1) The annual Mira Costa All Awards Assembly, which honors students with academic and athletic awards, was held at the auditorium on May 24. Costa principal Ben Dale, starts off the assembly with a congratulating speech to all the students. 2) Senior Laura Sheckter was one of the two winners of the Associated Student Body Award. Sheckter walks onto the stage followed by Dr. Dale and Costa history teacher, Lisa Claypoole, to collect her award. 3) One of the awards given out were the University and Book Awards. College and Career counselors Christine Schiraldi and Shalyn Tharayil announce this year's winners. (Upperclassmen Keely Parker, Riley Douglas, Lauren Schlick, Jennifer Miao, Ray Kim, Julian Reed, Katherine Elias, and Kelli Hanley.) 4) Senior Duke Mahr was the second winner of the Associated Student Body Award. Mahr walks onto the stage followed by Dr. Dale and Ms. Claypoole, to collect his award. 5) The biggest award given out at the All Awards Assembly is the notorious Student of the Year Award. This year's Student of the Year Award was Senior Audrey Phan. She, followed by her parents, receives her award from Dr. Dale.

1) On April 4th, the nominees for the annual Student of the Year award were announced. Senior Tooba Wasi, a nominee, is pictured at a Model United Nations class. She has founded the Girls As Leaders Club, United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund Club and is the president of the National Honor Society.
2) Senior Kevin Pinkerton, pictured on the third row to the far left, was also nominated for the award. He has played on Costa’s volleyball team for four years. He is also a Los Angeles County Junior Lifeguards member.
3) Senior Ronald Clinton was also one of the nominees for the Student of the Year award. He has participated in the Manhattan Beach Mayor’s Youth Council, is a member of the Black Scholars Union, Science Olympiad and Costa soccer team.
4) Senior Audrey Phan was also nominated for the Student of the Year award. She is a member of the Lend a Hand Club and Together We Tutor Club. Phan also started the Girl Scout Gold Award project, in which she travels to Vietnam to volunteer in orphanages and create care packages.
5) Senior Emily Chase was also chosen to be nominated for the Student of the Year award. She is the president for the Vocal Ensemble in Costa’s Marching Band, is a Wind Symphony Club member and participates on the Soptometry Club.

5) Hosted on April 1st through the 2nd, the Getty Center presented its annual Selected Shorts, with many well-known actor and actress appearances. Malcom in the Middle actress, Jane Kaczmarek, hosts this year's Selected Shorts.

1) The most recent club day was on January 25th, at the Mustang Mall. This club sold treats on one of Costa's notorious Club Days located in the Mustang Mall. 2) Club day was held in the Mustang Mall on January 25th. Club day is for clubs to sell food and use the profits to fund themselves. 3) The Mustang Club sold treats today at Club Day held in the Mustang Mall on January 25th. They donated their profits to the organization Portraits of Hope, this is one of the organization's famous projects: The Spheres At MacArthur Park. 4) Club day was held in Costa's Mustang Mall, on January 25th. In this photo, three girls sell in n' out milkshakes and burgers to make profits that go towards their club funding. 5) Club days, a day where clubs gather around the Mustang Mall to sell food and gain profit, usually go hand in hand with Core Value Assemblies. (this most recent club day being January 25th) On this club day, the scheduled assembly was canceled, but will be postponed soon. John Olivas was asked by the Latino Scholars Union Club as a Hispanic American to be a special guest. 5) Areglia Andrade and her dancing partner danced to Baile Folklorico at the Costa’s first Hispanic Heritage assembly on October 26th, held at the auditorium during 2nd period. Areglia and her partner showed off their traditional Baile Folklorico dresses to the beat of the music.

1) Howard Baker, Joan Jenkins, and Milton McKinnon discuss the legalization of marijuana at the Hermosa Beach Parent Chat located in the Hermosa Beach City Council Chambers on December 1st. Baker, Jenkins, and McKinnon volunteered to educate parents on the dangers of marijuana should they ever have the need to discuss this topic with their children 2) Parents at the Hermosa Beach Parent Chat sit patiently and listen to questions from their fellow audience members and await its answer at the Hermosa Beach City Council Chamber on December 1st. They carried notebooks with them and took notes on this year's hot topic: the legalization of marijuana. 3) Jim Harris, a local Hermosa Beach parent, shares her thoughts and rising questions at the Hermosa Beach Parent Chat, at the Hermosa Beach City Council Chambers on December 1st. Jim Harris along with other parents informed the specialists about edibles - marijuana baked in goods - and its bright packaging. 4) Hermosa Beach Police Captain Milton lectures to the audience about the consequences of smoking marijuana in public at the Hermosa Beach Parent Chat in the Hermosa Beach City Council Chambers on December 1st. Anyone who is caught smoking in public will receive a citation, four hours of counseling and ten hours of community service. 5) A Hermosa Beach parent and resident stands at the poll and asks a question to the specialist at the Hermosa Beach Parent Chat in the Hermosa Beach City Council Chambers on December 1st. This parent asked about the recent spikes in youth center visits due to marijuana addiction.
