I was a hater for a while, but I've done a complete 180. CrossFit [Elements, not as hardcore as regular CrossFit] is awesome!

All hail the queen of gift cards and sales! I stretched this $50 gift card by waiting for a factory sale and ordering from the store to save on shipping, and got three beautiful items (including jewelry!), and only going over by $.49. Merry Christmas to me!

The Providence Athenaeum. We spent the morning in a beautiful, old library with original handwritten catalog cards from the 19th century.

Enough remixes! On the opposite end of the spectrum is this beautiful Austrian Christmas carol SLASH LULLABY. I heard this for the first time at a Christmas concert with a full orchestra and choir, and it brought me to tears. I love how it captures the sacredness of that night.
Translated lyrics:
Still, still, still,  One can hear the falling snow.  For all is hushed,  The world is sleeping,  Holy Star its vigil keeping.  Still, still, still,  One can hear the falling snow.  Sleep, sleep, sleep,  'Tis the eve of our Saviour's birth.  The night is peaceful all around you,  Close your eyes,  Let sleep surround you.  Sleep, sleep, sleep,  'Tis the eve of our Saviour's birth.  Dream, dream, dream,  Of the joyous day to come.  While guardian angels without number,  Watch you as you sweetly slumber.  Dream, dream, dream,  Of the joyous day to come.

Time for Christmas remixes! To be honest, I'd never heard of the original versions, only the remixes from the excellent remix albums Merry Mixmas and Christmas Remixed. So here's my favorite from the two albums: Kay Starr's "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm."

2nd happiest Christmas song in all of creation! Christmas is really coming! I'm thinking about a tiny rosemary bush as a tree this year. How about you?

Dad (text message, 6am): Hi Ina, How are you doing? Let me know your blood type. Me: Hi, Appa! I'm AB+. Back to sleep. Me (on the phone, 3pm): Appa, why did you ask for my blood type? Is everything okay? Dad: Oh yes. Everything is fine. I was just -- curious! Me: Oh, okay! Dad: You know about AB? They say that people who are AB are creative! And have potential to be genius! ...You gonna be creative genius!

I found a Christmas single by my new musical obsession, The Civil Wars, so I had no choice but to buy it. Haunting harmonies. Great song.

The children's author Maurice Sendak said that one of the highest compliments he's ever received came from the mother of a little boy who had written to Sendak, and received an original drawing in return. The little boy loved it so much that he ate it. "He didn't care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it."
