I’m like…99% sure this guy is Actually Blind.

Reia always has his eyes shut, every single time you ever see him. Onscreen, on cards, in-game, he never opens them even a little bit.

A recurring point has been made in Ina11 that Blind Soccer is an actual thing, blind people can play sakka just fine, and sighted characters have even intentionally closed their eyes during a match and operated solely on their other senses – very effectively – when their vision was either distracting them or being deceived.

I just assumed that was what Reia was doing too, he’s supposed to be one of those Calm Serene Types so I figured it was just the Voluntary Focus Boost Thing, but his eyes always stay shut even when he’s off the field. So now I’m thinking they maybe just don’t work, so there’s no reason to ever open them.

…And he is a member of Seidouzan. Initially thought to be the strongest, endgame team of s1 GO [until Daigo finally let his Top-Secret Team Of Communist Super Soldiers out of the basement to wreak havoc upon the capitalists, at which point Kurosaki’s team got fired].

So, whether it’s voluntary or not, Reia is an incredibly adept member of a terrifyingly powerful team without the use of his eyesight. That’s pretty fucking badass. You go, little blind dude.

It makes me ludicrously happy that Aphrodi is one of the few characters in the entire Sakka Multiverse franchise who actually realizes there is nothing stopping him from using his hissatsu techniques outside of the soccer field. VERY few other people ever make that connection. [Which is probably for the benefit of public safety as a whole. Look what happened when Second Stage Children started existing. And then got pissed off.]

And Aphrodi’s Sakka Magic is fucking useful as shit. It’s perfect for wreaking havoc upon Everyday Mundane Life. He can sprout 2-6 full-sized wings and just fucking fly, and he can literally stop time*. And, of all people, THIS is one of the few to whom it has occurred that he can just do this shit whenever he pleases. God, he’s gotta be absolute chaos to live with. That’s incredible.

I haven’t played the games [yet], but apparently [according to the wiki], at some point he stops time in the car. The car. Well, the bus, actually, which is worse! Bus Contains More People Than Simple Car! I am DYING to know how the fuck he managed to get away with that without causing a traffic accident from hell. Why the fuck did he stop time in the goddamn bus in the first place. Was he just changing the radio station or something. Was he trying to swat a fly. Were we all under attack by fake aliens again. Why’d he do that. I would not want to go on a road trip with Aphrodi.
