maybe they would not be strangers for long ── bed of thumb gliding on phone screens keyboard so he may catch what other was saying before returning it to snug fitting coat pocket ( but not before turning on the voice recording app he was so smart to instal ) .. once device is secure he lets gaze rise to meet that of new company.
head tilted awkwardly in order to glimpse at taller male, long lashes fluttering as initial shock of his answer settles onto the skin of his cheeks in the form of soft blush. rejection was not common as he was usually not the daring type to even bother asking for such requests ; hand slips from it’s hold so fingers can come to twine with those of opposite hand. fingernails picking at his knuckles.

❛ doesn’t that make it weirder ? ❜ obvious strangers engulfed in awkward air ── pale view scans other, catching coy look and deciding then and there that intention was pure. there was no harm in being too careful. digits wrapping around shared umbrella hold, he is sure to mind others hand, careful not to touch only ghost. shifting closer so they may both fit underneath as soon as droplets fall onto boys shoulder.
pitter patter of rain drowns out uneven heartbeat in his ears, cellphone taken out of pocket so he may type down moment in complete detail as it unfolds.
gaze kept down on bright screen, tongue peaking out of pink mouth as in concentration ; he wont look to them as he speaks , ❛ if you walk me home i’ll give you hot cocoa. ❜
a chuckle sprouted from his throat, using his unoccupied hand to catch the sound before it caused any unwanted comments. his gaze flickered to the other boy, fingers covering the last of his buck - toothed smile.
the back of his head bobbed against the skeleton of the umbrella. not bothering on raising it’s height, the natural slouch of his back made it easier to deal with. ‘ i dunno, i don’t really have any umbrella - sharing experience ---- but, if you’ve got any tips, i’m all ears. ‘ words rolled off the tongue, easiest when dodging glances.
he sat in silence for a while, letting his smirk settle on his cheeks. ‘ i’ll take you up on that offer. ‘

clothes soaked through, sticking to shivering frame .. hands coming to wring out some of the rainwater from loose sweater ── WHAT A MESS.
but saddened expression and dropping shoulders would not last as gaze rises upward to new cover. strangers kindness met with sudden widening of eyes once half lidded and heavy with sleep. they stare at the umbrella overhead before shifting back towards the male carrying it.
heart rate rising and fingers before twined within damp cloth, now come to push others niceties away ──── ❛ what d’you want ? ❜
‘ c’mon man. ---- you’ve gotta be cold, right ? ‘ the man nudged the umbrella closer, letting the downpour spill a little on his left shoulder. he allowed himself to slouch a little, a sheepish look sent to the other. ‘ look, it doesn’t gotta be weird ---- i can look the other way. ‘
he followed his own instruction, only peeking to make sure the other was accepting his offer.
