Maybe it was against the hunter code. He was pretty sure sitting there and talking to her rather than putting something that could kill her through her heart was against the hunter code. But things had gotten weird. Weirder than weird, so maybe the hunter code went out the window for a while.
He took the glass from her and swirled it around a little. It had an amber color that the cheap crap lacked. Sometimes the stuff he drank was cloudy and he really didn't want to think why that was. But this was crystal clear. He took a sip of it. The whiskey was smooth and lacked the burn he had grown so used to.
"So the Mother of Demons drinks whiskey."
"Besides the obvious," Lilith repeated in confirmation, her expression devilishly knowing. It was unsurprising that his mind instinctively went there; most men did. That wasn't to say Lilith didn't enjoy those pleasures herself, the freedom of those passions that had been denied her in the garden, but she wasn't ruled by them. No woman really was, not in the same way men were.
"A pleasure I can understand," she told him, cocking her head in interest as he spoke of whiskey, presumably of the variety usually out of a Winchester price range. There was a supernatural shift in the air, reality bending to her will, and a cut-crystal glass appeared before him, filled with a dram of Glenmorangie. A matching glass appeared beside herself, and she paused as she brought it to her lips.
"Unless, of course, drinking with the Mother of Demons is against your...Hunter code," she added, half in mockery and half in challenge.

"Nah, you know me," Dean chuckled a little as he helped her gather up everything that had his blood on it and tossed it into the can for her. She may have cleaned him up, but he knew vampire venom was always a risk and she had risked enough. "Pie and beer are always enough to keep me happy." He liked to think he was an easy house guest. "So have any other hunters stop by recently?" he asked curiously as he looked around. He knew her place was a common stop for his father when he was in the area -- get whatever vehicle he was driving patched up and get a good night's sleep in a place that wasn't a roach filled motel. It was how he had met her. But he wasn't going to out right ask if his father had stopped by.
"yes, that is a perfect way of explaining it." she replied as she got up from her chair. She was glad that the injury wasn't as bad as she thought it would be. She knew that hunts didn't often go well which is why she tried to keep as much medical supplies on hand as possible. she tried to be helpful as much as possible to all hunters out there. She chuckled, blushing a bit. "Thanks, Dean. I'm just trying to make sure you feel home here. Let me check the room real fast and then I'll start dinner. Any special requests? Aside from the pie."

Dean took a deep breath and thought about her words for a long moment. "It wouldn't be the first time a fan came after me. They're easy fodder for vamps." It was mainly vamps that used them --- Twilight made vampires even more popular than they had already been. Only instead of people dressing up like them every Halloween, now people wanted to bang them and become sparkly fairy things. It was always a shock to them when they ended up bled dry in an alley somewhere. Plus the vamps knew Dean would do everything not to kill the human sent his way.
"Well, he was definitely human," Dean nodded his head. "Or a wolf or something. Something that can take human form and hold it." It was possible she was just collateral damage. "So what now? We make a list of everything that can hold a human form? Sounds.....fun?"
Sara very pointedly nudged her beer in his direction before shaking her head, “Only one problem with that logic: I’m not anti-metahuman. In fact, I work with metahumans. I’ve only fought metahumans who hurt or kill, just like I would anyone else. So if this is, for example, a fan of vampires who’s pissed at you, then again I was just supposed to be collateral damage. But if he didn’t have any particular abilities, why would he take you on? Why would he even think he’d stand a chance, and why you in particular? Plenty of other hunters in the world. As for me... My other identity is a secret, and the one currently sitting across from you is legally dead. So it’s looking more and more like you’re the problem, and I just got caught in the crossfire. Got a good gun out of it, although not really my go-to weapon...”
#birdonawiresara#&& verse: dad's on a hunting trip#my entire blog is acting weird -- i have no idea which is the current response#i hope it is this one#if it is not could you please link me the current one

"TELL ME WHAT'S GOING ON" PROMPTS * assorted dialogue for demanding answers, adjust as necessary
say it again, slower this time.
i don't have much time to explain, but i'll try.
you need to tell me what's going on.
i can't help you if i don't know what's happening.
you said something earlier, but i think i missed it.
i'm not hiding anything. i'm just trying to protect you.
what were you trying to say to me?
there must be more to the story than this.
you're not telling me the full story. you're leaving things out.
why do you have to be so secretive about this?
i wish i could tell you the truth. i really do.
why can't we discuss this now?
what's preventing you from telling me the truth?
you know what happened, yet you're just going to keep it from me.
don't i have a right to know?
i'll never forgive you if you keep this from me.
you're just going to have to find out for yourself.
don't leave me in the dark.
since you don't want to tell me, you leave me no choice.
i want you to talk to me, tell me what happened.
i don't like it when you're evasive.
you're hiding something.
all right, i'll tell you what i know.
you have to promise to take this with a grain of salt.
if i could tell you the truth, i would.
some things are better left unsaid.
you wouldn't believe me if i told you.
i don't know the truth.
i can't remember what they told me.
the last time i tried to explain it, you laughed in my face.
there's no getting through to you, is there?
tell me what's happening. tell me what's going on.
i can't do anything without your information.
you're the only one who knows how to fix this.
there's always something more, isn't there?
what else did they tell you?
what did they whisper to you when you were leaving?
you're keeping something from me.
you've never been a good liar.
look into my eyes and tell me the truth.
i wish you would just be honest with me.
something happened, and i'm going to get to the bottom of it.
if you won't tell me, i'll find someone who will.
that doesn't help me, you know.
you could try to be a little more helpful.
you never answered my question.
were you ever going to tell me the truth?
i'd like you to be honest for once in your life.
if you really loved me, you'd tell me what happened.
i won't judge you. i just need to know what happened.
just let me warn you... you're not going to like what you hear.

"Like kicking a wasp nest," Dean agreed as he rolled his arm a little. He had a few more injuries but those would heal with time and rest --a beer or two. His arm had definitely been the worst. Bastard had got the jump on him. Dean had just been lucky the spike had gone through his arm and not his heart. He'd have real problems then.
The thought of pie made him grin as he rolled his sleeve down and picked up his jacket. "You're the best, Aiden. You really are."
"Ugh, I hate vamps. You never truly know how many you're running into sometimes." She had only dealt with a handle of vampire nests. Most of the time she had someone with her. "That can definitely explain why you got injured then. Newborns are definitely the worst to deal with when it comes to vamps." Their blood lust was too much for them at times. Aiden finished up the stitching, making sure it was good. "There you go. All done." She started to put away her first aid kit, giving him a smile. "I'll be sure to set up the guest room then. You can wash up while I make dinner. When you called, I went ahead and made a pie for you. Figured that also is a good cure for an injury like this."

That wasn't fair. But he knew that she knew it wasn't fair. "You don't need to learn about this stuff," Dean shook his head. If he had his way, none of them would know about it. He couldn't blame his dad for wanting to hunt down the thing that killed their mom, but he could have kept his mouth shut. "You need to be a normal girl that's staying with her Uncle Bobby. Read some shit if you really want to know things. You're still a kid Delaney."
⸻ "WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO REALIZE I'M NOT A BABY ANYMORE, DEE?" delaney asked, her shoulders deflating slightly and an exasperated huff leaving her lips. he'd always been the more protective one out of him, camden and sam. but delaney knew how to soften her eldest brother, knew the right buttons to push to get him to bend. sometimes, at least. it worked, like . . . ninety-five percent of the time. she tucked a piece of hair behind her ear and pouted at him. "how am i supposed to learn more about this . . . hunting stuff or my abilities if i don't go out and help you, sam and camden?"

Normally he said no. He worked alone. Having a partner was how people got hurt. "Might not be a bad idea," he said honestly. The ones with kids sucked. They were never the same after. You could convince the parents that it was some weird illness or asbestos in the attic but the kid always knew. There was no convincing a kid that the voice in their head was because they breathed in a chemical from the 70s. "You're better with kids than I am."
“No, they don’t, but you’re still going to need that money as much as I do,” Cara pointed out, “Food, gas, motel rooms, weapons upkeep. We both know it adds up fast, and we’re getting by with next to nothing.” Running credit card scams or - in his case - winning at pool, something she wasn’t skilled at. He then explained that he was taking a break, currently fighting a poltergeist. A poltergeist that had attached itself to a child. It made her briefly drop her gaze; none of their cases were easy, but the ones with children always felt worse. She then looked back up at him, offering, “Do you want some backup?”

"No I didn't Sara. In fact, I made sure to make a really big mess before I grabbed our next round," Dean rolled his eyes. Really? That was the part she was focused on? Sometimes her priorities were weird. But he had to admit, she had a good point. The quickest way to piss any guy off was to knee him in the balls, didn't matter if he was a monster or not. No one liked that. "Maybe he's a sympathizer. Vamps have all sorts of fans and that Flash kid has his own convention at this point."
“Okay first of all, I’m really hoping that you washed your hands between that and getting your beer,” Sara replied with a look of exasperation on her face. “And second, it’s still not adding up. If he’s from the supernatural world, why use a gun? Why not use - whatever other abilities he has? And if he’s a metahuman, same thing. Whether he’s still trying to get control of his powers or not, you’d think they’d be more reliable than a gun. And if they aren’t, why attack two people - at least one of which you presumably know - both of whom can easily disarm you?” She paused before adding, “I kneed him in the balls, Dean; if that doesn’t bring out the monster or the metahuman in you, I don’t know what will.”

"You can find a lot worse things then maggots in a grave," Dean snorted and shook his head. Personally, he found the thing the maggots were eating worse. Most of the time it was just a skeleton or dried out --- a long dead dude that should have gone somewhere else a long time ago. They probably had a bonnet. But sometimes they got unlucky and the body was fresh -- juicy.
A deep sigh left him as his shovel hit solid and he tossed it aside so he could start uncovering the coffin. It was wooden and looked like something out of a cartoon or horror movie. Chances were it was a skeleton they were dealing with. A positive. "Really dude? Now? Hold it and hand me that bag over there."
The shovel slammed down on the clasp of the coffin and he grunted as he lifted the lid and revealed .......
nothing
"Fuck..."
@freakarus
@improudofyousammy
Eddie, The Freak, the local devil worshipper if the people of the small town of Hawkins had anything to say about it. Tall, weird, looks means and scary and yeah, he draws the line at maggots. "I don't fuck with worms, man." Any worm, not just maggots. "I mean, they're technically larvae." One thing about Eddie was that he was full of useless information. Not textbook smart if his grades had anything to say about it but full of information nonetheless. He lacked the attention span to pay attention in class and he got tired doing tests. Didn't mean he was stupid though. School just wasn't for everyone. He was the polar opposited of Sam so Dean's train of thought was right - why the fuck did Sam hang around with him.
Hearing the point of the shovel hit something hard, Eddie nearly jumped out of his skin because he hadn't been expecting it. "Oh fuck." They were here. The moment they had been waiting for. Well, the moment Dean had been waiting for and Eddie had been dreading. "Do you have to open it?" The casket, he means. "Am I gonna see a rotting corpse?!" He shouted in a stereotypical Eddie outburst. Hopefully the groundkeeper wasn't close enough to hear him. "I have to take a piss." Because now this felt like a game of hide and seek and he always had to pee when he was hiding. Horrible timing for his bladder.
