the red flag pod did an interview with james hinchcliffe and he praises max a bunch of times (it's on their youtube channel and podcast if anyone's interested. their episode on brazil 2024 is also great and full of max praise)

near the beginning he says that he thinks it's not even a question that max is better than kyle larson and that he'd beat him. specifically if max and kyle competed in 5 categories that represented the different types of motorsports well (so not just the cars that kyle or max drive), that he thinks max would absolutely win 4/5

at 46:19 the hosts talk about how they think max plays up the villain persona but is actually nice. and james immediately corrects them and says max is a "sweetheart" and "one of the nicest guys in the paddock"

at 1:07:47 when asked about who he'd bet money on for next season, james says he doesn't know how you bet against max. "he still operates at a level that's so much higher than everybody else. lando is ready as long as the car is competitive every weekend. what's so impressive about max is that even when the car is not the best, he's pulling home a 3rd, 4th when other guys are 7th, 8th"
