'Heartstopper' Season 1 Review
If you haven't heard the news... Heartstopper is getting renewed for season two, baby!
In honour of the announcement, I want to give my detailed review of the show~!
(This whole review is entirely my opinion and I am just providing constructive criticism.)
Title: Heartstopper
Director: Euros Lyn
Writer: Alice Oseman
Starring: Joe Locke, Kit Connor, William Gao, Yazmin Finney, Corinna Brown and Kizzy Edgell
Plot (according to Wikipedia): Teens Charlie and Nick discover their unlikely friendship might be something more as they navigate school and young love.
My rating: 9/10
My review:
Finally a teenage show that doesn't have literal 30-year-olds casting in it! I love the unconventional cast in Heartstopper a lot, I can tell Alice Oseman recruited the people that were most similar to the main characters both personality and look-wise. Joe Locke is the epitome of Charlie Spring and Kit Connor looks exactly like I pictured Nick Nelson (muah).
I thought the show would be exactly like the comic just on Netflix and that I wouldn't enjoy the show as much because I knew exactly what would happen--- but I was pleasantly surprised at the difference!
A major difference is that the comic didn't showcase what it was like inside Higgs and the friendship between Elle, Tara and Darcy. Also, there was never a sports day in the comic. AND THE GIF ABOVE WOULD HAVE NEVER EXISTED.
The comic was a bit more serious as compared to the show so I enjoyed the heart-fluttering moments very much!
On to the actual show, I think the way the actors, director, and writer portrayed Heartstopper on TV was on point. I felt all the stirring emotions felt by the characters and I actually cried several times (coming from someone that always begins a series thinking it will be unsatisfactory). Also, watching it for a second time last week, I was surprised to find myself feeling the same emotions I felt the other time.
I love how they elaborated on Nick realising he was bisexual! A very real narrative!
Also, an underrated character in this series definitely has to be Mrs Singh! The things she has said so far have been so touching.
However! There is one massive thing that might have put me off very slightly... which was the way Charlie had handled (spoilers) Nick punching Harry. I don't understand why his mind immediately jumped to breaking up with Nick just because he said that he didn't want to be friends with the rugby lads (haha British). Because, honestly, his friends were major jerks and there was nothing wrong with the things Nick said.
And this part in the comic was extremely different! Charlie, in the comic, didn't care about Nick getting into a fight. He actually praised him for it. (OMG, I know)
See the replies for a better explanation to this bit!
But I have to say, overall, I really enjoyed this show. Made me feel some feels I haven't feel-ed in a while. Props to the whole crew behind Heartstopper!

K-drama name: Extraordinary Attorney Woo
Director: Yoo In-shik
Writer: Moon Ji-won
Starring: Park Eun-bin, Kang Tae-oh and Kang Ki-young
Plot (according to wikipedia): Woo Young-woo is a young lawyer with Asperger's syndrome. She boasts a high IQ, an impressive memory and a wonderfully creative thought process, but she struggles with everyday interactions.
My rating: 9.5/10
My review:
First, I love that k-dramas are becoming more inclusive and representative. It really does bring a smile to my face!
The acting was fabulous, I love the fact that many underrated actors got the limelight in this drama. It's great to see all the efforts put in by Park Eun-bin for this role coming to fruition.
This was truly a drama that consistently, throughout each episode, brought a smile to my face! Whether it was Young-woo's antics, Jun-ho falling more and more in love every scene with Young-woo, Attorney Jung being an amazing senior or Geu-ra-mi and Young-woo's advanced greeting (^^).
Most scenes were carefully approached and well-written to bring the audience to maximum delight.
Thanks to the writer, director, actors, and numerous other staff members and contributors for bringing Extraordinary Attorney Woo to life!
(Edit: I swear for my first review, this is way too positive... and I watched this drama about a month ago so I couldn't remember the memorable scenes that well because I am dumb. Also, do y'all see Geu-ra-mi's ABS in that GIF??? LIKE, DAMN, STEP ON ME.)
