You know the thought occurs that with the season 1 Inhun limo scene... In-ho didn't HAVE to be there.

Maybe it really is just the normal game procedure for him to drop off every winner in what may well be his personal limo, dressed casually and drinking... but y'know, that could also be a task easily delegated to someone else. Like how In-ho delegated the whole ass games to the black-robed officer in season 2.

He especially didn't have to be sitting in the lounging area with him and prepared to just talk with Gi-hun, all he NEEDED to do was drop Gi-hun off with the money. Coulda been sitting upfront like he was in the season 2 limo scene, but nope. Had to be close to a tied up Gi-hun.

I definitely think Gi-hun trying to quit with Sang-woo in the last game sparked an interest that In-ho was indulging a bit there.

We don't talk enough about how In-ho just GRABS Gi-hun while they're cheering for the Six Legged Pentathalon.

They met YESTERDAY, had a few chats, did a bit of bonding over past traumas for a second, and then In-ho defended Gi-hun from a bully (!!) and teams up with him immediately (what is this, middle school?), and he puts his face like RIGHT in Gi-hun’s face while asking Gi-hun to choose a mini-game for him??

AND THEN everyone is cheering for Queen Team (Hyun-ju's team) and In-ho has been getting progressively more enthusiastic as he starts to actually have a good time being part of a team (😭), and ALL THE SUDDEN IN-HO JUST GRABS HIM

Let me explain right away. Inho is holding a lighthouse, which, it seems, should show the right way, as you understand it. In fact, in this context, it symbolizes hope for a way out of the trap, but at the same time increases the feeling of hopelessness, because it is not clear whether the light leads him to freedom, or to new danger. In this case, In Ho manipulates this belief, and himself guides Ki Hoon with a beacon straight into his trap. (I also liked the idea of a wolf in sheep's clothing, and a sheep in wolf's clothing.)

My headcanon is that this is the moment in-ho started taking an interest in gi-hun:

Because it was such an unusual thing to do. An unusually kind thing to do. In a moment where you couldn't really blame anyone for pairing up with someone they thought would help them survive (most people would prioritize their own lives in this moment, it's completely natural), gi-hun instead chose to extend his hand to the elderly man he had befriended because he couldn't bear to see him left alone without a partner. Even if it meant gi-hun himself would be at a severe disadvantage for the next game.

I like to think this is the moment that made in-ho pause and realize there is something different about gi-hun.
