(decided to remake a post I made 2 years ago)

I opened the red door to enter the house of the Christmas party I was attending. The snow that had fallen on my hat melted when the warmth from inside clashed with my face. Christmas music sang loudly in my ears and sweet voices filled the night. I stepped inside, stomping off my snow covered boots and took in the sights around me. Sparkling Christmas lights twinkled on the tree and a mistletoe hung in the kitchen doorway. Warm cookies were being pulled out of the oven and the smell of cinnamon and pine filled the house. I took my hat and coat off, letting the warmth of the house engulf me. Many students from school were here but the ones who caught my eye were the Weasley’s. Ron was in the kitchen helping Hermione frost cookies to look like Christmas trees. Ginny was sitting on the couch, Harry’s arm wrapped around her as they laughed to a holiday film, with other classmates spread out through the room only partially paying attention to the movie. The twins came rushing past me swinging the door open with a few other boys following behind them, one of them yelling “Only children play this!”. Fred shouted back, “Sounds like someone’s scared they’re going to lose!”. The door slammed shut causing a gust of icy air to hit my back, a nice contrast to the hot house. Percy was busy swatting first years away from the tree as they tried to guess what was inside the green and red presents. I smiled as I came back to reality when Ron walked over to me, handing me a warm mug of hot chocolate. “Quit spacing out and follow me, I think they’re having a snowball fight. My bet’s on George.” I giggled as we turned around to walk out into the crisp winter night.
