You show up for your first day at Copyright-Free Magic School. As you're going through orientation, you're informed that all new students get a school-assigned familiar that they are responsible for housing and maintaining. The staff member assures you that your assigned familiar is appropriately chosen and reflects you in some way.
Spin this to find out yours. (Remember, you are responsible for maintaining this familiar in your dorm room.)

In the Wyoming case, the women and nonprofits who challenged the laws argued that the bans stood to harm their health, wellbeing and livelihoods – claims disputed by attorneys for the state. They also argued the bans violated a 2012 state constitutional amendment saying competent Wyoming residents have a right to make their own health care decisions. As she had done with previous rulings, Owens found merit in both of these arguments. The abortion bans “will undermine the integrity of the medical profession by hamstringing the ability of physicians to provide evidence-based medicine to their patients”, Owens ruled. The abortion laws impede the fundamental right of women to make health care decisions for an entire class of people – those who are pregnant – in violation of the constitutional amendment, Owens ruled. Wyoming voters approved the amendment amid fears of government overreach after approval of the federal Affordable Care Act and its initial requirements for people to have health insurance. Attorneys for the state argued that health care, under the amendment, did not include abortion. The Republican governor, Mark Gordon, who signed the abortion laws into effect in 2022 and 2023, did not immediately return an email from the Associated Press on Monday seeking comment.

HR 9495 is going back up for voting. All non-profit orgs are in danger.
The Committee on Rules is meeting at 1600 EST on 18 Nov 2024. The agenda includes HR 9495.
If this bill passes, the Secretary of the Treasury would have the power to strip any non-profit group of it's tax-exempt status with no due process.
If you are part of the fandom community and you are in America, please contact your reps and ask them to vote NO on HR 9495.

I need a huge hug and for someone to tell me it will be ok.
But most importantly, I somehow need to believe that.
#the anxiety is so real right now#and nothings helping#not my normal distressers#not my breathing exercises#maybe it's time to be delulu#or learn how#but I've never been good at that#I've always just been a high functioning anxious wreck#but goddamn do I feel like I'm on the brink of a mental breakdown#it's the upcoming government#it's the fear of losing my rights#it's the fear of deportation#its the lack of a job#its my fear of flying#it's my fear of leaving my pets in someone else's care#its the insomnia#its just so much had piled on me this last month and I just feel like I'm drowning
