How the Unholy Trinity expresses their affection

Cassidy: calls Tulip love with a bit of a bite to it, a playful spark in his eye, nose wrinkled both to make her laugh and to bare his teeth just a little bit- he calls Jesse mate with a softness that implies that soul should have preceded it, a devotion lighting his whole being more than a supplicant to their god, tenderness and care in each lowered syllable- he uses his body, so much less fragile than theirs, as a shield without a thought to the pain that he’s going to have to be subject to bc he knows that at least he’s guaranteed to make it out alive, he brings levity to their worst situations even if it's at his own expense both in the "being the butt of the joke" way and also when he's so fucking tired he almost can't stand it

Tulip: even when she’s mad she’ll crack a smile at Jesse when he makes a joke or says something sweet to try and get on her good side, she makes sure he doesn’t forget his cigarettes on whatever motel table they were at last- Cassidy is a clothes thief, mostly bc he doesn’t really have any of his own, so she’ll leave her suitcase open and not mention it when she sees him in one of her shirts, she never flinches from his touch and makes a point of reaching out to hold his hand or comb his hair back from his face or even just fit her palm to his cheek bc he’s so touch-starved- she makes sure they’re both fed in a way that she never had anyone to do for her when she was growing up, makes sure that they know that she loves them even if the words don't come out of her mouth, which of course they do bc she's the most verbose of them when it comes to their inner thoughts and feelings

Jesse: for someone who has been instilled with the Word, he’s terrible at using his, so instead he does things like using his body to block other people from seeing Tulip in a vulnerable moment bc he knows she hates ppl seeing her like that outside of the boys- he listens to Cassidy’s insane ramblings no matter the subject, always listening and indulging it even as he laughs and argues with him, pokes fun- he always makes sure that they're safe, any sort of conflict always ends with Jesse checking them over to make sure that both of them are still okay, still whole
