
but my religion is an addiction, cuz I’m faithful to the high
like I’ve never been to any god.
six years of service to the cause of my conscience,
and I still can’t be honest.
I feel like a Martian, like a new incarnation of a monster,
cuz lately I’ve been seeing visions no one else does.
spending time in my mind’s eye,
watching reruns of my past decisions projected like my emotions,
and I’m thinking in over half or so I was the villain.
I don’t know who to blame,
and I don’t know who was really the victim.
I can say I did my best with the tools I was given
and I’m trying not to hate myself for things I cannot fix.
there are holes inside my heart that I can fit my fist through.
but we were really just kids,
and that’s as real as shit gets.
I know the knife in my spine matches the one in your mind.
I’m not trying to be blunt,
but I’ve fucked a lot of people who I am not in love with.
and I’ve smoked a lot of blunts,
daydreaming about the day I feel like I’m enough.
I can’t hold a grudge, that’s not where I’m at mentally,
so I’ll hold you close inside my darkest dreams
and love you back endlessly.

"You exist as a man in this world and have to be held accountable for that" lol, no I don't. I literally don't have to do that. I will actually live and thrive unapologetically. Die mad about it.
