Contempt

Never let a man who looks at you with contempt tell you who you are. You are deserving of so much more. Never let a man who looks at you with contempt tell you that you are giving useless excuses - or that you are even manipulating him.  Don’t let him tell you to “chill out” and for a second and “just listen”, when he feels your in the wrong. You are deserving of so much more. Never let a man make you into a “joke” simply because you try to be yourself. You are deserving of so much more. Never allow a man to tell you to stop crying, especially when you are crying because of him. You are deserving of so much more. Never let a man with an out of control temper close enough that he may take said anger out on you. You are deserving of so much more. Most importantly, never allow a man like this into your life from the start - his excuses, promises, and apologies are empty. Never blame yourself if you do. I wish I had known this before I let it happen.  But at least I can prevent it from happening to others, prevent them from feeling the same pain.

Bringing the Vacation to a Close

An Unexpected Connection

Well today I stumbled upon someone rather unexpectedly. While getting my ritual Starbucks coffee, I accidentally ran into (yes, full speed, body slamming ran into) Kris, an old friend of mine from middle school. I could honestly couldn't believe it. I mean I know we went to the same high school after, but we never had any classes or anything together. Anyways, we sat down together and caught up and it turns out we are actually going to the same college! What are the chances! After the hours went by he needed to get going and so did I, but he asked for my number so we might be able to meet up again sometime (preferably not by body slamming one another again lol). I know it was only a few hours of talking but man, we really connected again. I honestly forgot how much I missed him. He's such a funny and, frankly, attractive guy. I just can't seem to get him off my mind now. Well I guess I'll just have to wait and see where things go from here. Until next time! ~Maddie

Reflections

Today was probably one of the toughest I’ve had yet.  About half way through the day, my long time best friend called me unexpectedly and told me some crushing news. Her and who I thought was an amazing boy friend (literally thought he was goals) ended things because he just couldn’t keep it in his pants.  She was nothing but loyal to him, but he still chooses to go behind her back and sleep with another woman.  And the funny thing is, he had been worried that she would do just that, because shes an amazing woman who knows just how truly gorgeous she is.  Of, having been through quite a few nasty break ups myself, i knew just what she needed: a pint of super chocolate-y ice cream and a night filled with cheesy chic flicks.  Its not a perfect cure, but it certainly helps get the mind off of the current pain.  

But like I said before, I used to think of this guy as a god.  He treated her so well and seemed to always be there for her.  This only makes me wonder now how its possible to truly know who loves you? And how you know who to put your trust in? I’ve had many different relationships but never this serious, and honestly it worries me that some day I might think I find the one I love only to watch them turn me away in the blink of an eye.
