The anime is an adaption of the series that is mostly based off of the idolmaster 2. It's best to think of them as two separate universes (I believe the games are more "canon", because they came first, though). Hopefully this helps!

i can’t speak for the first game since I didn’t play it, but didn’t chihaya deal with her brother’s death in the anime? and then she dealt with it in idolmaster 2 with her fancy special song? are these both not concurrently canon? are they separate timelines? are these idols trapped & doomed to feel their fears and sorrow over and over again

Weekly headcanon post, #6 (and final)

Okay, today starts the sixth, and final, headcanon submission corner. (Offline obligations are taking precedence over this, but I will still be able to help out on the blog.) During these, I make a post with a topic for the week, post submissions and repost them at week's end.

I dont have very many headcanons but heres a few from me:

Iori, Yayoi, Ami, Sachiko are transgirls, Chihaya, Takane, Koume, Yukimi are agender, Makoto, Saki and Togo Ai are x-gender.

Iseya Shiki is polyamorous w/ everyone in HxJ. Cafe Parade is also a big poly family. Canon measurements be damned, I like to think of Haruka, Azusa, Takane and Ritsuko as being on the chubby side. Wakazato Haruna is book dumb with not much common sense but is very in tune with peoples feelings and among the first to recognize when someone is having a bad day. Jun harbors a forcefeeding fetish. Kanon is not a human being at all, he is a sentient mound of sunshine and cotton candy. Xenoglossia was just like another one of the Namassuka movies, except with different actors.

And a fairly simple Hokuto headcanon from jackiethejupiterectioner -

Hokuto Ijuuin is a really popular guy ever since he started high school. He was like a role model. Every girl loved him so much. So that’s how he decides to become an idol!

I'll share a personal headcanon I have about this week's topic: Noa Takamine and Takane Shijou are related. Takane's mother, we're told, died when Takane was young. Noa's known to have a fondness for tech and has many similar traits to Takane. Takane's notorious for keeping things secret; Noa could actually be Takane's mother, bouncing around time. (Yes, most of my headcanons relate to Takane, but Takane, I find, is easy to headcanon because one knows little about her.)

I'll share a personal headcanon I have about this week's topic:

Touma's father became injured and unable to contribute to the household prior to his son's gaining fame as an idol. This is why Touma has his attitude and takes idoling as seriously as he does - he's the sole breadwinner of the household, and if he didn't take his idoling career seriously, they would have trouble staying at home. He's probably not only in it for the money (he wouldn't have left 961 Pro if he were), but wounding your opponents' self-esteem would make him seem even better on-stage...

Halloween Headcanon!

I have this headcanon that Suzuho Ueda and Nina Ichihara are good friends because of their mutual love of full-body costumes. One year, as Halloween approached, they decided to ask robotics genius Akiha Ikebukuro to help them make super-awesome mechanized costumes with glowing lights and all that jazz.

But then, Akiha, being over-enthusiastic about this stuff as usual, decided to add a whole bunch of extra "features" to the costumes, so they ended up being to heavy for Suzuho and Nina to actually wear, and they ended up falling apart when they tried them on. Suzuho and Nina were stuck at square one again, and ended up making their costumes as usual. Never again did they ask Akiha to help them make costumes.

Matsuri Tokugawa is actually cosplaying all the time. She acts like a princess, though sometimes drops the act. Her room's full of manga - perhaps she was inspired by a favorite character of hers, and is trying to actually become a real-life version of this character. It would be a good way to deflect attention from her last name...

Weekly Headcanon Topic, #2

Alright, time for the second weekly headcanon submission post! Like said, every week, I'll make a post with a topic for the week's submissions and will publish them as they come - and at week's end, I'll repost some of what's came in.

Unfortunately, for the first week, no submissions came in on the specific topic at hand (765 Pro's first 13 idols). Perhaps this week, with its much-more-open topic, there'll be some to share?

This week's topic:

Is it time to become Cinderella yet? The topic for the week is Cinderella Girls' idols. All are included, voiced and unvoiced.

I'll share a personal headcanon (in this case, two) I have about this week's topic: The 10-year-old Yukimi Sajou is actually the pet cat; the body is simply a puppet. The mysterious promise she has with Producer is related to this.

Shiho Makihara, like some other idols, is not primarily an idol for the sake of being one. She's only an idol because she wants to promote the maid cafe she works in, and being an idol is an effective means of doing so.

Experience with Idolmaster: Started watching the anime to surprise old friends in 2011, then actually got hooked on it. I keep up with the DLCs and I know how to sing a vast amount of songs. I can hit the high notes in Saihyou and Tonari ni, and I’ve sang im@s at a karaoke contest this year.

Other Stuff: I’m planning on starting up a dedicated im@s chorus group for those who enjoy singing im@s songs. I haven’t made the page (just have a URL) or an application page yet, but I will launch it at some point… ehe’
