Okay so it's not a traditional glasses tray-

The KID note is from the Last wizard of the century movie!!! It's my favorite Conan movie, not because it's the best one but honestly mostly out of nostalgia XD

@ainnur know you could say that Macaque also suffered, because from what we've seen, he and Wukong were really close.

And if we're going with the og death of the six eared macaque in JTTW, then he was killed by Wukong while on the journey, for attacking the gang and trying to kill Tripitaka.

And while this isn't right, there's a reason behind it, and that is feeling betrayed, because remember, he told Wukong that trying to overthrow heaven was a bad idea.

And then his best friend was sealed away, a best friend who, mind you, was very rude and hurtful every time macaque visited.

And we know Macaque visited multiple times because the way he tried to give Wukong a peach was as if he was trying to make amends, perhaps for a previous fight.

Hell! Maybe macaque visited after the big fight we see, and we just don't know that!

Then ofcourse, Wukong apparently kills him, dooming him to torture in diyu, not just his memories of his actions in life, no, actual torture.

And that's probably why he took the lady bone demon's deal.

Macaque is definitely a cowardly character, he tries to hurt Wukong through his weaker less experienced student instead of facing him head on.

But that was probably because he was rightfully terrified of the monkey.

And when he was working for Lbd? I can't say I would've done any different. Because Macaque was never the heroic type, and he wasn't about to risk his skin for fucking Wukong and a bunch of kids.

He was desperate.

So him sacrificing himself to stop LBD wouldn't work unless we had like an extra season to build up that character arc and by then, it wouldn't be useless at all!

While we didn't get an exact redemption arc for him, the show makes it a point to show us that he does have good in him, it shows us what MK sees in him, example, catching Bai He during the fight.

Then they also show us that he still works stupidly well with Wukong, when they were breaking out of Diyu.

Macaque is a well structured character who only needs time to flourish.

And besides, it isn't like he fully integrated into the friend group, he's always crashing stuff to annoy Wukong or standing on the edge until they pull him in.

I'd reckon to bet that Macaque himself doesn't forgive himself for hurting mei and MK, but he's to stubborn and proud to apologize.

Kinda reminds you of another monkey pre- enlightenment ey? 👀

had an LMK dream where they fixed S6’s plotline by sacrificing Macaque except it was a worthless one and they didnt need him to do all that and SWK and MK just needed to hug to return everything to the starting point before MK even got his powers or met SWK
