IT WAS THE LOOK of the other's face that had a shit eating grin placed carelessly onto the bard's features. ocean's watched the twitching of a tail - wanting to pounce on it like a cat. a huff was given , another throw of a grape at their head. "i wouldn't be a child if you didn't take it in the first place! you can't take a bard's tool! it's like taking my bloodline!!" he was practically screeching. "lorn! come ooooooooon." now he was whining.

for a moment, all the tiefling can do is look down at the grape as it lands on their bedroll, a very small but very much present spot on their forehead wet with grape juice.

fortunately for the childish bard, it would not be wise to shed blood around all their other companions. they would have to content themself by clenching their fists tight enough to feel their claws break the skin of their palms break. pain, subtle as it might be, helped keep them grounded. fenll does not know the kind of dormant beast he is taunting ( hells, lorn does not know either, their true nature escaping them ), ignorance truly is bliss.

for a moment, they do not bother answering him. their tail whips back and forth across the ground like an angry cat, their gaze fixated on the fire in stubborn silence before they sigh and finally speak up.

THE NOBLE BARD pressed lips softly against the rim of the silver chalice. to camp out in a home that was no longer his - by spirit anyway - felt odd. even though the mansion had many rooms for the companions to sleep in - the spiders felt more at home than he did. the manor was dusty - dust covered portraits of the one sitting across from the other bard. "stop basking in the beauty of it." he teased - anguish laced in humor. "we will sleep a night and then we leave... immediately." he just hoped no one will lockpick the only locked room upstairs - witness the blood soaked wood.

even though during their adventures - it's always brought up to him that there is a new beautiful lute being sold or to be found. but he ignores their words. the blood stained lute - strings broken so many times and chipped at the bottom....

it belonged to his brother. the brother he had to kill because bhaal's madness had claimed his brother's mind , the cult poisoning it and twisting it.

and it was either him or his brother.

you can hear fenll plucking the strings near the end of the camp on star filled nights. when the notes are usually so joyful ... the nighttime sorrows tired fingers.
