Dani sighed a little. “Yeah, they’re fine. Thankfully we haven’t gotten any more housecalls, so everyone’s doing pretty good.” She brightened a little as she thought about her siblings. “Julia and Victor are going into kindergarten this year. Can you believe it? I feel so old!”
Thierry nodded. He didn’t know how he’d react if Joker just showed up at his apartment. After what happened with Tommy (and the certainty that Joker knew they were closely associated) he was wary whenever he interacted with the clown or those connected to him. “How old are you?” He asked curiously. He’d always assumed they were close to the same age.

@im-not-a-liar
Billy and Thierry had only spoken maybe a handful of times since he and Tommy had gotten together. So, when the warlock showed up suddenly at the male’s doorstep – after making sure Tommy was busy doing who knows what elsewhere – it was needless to say, awkward.  It probably didn’t help the situation any that he had literally been conjuring fruit baskets and other random gifts as a way to apologize to the couple for not remembering the other’s name. It wasn’t enough for Billy though. He wanted to apologize in person and if Thierry and Tommy were really a thing, he supposed it would be good to at least get to know the other guy more.
Thierry wasn’t used to someone knocking on the door. Obviously it wasn’t Tommy. The other possibilities that immediately came to mind put him on instant guard. His recent withdrawal from work would have consequences eventually. He hesitated, but then approached the door and assumed an air of calm before opening it. When he saw Billy there he blinked, taken by surprise, but he realized instantly that it was Tommy’s brother. “Tommy isn’t here...” He said tentatively.

“Me neither.” She grinned a little at the mental image of the joker conducting his foul business in a cute, sunny little house like most people would want. It certainly would be less creepy. “But I’m just saying, he doesn’t have to go that far. I’d be perfectly fine meeting him in like an abaonded warehouse or something.”
Maybe the fact that they had both been allowed to the island should have put him at ease, but Thierry couldn’t help but think that the closer they were to the Joker, the more likely it was that they would die. No one stayed close to Joker for long. No one but Harley and Jonny. “Everything he does goes too far. Is your...” He paused, wary of asking something that was too personal. “Your family. Are they okay?”

He couldn’t get in touch with Billy either, but it was a lot easier to guess what he was doing, even if he didn’t know where. Besides Thierry, pretty much everyone he knew in the city would be out there trying to corral people toward the bridge (probably). Part of him wondered if he should go to the Titans little headquarters, see if there was a plan, but if nobody could communicate…
No, he was just going to wait on Thierry. The seconds ticked by in slow motion. Tommy paced through the penthouse, out onto the balcony. He changed clothes, putting his suit on beneath a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt. His goggles hung loose around his neck. He tried the phone again, and every call and text immediately failed.
How long had he been waiting? Oh. Thirty seconds.
Tommy could get anywhere in seconds. There seemed like a higher chance that Tommy would be able to find him if he were in a common space. Thierry relaxed once he neared the building and took out his key. The building was new but the elevator still seemed to be too slow.
By the time he reached the door he was starting to feel genuine anxiety for the situation. He’d never been very involved with the city or what was happening, but this felt different. They would both be able to clear the area in seconds - but there were other people to consider now. There had never been anyone else before.
“The phones aren’t working,” was the first thing he said to Tommy, but it was obvious he was relieved.

“Well, great. You’re hired. You can start…whenever you want to, I guess. I feel like we’re overdue for some massive tragedy so I should probably teach you the basics before then.” It wouldn’t take long, he was sure. Thierry seemed like he’d be a quick study. Josh really just needed an extra pair of hands.
He was quiet for awhile again, chewing on the inside of his lip. “I just feel stupid.” When it came down to it, he was more angry at himself than at Julian. He shouldn’t have brushed so much aside to give him the benefit of the doubt.
“Thank you.” Thierry wasn’t exactly an optimistic person. He knew the time would come when something else would go wrong. Normally he would have taken off a long time ago, but running didn’t feel like the right thing to do - even though he didn’t normally consider what the right thing was.
He was prepared to let the subject go. No one could have forced Thierry to talk about it before. This was the first time he’d said anything to anyone, aside from Tommy... but even then he’d held back.

@im-not-a-liar
When the notifications about the bomb went out, Tommy was sitting on the floor playing tug-of-war with Cricket and one of the dog’s favorite rope toys. Thierry had been out for a little while. Not too long. Not long enough to be on his way back yet, probably.
He tried texting him, and after a few messages failed to go through he started to get a little more anxious about it. Thierry could fly, and Tommy could get out of the city in a couple of seconds, but that wasn’t the point. He didn’t want to just leave it up to chance.
Thierry had just left the safe house after his talk with Josh. It was strange to think that he had willingly become involved with something that didn’t directly benefit him or wasn’t for wholly selfish reasons. He took out his phone and contemplating texting Tommy to tell him about it, but then he decided to have that conversation in person.
Just as he was slipping the phone back in his pocket it suddenly erupted into a flurry of noise. Startled, he looked at the screen and watch the notifications popping up, his brow furrowing, and when the siren went off he winced and looked up. The apartment wasn’t far and he hadn’t brought the suit that Erik had given him, he hadn’t planned to be gone for too long, but he wanted to get back as quickly as possible despite knowing that Tommy would be able to whisk them off the island in seconds.

Thierry hadn’t realized how many things they’d brought to the hotel. His furniture had been abandoned at the old apartment, though that didn’t mean they couldn’t buy more, and the house they were moving to didn’t come furnished. There was a lot of shopping to do unless they wanted to sleep on the floor.
The movers had beaten them to the new apartment. Pausing on the curb, he smiled at Tommy and handed him the key. “Go in first. It’s on the top floor.” The penthouse was larger than any of the other apartments in the building. The elevator doors opened straight into the living room. He’d bought it straight out. It was cheaper than paying rent over so many years.
